“At the salon, ask your colorist for a brunette with softness and warmth without red tones,” Kandasamy advises. When the color is kept neutral-to-soft—rather than blue or overly inky—the result is a “strong yet elegant” shade that enhances facial features and complements both warm and cooler undertones without overpowering them, says Valerie. Kusero adds that this softer, more dimensional black works especially well on olive and deeper skin tones.

“At the salon, ask your colorist for a soft black with espresso undertones,” advises Kusero, or a “soft black with depth and shine, not jet black, not matte,” says Kandasamy. “Copper and auburn shades continue to evolve into a softer, glowier red,” says Kusero. Kandasamy elaborates, “For 2026, copper is burnt, rose-tinted and elegant. Less fire, more glow. It feels handcrafted, not trendy.”

Flattering on a wide variety of skin tones, Kuseo explains clementine copper is a soft auburn with copper warmth and depth that’s natural and doesn’t lean costume red. “Ask your colorist for a copper that feels rose-kissed and dimensional not flat, not loud but rich,” says Kandasamy.

How to Squirt During Sex—and What That Liquid Actually Is

For as much as we’ve normalized female pleasure, squirting is often still met with wide eyes and whispers, coveted in some circles and stigmatized in others. But the truth is, squirting isn’t abnormal or rare, nor is it necessarily the end-all, be-all of sexual happenings. It’s just a uniquely pleasurable experience for plenty of people with vulvas.

The misconceptions around squirting mostly stem from a lack of conclusive research on the topic—which may not shock you, since we’re talking about (1) sex and (2) female anatomy. “I always say we know more about the surface of Mars than we do about what’s really going on in women’s bodies,” Nan Wise, PhD, cognitive neuroscientist, AASECT-certified sex therapist, and author of Why Good Sex Matterstells SELF. As a result, she says it’s hard to claim that every person with a vulva can learn how to squirt.

A 2023 study suggests 40% of adult women report ever having squirted during sex, most of them experiencing the phenomenon for the first time in their mid-20s. But a lot of experts believe it’s possible for all women, even if it comes more naturally to some.

As for what that liquid actually is, where it originates, and what makes it spray? Read on to learn what some very innovative science is beginning to reveal about squirting, plus how to make your next sex-counter wetter n’ wilder.

Common myths versus facts about squirting

Myth 1: Squirting is the same thing as female ejaculation.

Though squirting is often referred to as the female form of ejaculation, a 2022 research review revealed that this is a bit of a misconception. Technically, “female ejaculate” consists of less than 10 milliliters of fluid (roughly two teaspoons) that looks like “watered-down milk,” Dr. Wise says. Whereas squirting is the release of more than 10 milliliters—and often much more—of fluid that can shoot, spray, or gush into the air, like your own personal hot spring, or just drip or dribble out.

Another key distinction: Female ejaculate is thought to come from the glandular tissue wrapping around the urethra (the tube where you pee from)—which, depending on whom you ask, is called either the paraurethral glands, Skene’s glands, “female” prostate, or, as Dr. Wise and other sex researchers now suggest, just the prostate. This tissue likely plays a similar role to a “male” prostate, as an analysis of female ejaculate found that it contains many of the same components as semen, minus the sperm.

What inspired you to start your own natural skincare brand?

Using clean and certified organic products became especially important to me when I was a teenager as my mum was diagnosed with cancerous tumours in her spleen. Our family started to do further research and learned that a lot of the everyday products we were using in our lives, from household cleaning products to packaged food items to skincare products, contain chemicals that can be harmful to our health. We were shocked to see how potentially carcinogenic and unhealthy certain ingredients can be that were readily available on the market and deemed safe… even products that claimed to be natural – really weren’t!
I learned so much from this experience, and definitely a turning point in my life when I was encouraged to embrace the importance of caring for our body from a holistic point of view. This is what sparked my interest in certified organic products and inspired me to launch KORA Organics.

What did your life look like prior to KORA?

Before I launched KORA Organics almost 15 years ago, I was modelling internationally full time. I was travelling to a different country every few days for work. To this day I still pinch myself for what I have experienced but I never took it for granted. I took every job as if it was my last because I knew it could stop at any moment. My Mum always said to me ’make sure you save every penny because when this all stops, you’ll have the funds to start your own company one day” so that’s exactly what I did.

What KORA product are you most proud of and why?

I am proud of all of the products we have created at KORA. I put my heart and soul into each of them but if I had to choose one product it would be our Turmeric 2:1 Brightening & Exfoliating Mask. We created 17 samples of this product until it was right! I’m obsessed with exfoliating and face masks, this product is like an at-home facial in a tube as it brightens, deeply cleanses, reduces inflammation and evens skin tone. What’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learnt in business, and in life?

The most important lesson I’ve learnt is that happiness and fulfilment come from within. It’s easy to get caught up in external goals and achievements, but true happiness and fulfilment come from living a life that is aligned with our values, passions, and purpose. And in business, my husband taught me that it’s ok to ask for help. I used to be so afraid to impose on people, and he has taught me that it’s okay to ask questions and to reach out to others for support’ People really do love to help others which has helped me a lot on my entrepreneurial journey.

What does a typical day look like for you?

There is no typical day for me, especially at the moment with an 8 week old baby. I’ve pretty much been homebound since February as I am breastfeeding every 3 hours. My parents have been staying with us since just before Pierre was born so we’ve all been spending time together and having lots of cuddles. It’s been great having their help with the boys, it really is such a special time for us all.

What’s your top beauty or wellness hack?

Celery Juice! I start every morning by drinking 32 ounces of cold pressed celery juice. Celery Juice is amazing, it’s a powerful anti-inflammatory, is alkalising and also full of electrolytes. Personally, I feel it really helps my digestion, brain-fog and energy levels.

La Roche-Posay UVAir SPF 50 Review (Now With Tinted Versions)

Last year was full of self-care revelations. An international move will do that to you. Since European pharmacies turned from exotic to everyday, I’ve embraced more SPF formulas than I can count. I also found my ride or die sunscreen in La Roche-Posay UVAir SPF 50. A few weeks ago, some creative sneak peeks popped up on Reddit. It looked like UVAir was getting a subtle packaging refresh and would now also come in three tinted versions.

Well, all of it turned out to be true. I immediately ordered the medium shade, which just arrived. So here I am with first impressions and some side-by-side comparisons. I know the classic version already has a loyal fan base, so this matters. I’ll be quick. Let’s go.

Packaging vs Formula

Let’s start with the OG, because this update made me nervous. The newly packaged bottle (rounder edges and a pop-up top instead of a twist cap) houses the exact same formula I fell so hard for. Nothing to worry about. You are still getting the same genius SPF. Just packaged slightly differently. The same 50ml capacity remains.

UV filters used in both formulas:

  • Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine (Tinosorb S)
  • Ethylhexyl Triazone (Uvinul T 150)
  • Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Avobenzone)
  • Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (Uvinul A Plus)

Additional filter in the tinted version:

  • Titanium Dioxide (mineral filter)

The real difference is that the tinted version adds mineral pigments. Titanium dioxide and three iron oxides give it visible color and light coverage, while also extending protection into the visible light spectrum. This makes the tinted formula more suitable for uneven tone or pigmentation-prone skin, while the original remains a true invisible sunscreen.

Key differences:

  • Untinted: no color, completely transparent finish
  • Tinted: contains titanium dioxide and iron oxides for shade and coverage
  • Tinted offers extra visible light (HEV) protection
  • Untinted works better for layering under makeup
  • Tinted can double as a light complexion product

User Experience

Like the clear version, the tinted UVAir has an elegant texture, the same light floral scent, and incredibly seamless absorption. If anything, the tinted version feels slightly creamier than the original, but not by much. Coverage is very sheer. The finish is more satin than dewy and looks very natural on skin. It blends easily with just your fingers and leaves no streaks.

This one is a smart addition to the LRP SPF wardrobe.

Shades

I went with Medium. When a brand offers three options, I usually feel safe landing in the middle. The new LRP UVAir in Medium is just a touch dark on me right now (January). But I’m also in Spain. I’m confident it will be a perfect match from April through October. I’m far from a makeup pro but I’d say the shade runs cooler more than warmer.

Light shades tend to wash me out ever so slightly. Since the coverage is very sheer, the formula is forgiving. It can comfortably “round up” a small range of skin tones. Which is exactly what I want from a tinted sunscreen. And not what I expect from foundation.

UV Coverage vs Makeup-Like Coverage

Here is my rule for tinted sunscreens: no matter how subtle the tint, applying the full recommended amount will never look completely natural. That is just reality. With pigment-heavy formulas, I usually apply a bit less to avoid streaking or pilling.

That said, UVAir Tinted is surprisingly forgiving. I use four lines (roughly three fingers) across my forehead, cheeks, and neck. After blending, nothing gathers around my hairline, which is a huge win. Personally, I am thrilled with this launch.

If you’re in your 30s, longevity may be low on your priority list. Chances are, your brain space is filled with more immediate concerns, like growing your career or family, or both. You’re also young enough not to get wrapped up in your own mortality.

“You still have a lot of innate resilience,” Eve Henry, MD, internist and chief medical officer at integrated health platform Hundred Health, tells SELF. But even if your daily habits don’t seem to have much sway over how you feel now, they can seriously influence how you age in the future, she says, for better or worse.

That’s because aging happens gradually, as does the development of chronic diseases. Consider the buildup of plaque inside arteries that can amass for decades before it manifests as heart disease (the top killer of women in the US) or stroke. Alzheimer’s disease, which affects twice as many women as men in this country, is also a slow burn. It’s the reason doctors have stressed focusing on health at a young age since well before longevity got buzzy.

And your 30s is an especially apt time to develop healthy habits. After age 30, people lose, on average, 3% to 5% of their muscle mass each decade, which is an especially risky trajectory for women, Rachele Pojednic, PhD, EdM, FACSM, a nutrition and exercise researcher, and director of education at Stanford Lifestyle Medicine, tells SELF. Weak muscles put less load on bones, which hinders bone maintenance and decreases bone density, she explains. That’s a fast track to osteoporosis—and women are at baseline higher risk than men, just by having less bone mass to start with, and because of the drop in estrogen that occurs with menopause.

It’s better to “build a big stockpile of biological resilience” while you’re at peak bone density and your hormones are still largely intact in your 30s “versus trying to play catch-up forever,” Vonda Wright, MD, an orthopedic surgeon, longevity researcher, and author of Unbreakable: A Woman’s Guide to Aging with Power, tells SELF. Below, experts share the behaviors to invest in during your 30s for the biggest return down the line.

1. Pick up a form of strength training you don’t dread.

For women, in particular, consistent muscle-pumping is key to avoiding the downward spiral of weak muscles, brittle bones, and falls that happens all too often with age. Dr. Wright points out that 70% of people who have a hip fracture are women, and half of people who break their hip never return to their home after seeking treatment; 22% of hip-breakers die within the year, generally from complications of being immobilized in the hospital, like pneumonia.

I’ve been curious about face yoga for some time and recently decided to put several exercises to the test. What I learned is that face yoga isn’t one-size-fits-all—different exercises target different concerns and outcomes.

7 Face Yoga Exercises

In today’s post, I’m sharing my personal review of face yoga exercises, along with before-and-after photos, so you can see the results for yourself.

First, let’s break down what face yoga is, how it works, and the potential benefits.

What is face yoga?

Face yoga uses facial exercises, lymphatic massage techniques, and gentle stretching to engage the facial muscles, neck, and jaw. It’s a non-invasive and inexpensive way to improve facial muscle tone and circulation and can be a good way to melt the tension of the day away before bed.

Consistency is key to getting results from face yoga.

How does face yoga work?

If you’re wanting a mini glow-up, set aside a few minutes a day for face yoga. It’s an easy habit to adopt, because it feels good and it’s relaxing and there’s usually some evidence that it’s working!

Supports muscle activation

Certain facial muscles are used repeatedly due to habitual expressions, while others remain underused. Face yoga helps counterbalance this by activating underused muscles, which may reduce facial asymmetry and improve neuromuscular coordination.

Supports relaxation of chronically tight muscles

The gentle stretches and relaxation techniques of face yoga can release tension which not only softens expression lines but can lead to less discomfort in the neck and jaw.

Supports lymphatic flow

Face yoga shines when it comes to de-puffing the face, because it improves circulation and stimulates lymphatic drainage. When there’s increased blood flow, there’s better delivery of nutrients and oxygen to the skin.

Supports proper alignment of head, neck, and jaw

Who knew that slumped shoulders and a forward head position could drag the face down, but that’s what happens over time. Face yoga supports proper alignment of the cervical spine, jaw, and tongue.

Supports proper breathing and nervous system regulation

Slowing down and taking deep, intentional breaths during face yoga can also relax the nervous system and be a systemic blessing to the body.

What Are The Best Face Yoga Exercises

Aim to do each exercise at least once a day. Try it for a month and see if you can’t notice a difference!

1. Jaw Release

This exercise helps to release tension in the jaw which can contribute to facial tension and a sense of heaviness in the face.

Place fingertips on the jaw muscles and open and close the mouth while applying gentle pressure. Add slow circular massage.

2. Sculpted Neck

This exercise is great at addressing the dreaded double chin that can appear especially if you’re spending a significant amount of time looking down at a computer or phone.

Keep your shoulders relaxed and tip your chin toward the ceiling until you feel a stretch in the neck and chin. Alternate between duck lips and sticking out your tongue, holding each for five seconds. Repeat three times, keeping the chin lifted and neck taut throughout.

3. Smooth Smile Lines

This exercise supports smoother looking skin and less defined smile lines by releasing muscle tension from inside the mouth.

Starting beside the nose, place your tongue inside your mouth and trace small circles along the smile lines. Do five circles clockwise and five counterclockwise on each side to help smooth the area.

4. Crow’s Feet Corrector

This exercise creates a nice facial stretch that can be a great ally in keeping wrinkles away or at least making it harder for new ones to form.

Relax your shoulders and lower your chin toward your chest. Form an oval with your mouth, then look upward using only your eyes. Hold for three seconds, then tuck your upper lip inside the mouth to make an ‘ahh’ shape.

5. Eyebrow Lift

This eyebrow lifting exercise can address those pesky brow lines by improving muscle tone and releasing tension from the forehead.

Place your index fingers about half an inch above your eyebrows. Attempt to raise your brows as you gently press them downward with your fingers.

6. Full Cheeks

This exercise can strengthen the cheek muscles and contribute to plumper looking cheeks.

Take a deep breath through the mouth and then shift your breath from cheek to cheek, release.

7. Cheek Lifter

This exercise helps support the muscles that lift the cheeks, countering age-related downward pull and loss of tone.

Form an ‘O’ with your mouth and tuck your upper lip over your teeth. Place one index finger on the top of each cheek. Lift the corners of your mouth into a smile, allowing your fingers to rise. Then relax back into the ‘O’ shape, letting your fingers lower.

My Face Yoga Review

I did face yoga every night for a month straight.  I really wanted to see what results I could achieve and share with you.  Often we hear of these special modalities we can use for lifting and sculpting but I am like anyone else- I wonder if they actually work!  Well, I was pleasantly surprised with my results.  I took a before photo and each week I took a new photo to see the results.

Overall I noticed a more lifted appearance.  My eyebrows looked more lifted, and my eyes more open.  My face was less puffy and looked more sculpted.  My fine lines around my mouth were less visible and I had more color in my skin.  I believe the movement of the lymph really helped with the blood flow.

It is a commitment to do each night, however, I found myself looking forward to it most nights because it was a nice way to unwind and calm myself for the night.  It felt very much like yoga for the body, your mind enters more of a zen, calm state and that felt great before bed.  I want to continue to do it and see what kind of results I can get in 3 months or even 6 months.

It’s like anything, the more consistent you do it, the greater results you will have.  I’ll keep you posted on my results, but I hope this is enough for you to see that it does actually work!

My Tips For Actually Getting Results With Face Yoga

  1. Be consistent- I can’t stress this enough!  Even if you can only commit to a few movements or even minutes at night, be consistent doing them.  Consistency is what’s going to get you the results.
  2. Find some movements or an instructor you love.  This will help keep you consistent because you’ll want to keep coming back for more.
  3. Find a time when you’ll actually do face yoga.  Maybe it’s at night, maybe it’s not.  It might be first thing in the morning, whenever you can be consistent is best.
  4. Take before and after pics, this will really help you see the results and keep you consistent.
  5. Give it time.  Face yoga isn’t a quick fix and like anything good things take time.

I also did another video from YouTube by Mady Morrison on her face yoga routine.  I liked it because it gave sound prompts that helped me to know when to switch movements.  You don’t have to buy a course, there are a lot of free videos on YouTube if you type in face yoga.
