The Invisible Style Rules You’ve Internalised And How to Break Them — Inside Out Style

0

twitterpinterestlinkedinmail

Have you ever heard a little voice in your head say anything like any of the following?

  • I should hide my hips/thighs/tummy/arms/insertthebodypartyoufocusonhere
  • I’m over 40/50/60/70 which means I can’t show my legs/decolletage/arms
  • This is too dressy to wear out and about
  • I can’t wear colour as it’ll make me stand out
  • I can’t mix patterns as it will clash

These aren’t style principles. They’re scripts. And most of them were never consciously chosen.

How They Quietly Shape Your Wardrobe

Invisible style rules do not announce themselves. They show up as patterns.

You might notice that everything in your wardrobe is designed to conceal rather than express. That you default to safe neutrals even when colour excites you. That you avoid texture, belts, prints, shine, structure, and contrast.

Take the self-imposed rule “I have to hide my tummy.”

It often leads to oversized tops that remove all shape. Heavy fabrics that add bulk instead of skimming. A refusal to define the waist at all.

Yet strategic shaping, considered hemlines,  thoughtful fabric choices, and proportional balance can create a harmonious and flattering look without self-erasure. Hiding is only one response. It is not the only option.

I have plenty of posts here on how to hide your tummy if it is something that matters to you (and it’s completely fine if it does), it’s just not all that your outfit should be focused on, and you don’t have to delete any style from your outfit to be able to achieve this aim.

you can hide your tummy without wearing shapeless clothes

Here is an example using the principle of volume plus horizontal lines to create the illusion of a wider waist on my H-shaped body.  The lightweight silk fabric, the very narrow pleats, and the strategically tucked and bloused top are all done to make me feel better about my tummy pouch without it being the focus of my outfit.

Or consider “Grey hair equals old and frumpy.”

Don’t even get me started on grey hair!  I’ve never had so many compliments on my hair before I embraced my silver foxette.  Seriously, people are always stopping me in the street to admire it.  I’m frequently asked who dyes it for me, as if it’s a conscious decision to turn my hair this colour with chemicals.    Sure, I may not pass for under 40 anymore, but I’ve not become invisible.

That invisible style rule may quietly push you into old-lady stores and away from even considering current fashions. As though visibility itself needs to be reduced.

And yet, many silver-haired women look extraordinary in crisp tailoring, intentional colour, and multi-tonal patterns. The hair was never the issue. The script was.

Why Breaking the Rule Feels Risky

When you begin questioning invisible style rules, something interesting happens.

You feel slightly exposed.

That’s not vanity. It’s psychology. Your nervous system associates conformity with safety. If you have always been “the sensible one” or “the understated one,” stepping into stronger colour or sharper structure can feel like stepping outside your identity.

Blending in becomes your sartorial aim.

But here is the distinction that matters.

You are not becoming someone else. You are becoming more deliberate.

There is a difference between dressing to disappear and dressing with intention.

A More Strategic Way Forward

Instead of overhauling everything, begin with awareness.

Notice the sentence that plays in your head when you reject an outfit. Write it down. Seeing it in black and white often reveals how absolute it sounds.

Then ask yourself a better question. Is this rule helping me express who I am now? Or is it protecting a version of me that no longer exists?

You don’t need a dramatic rebellion. You need evidence.

If you believe you must hide your arms, try a softly structured sleeve rather than a baggy cover-up. If you believe bold colour is “too much,” so you wear only neutrals, introduce a softer colour in one controlled, elegant piece.

Try mixing prints or patterns along with solids to break them up.  You won’t look ridiculous or like a clown if you ensure that the colour palette is in harmony.

mixing texture and prints

Here I’ve mixed a floral-pattern skirt with a floral-textured crochet top, along with striped sandals in a similar colour palette to the skirt. They go together because elements of design are in harmony.

How about you try something a little different and bolder than you usually would?

Observe what actually happens. Do people recoil? Did you feel ridiculous? Or did you feel a subtle lift in energy?  Or did you garner compliments?

Small experiments create new data. And new data rewrites old rules.

This is where my Evolve Your Style 31-day style challenge is considered by those who have done it, to be so life-changing, as it helps you step out of your usual outfit habits, expanding your comfort zone little by little til in a matter of weeks, your style has improved, and you feel more confident and stylish.

From Defensive Dressing to Conscious Expression

Many women are not struggling with style because they lack taste. They are struggling because they are following invisible style rules built around fear. Fear of ageing. Fear of judgement. Fear of standing out.

But style is communication. And shrinking your visual presence is still a message. It simply may not be the one you intend to send.

When you choose proportion, colour, and structure deliberately, you step out of reaction and into authorship.

You decide the narrative.

The Energising Shift

You are allowed to update the rules.

You are allowed to redefine what elegance looks like at 45, 55, 65 and beyond.

You are allowed to take up visual space.

The invisible style rules you’ve internalised were built unconsciously. Breaking them is not reckless. It is intelligent.

Start with one this week.

Not to shock anyone.

Not to reinvent yourself.

Simply to test whether the rule still serves you.

When you begin replacing invisible style rules with conscious choices, your wardrobe stops being a set of restrictions and becomes a reflection of clarity.

And that shift feels energising.

Take your first small step today to examine those “rules” and see what works for who you are now – try Evolve Your Style and see your style improve in short time.

The Ultimate Guide to Transformative Facials in NYC

0

Sculpt. Smooth. Regenerate. Reset.

At Joanna Vargasclients don’t just book facials — they book results.

Whether you want red-carpet lift, glass-like clarity, regenerative collagen support, or a full skin reset, today’s most requested treatments are designed around one thing: what modern skin actually needs.

Below, we break down the four most in-demand facials and answer the real questions clients ask about exosomes, microcurrent, spicules, and visible results.

Triple Crown Facial

Best For: Instant lift, sculpting, and event-ready definition

If your concern is:

  • “My face looks tired.”

  • “My jawline feels softer.”

  • “I need lift without downtime.”

The Triple Crown Facial is your answer.

This signature treatment combines microcurrent technologylymphatic sculpting, and targeted massage to visibly lift and contour the face in one session.

Why Clients Love It

FAQ: Does Microcurrent Really Work?

Yes — when performed consistently and correctly. Microcurrent uses low-level electrical currents to stimulate facial muscles, helping improve tone and firmness. Think of it as a workout for your face — but refined and precise.

Results are visible immediately and improve with a series.

Glass Skin Dermafacial

Best For: Smooth texture, hydration, and pore refinement

If your concern is:

  • “My pores look enlarged.”

  • “My skin feels rough under makeup.”

  • “I want that dewy, poreless look.”

The Glass Skin Dermafacialpowered by Prime Dermafacial™ technology, deeply cleanses, exfoliates, infuses precision serums, and finishes with oxygen therapy for a luminous, camera-ready finish.

What You’ll Notice

  • Visibly smoother texture

  • Refined pores

  • Plumper hydration

  • Instant glow

FAQ: Is This Like a HydraFacial?

It’s more advanced and more customized. This treatment combines dermal infusion with sculpting techniques and oxygen therapy, giving both immediate polish and structural refinement.

There’s zero downtime, making it ideal before events or travel.

Exosome Facelift Facial

Best For: Fine lines, redness, collagen support, and skin fatigue

If your concern is:

  • “My skin looks dull even when I rest.”

  • “Fine lines are settling in.”

  • “I want something regenerative, not just hydrating.”

The Exosome Facelift Facial focuses on cellular communication and collagen renewal.

Exosomes are often described as cellular messengers — they support the skin’s natural repair processes, helping improve:

  • Fine lines

  • Redness and inflammation

  • Loss of elasticity

  • Texture irregularities

FAQ: What Are Exosomes in Skincare?

Exosomes are signaling molecules that help support skin regeneration and collagen production. In facial treatments, they are used to encourage smoother, firmer, more resilient skin over time.

FAQ: Is It Immediate or Long-Term?

Both. You’ll see a fresh, lifted glow immediately, but the regenerative benefits continue developing in the weeks that follow.

Cellstory Facial

Best For: Acne scars, uneven tone, texture, and long-term renewal

If your concern is:

  • “My texture won’t smooth out.”

  • “I have acne scarring.”

  • “My skin looks congested and uneven.”

The Cellstory Facial uses spicule technology, microscopic marine-derived structures that stimulate renewal without traditional needles.

What It Does

FAQ: Is Spicule Technology Like Microneedling?

It stimulates the skin similarly but without a device. Instead of mechanical punctures, refined micro-spicules activate renewal through controlled stimulation.

You may feel a mild prickling sensation for 24–72 hours as the skin begins its regeneration process.

Concern Best Treatment
Sagging or puffiness Triple Crown Facial
Enlarged pores + dullness Glass Skin Dermafacial
Fine lines + redness Exosome Facelift Facial
Acne scars + rough texture Cellstory Facial

✔ Immediate visible results
✔ Long-term collagen support
✔ Non-invasive solutions
✔ Minimal downtime
✔ Natural-looking lift
✔ Clearer, smoother skin

Each of these treatments is designed around those core desires — not trends.

Modern skin requires more than steam and extractions. It requires intelligent stimulation, advanced infusion, and regenerative science layered with expert hands.

Whether you want sculpted definition, glass-like clarity, or long-term renewal — there is a facial designed for that exact need.

The ‘Cowgirl Bob’ Is Spring’s Cooler Take On The French Bob

0

If you’re torn between an edgy shag and a chic bob haircut, we’ve got good news for you: the cowgirl bob just might be your match made in haircut heaven.

Unfamiliar with the cowgirl bob? The best way to describe it is a grown-up take on the viral cowgirl cut but with a hint of soft femininity – à la the French bob.

“The cowgirl cut is rough and ready — a little imperfect but beautiful, so that’s where the name came from,” says hairstylist Luke Hersheson, who coined the term ‘cowgirl cut’ in the first place. There are strong similarities with a shag or lob, but a key element of the cowgirl cut is the curtain bangs, he adds.

Now take this blueprint and apply it to a bob. “The cowgirl bob is a longer twist on the ‘French bob,’ with chic piece-y bangs and a blunt-full length,” says New York City hairstylist Dan Williams. Better yet, the cowgirl bob is equal parts flattering and versatile. While the look is on-trend, it can also be customised so your cut doesn’t end up looking like a carbon copy of anyone else’s style (unless you want it to).

Now that spring has finally arrived, it’s no surprise that cowgirl cuts are evolving into cowgirl bobs, pulling inspiration from short, hot-weather-friendly styles we already know and love. It also doesn’t hurt that country music is still having a moment right now.

How to style the cowgirl bob

“This bob is fabulous if you like a fuller, one-length, short bob with just a mild amount of texturising on the ends,” Dan continues. He also suggests cutting downward into the bangs “to add more of a wispy effect when styling.”

When creating your look, Dan recommends using a one-inch curling iron and “twisting the hair as the curl releases.” If that sounds too scary, we get it: Simply opt for a self-rotating curling wand, like the Dyson Airwrap Multi-Styler.

When curling, just “make sure to leave the ends out to help emphasise texture and give that little kick on the ends,” Dan adds, reiterating the importance of prioritising your hair’s health at the same time.

“Always use a good heat protectant,” he says, pointing to Bumble and Bumble Heat-Shield Thermal Protection Hair Mist as the perfect product for the job.

“Finish off this style with a good texture spray, such as the new Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Texture Spray Light.”

Et voilà: “This look is perfect for living your true cowgirl fantasy,” Dan concludes. We couldn’t agree more. Yeehaw!

As it turns 30, La Phocéenne de Cosmétique buys Laboratoires de Biarritz

0

A lever for new distribution channels

With its range of natural and organic products developed with environmental respect in mind, Biarritz Laboratories is fully aligned with La Phocéenne de Cosmétique’s DNA, centred on natural ingredients and made-in-France production. Initially anchored in the organic retail network, the brand soon expanded into pharmacies and is now distributed in more than 1,200 pharmacies and 800 organic stores across France.

The acquisition will allow La Phocéenne de Cosmétique to tap into new consumers in a fast-growing market. Beyond expanding its distribution channels, it also strengthens the group’s expertise and credibility in organic sun care, a segment in which Laboratoires de Biarritz has emerged as France’s leading brand.

Laboratoires de Biarritz embodies a demanding and committed vision of cosmetics, perfectly aligned with our history. Their leading position in organic sun care and their established presence in specialized distribution channels provide a powerful lever for accelerating our growth while remaining true to our convictions,” explains Éric Renard, founder and CEO of La Phocéenne de Cosmétique.

Rebranding, innovation, and activation

Organic growth, fuelled by its supermarket brands The Little Olivier, Vendôme Laboratories and hitforms the second pillar of La Phocéenne de Cosmétique’s 2030 plan. By 2025, the French company expects to generate EUR 50 million in revenue and post 6.7% growth in a market that has contracted by 2.4%. The company sells nearly 13 million units annually — roughly one product scanned every two seconds.

Since its acquisition from Bolton Group in 2023, Laboratoires Vendôme has been fully revampedwith a new logo, modernized packaging, production relocated to France, a 360° campaign across TV, social media and print, and national distribution. The brand exceeded EUR 3.5 million in revenue in 2025. Flagship products include its pH 6.5 dermatological soap — unique in supermarkets — and the 2-in-1 Shower Balm offering 24-hour hydration.

Lovea, acquired in 2018 and now the fifth largest player in the supermarket sun care market according to Circanais experiencing a similar momentum. In 2025, the brand recorded 20% growth in value. Alongside the redesign of its UV line, the brand is introducing a new logo and tagline. It is also expanding into hair care with a curly hair range launched this spring.

Meanwhile, Le Petit Olivier, the company’s cornerstone brand, continues to innovate to sustain its appeal. In March 2026, it launched a new collection of four shower gels with distinctive fragrances — such as orange blossom and grapefruit, or lavender and coconut — complemented by alcohol-free scented mists, a rapidly growing format. At the same time, the Expert Argan and Olive ranges were refreshed with new packaging and enhanced formulas: Expert Argan now features active ingredients recognized for their anti-aging benefits, while the Olive range, designed for normal skin, incorporates moisturizing agents. The Expert Argan range was supported by a television advertising campaign in early 2026, and a major relaunch of the Olive range is planned for 2027, highlighting a patented active ingredient sourced from the company’s olive grove near the Pont du Gard.

Continued international development

Exports currently represent 25% of La Phocéenne de Cosmétique’s revenue and are fully aligned with the trajectory set for 2030. Development is primarily focused on nearby European markets — Belgium, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Spain, Poland, and Portugal — with a clear commitment to strengthening certain strategic positions, particularly in the UK. “We are doing what is necessary to strengthen our position in the United Kingdom, while consolidating our established markets,” emphasize Éric Renard.

The company benefits from long-term investments in several markets, including Georgia, where it has operated for over twenty years and generates significant revenue, as well as Chile. Its strong presence in Canada and Morocco further rounds out its international footprint. La Phocéenne de Cosmétique prioritizes direct development whenever possible, particularly in Europe, while relying on distributors in more distant regions.

Beyond mass retail, the historical foundation of its performance, La Phocéenne de Cosmétique now has broader ambitions by positioning itself in the particularly promising pharmacy market. The dynamism of this channel could accelerate growth and allow La Phocéenne de Cosmétique to further establish itself as a global player in the beauty industry.

Glowing Skin for Spring 2026

0

Have you noticed the shift in beauty lately? While there will always be those into the more toxic and harsh products, I cannot help but notice the other half of women that are left simply wanting to get back to the basics! Think healthy, glowy, vibrant skin! Strong actives like high-strength retinoids, frequent acid exfoliation, and foaming cleansers that strip natural oils may seem enticing to smooth the surface of the skin, but over time they can weaken the skin barrier which we are seeing more and more of in our skin consults! Women are over consuming products that are actually working against them so today, we are going to hopefully fix that because when the barrier becomes compromised, skin loses moisture more easily and becomes more reactive to products and environmental stressors. The last thing any of us need or want. This can show up as redness, tightness, flaking, increased sensitivity, breakouts that seem to appear suddenly, or skin that feels dry no matter how much moisturizer you apply. So, what should you do instead!?

Go back to the basics and opt for products that actually heal and restore balance to our delicate microbiome! Healthy skin relies on lipids, hydration, antioxidants, and gentle active ingredients that support the skin’s natural protective layer rather than constantly stripping it away. When the barrier is healthy, skin holds moisture better, appears smoother, and reflects light more evenly, creating that fresh, radiant glow we all strive for. So, if you think you are overdoing it, which most people are, try this simple but effective routine instead!

Skincare We’re Loving for GLOW!

Right now, the whole Organic Bunny team is lovinggg RMS Beauty skincare. Instead of relying on harsh resurfacing ingredients, RMS focuses on nutrient-dense botanicals, vitamin C from Kakadu plum, peptides, and nourishing oils that help hydrate, brighten, and support collagen while respecting the skin barrier and boy, does it do exactly that! Your skin will never look better and at a really fair price for a luxury, clean routine. The result is skin that looks calm, healthy, and luminous rather than stressed or overworked. If your skin feels dull after winter or irritated from too many actives, this type of routine can be a great reset!

RMS Beauty Routine Steps

So many of you get confused on skincare steps so I wanted to create a blog that really mapped it all out that you can return back to as often as needed. My best advice is to start with the mini sizes if you are sensitive or unsure, and then come back for the big guys once you’re hooked!

Best For- This routine is ideal for normal, dry, combination, or sensitive skin that feels dull, dehydrated, or irritated from overusing harsh actives. With ingredients like Kakadu plum, niacinamide, peptides, and antioxidant-rich oils, it also supports collagen, smooths the look of fine lines, and helps skin appear firmer and more radiant over time! Not sure if this routine is right for you? Don’t forget, you can book a FREE consult with our Holistic Esthetician anytime.

Step 1- The first step in the routine is the Coconut Clean Cleansing Balmwhich is such an important step if you wear makeup, SPF, or live in a place with daily buildup and pollution. A balm cleanser helps melt away stubborn makeup, sunscreen, and impurities without disrupting the skin barrier the way harsher removers often can. Simply massage this super soft balm into the skin and watch the makeup dissolve! Take an Organic cloth and wet it with warm water and then, remove the balm. This is one of the easiest ways to cleanse thoroughly while still keeping the skin soft, conditioned, and comfortable. Rather than making skin feel stripped, it leaves it nourished and prepped for the second cleanse below which is Step 2.

Pro Tip- NEVER double cleanse with a gel cleanser twice in a row, you are damaging your barrier with this!

Step 2- The second step is a follow up cleanse with the RMS Kakadu Clean Cleansing Gelwhich gives skin that fresh, clean reset without over-drying it. After the balm has already broken down makeup and buildup, this gentle gel cleanser helps wash everything away while keeping moisture intact. Kakadu plum helps brighten dull skin, and the formula is designed to leave skin feeling balanced, soft, and refreshed instead of tight. This is the kind of cleanse that works beautifully because it helps skin feel clean and renewed without that squeaky, tripped feeling. Changing to this two step cleanse, alone, will be a game changer for barrier-damaged skin.

Step 3- Next comes the RMS Beauty SuperSerum Hydrating Mistwhich acts as a hydrating treatment layer rather than a typical facial mist and whoa, is it cool! It’s half oil, half toner! The formula combines humectants like glycerin with nourishing oils such as jojoba, buriti, and abyssinian oil to help support the skin barrier while adding lightweight moisture. Niacinamide, a well-researched ingredient known for strengthening the skin barrier and improving uneven tone, works alongside antioxidant-rich botanicals like turmeric, licorice root, rosemary, and Kakadu plum seed oil to help brighten and defend the skin from environmental stressors. Mineral-rich sea water and soothing plant extracts like calendula, horsetail, and ashwagandha help calm stressed skin and improve overall resilience. Spritzed onto the skin after cleansing, this mist helps restore hydration and prepare the skin for the treatment steps that follow. Your skin will literally be a radiant, glowing STAR after this!

Step 4- The fourth step is the Kakadu Luxe Creamwhich acts as the deeply nourishing core of the routine. The formula combines barrier-supporting lipids like shea butter, safflower oil, and caprylic triglycerides with humectants such as glycerin and hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate the skin. Niacinamide again helps strengthen the barrier and improve tone, while Kakadu plum fruit extract provides antioxidant vitamin C support for brighter looking skin. Pea extract, quinoa extract, and artichoke leaf extract help support skin firmness and smoothness, while mastic gum helps improve the appearance of pores and texture! Together these ingredients work to replenish moisture, smooth the appearance of fine lines, and reinforce the skin barrier so it can retain hydration more effectively.

Step 5- The final step is the RMS Kakadu Beauty Oilwhich helps seal in hydration and deliver a concentrated blend of restorative botanical oils and plant extracts. Jojoba oil closely resembles the skin’s natural sebum, helping balance and support the barrier, while rosehip oil provides essential fatty acids that help improve skin texture and radiance. Buriti oil is rich in carotenoids and antioxidants that support healthy-looking glow, while olive and sunflower oils help nourish and soften the skin. What makes this oil especially unique is the addition of calming and restorative botanicals such as tamanu, calendula, turmeric, licorice root, horsetail, and ashwagandha. These plant extracts are known for their soothing and antioxidant properties, helping support skin repair and overall resilience. Pressed gently into the skin as the final step, the oil helps lock in hydration, reinforce the skin barrier, and leave the complexion with the soft, luminous glow that RMS skincare is known for. This is an add on that not everyone will need, this is best for anyone dry wanting MAX moisture and glow.

Exfoliation- Depending on how your skin handles exfoliation, be sure to add in a clean, gentle exfoliation to ensure all of the dead skin is removed off your face! If you leave behind dead skin cells, the above items cannot work so use something like the Earth Harbor Glow Juice mask 1-3 times per week to really restore glow!

By focusing on hydration, nourishment, and gentle brightening rather than harsh resurfacing, this routine helps support the skin instead of stressing it and your skin will look its absolute BEST! When the barrier is healthy and well supported, skin becomes more resilient, retains moisture better, and naturally develops the best glow possible without relying on anything too aggressive or harsh. Try it and keep me posted on the changes you see.

Jones Road Mini Miracle Balms Join the Permanent Lineup

0

Last Updated on March 8, 2026 by omgbart

They came back and are here to stay.

For years, Jones Road Mini Miracle Balms were a limited edition release. Black Friday was your one window to grab them in travel size. But the brand heard you. Heard us. And as of this week, Mini Miracle Balms are officially part of the permanent lineup. The collective sigh of relief can be heard around the world.

Mini Miracle Balms from Jones Road are now permanent in the line.

What Is Jones Road Miracle Balm?

I’ve written about this product more times than I can count. But it never gets old. Each Miracle Balm is designed for one specific purpose: all-over color, blush, or highlight. You pick your finish, you pick your shade, and you’re done. Make sure to read the shade description in detail as the shimmer presence and intensity varies widely.

(Hot tip: Au Naturel has no shimmer. My other two favorites, Dusty Rose and Cocoa Bronze do not have shimmer per se but rather a hint of low-grade iridescence. It comes through subtly and is definitely more glowy than sparkly.)

Miracle Balm by Jones Road in mini size is perfect for travel.

What Is It Made Of?

The base is dense and creamy. It’s a true balm that won’t liquify when temperatures spike. Apply it with your fingers and it melts into skin, turning into a moisturizing, silky makeup-skincare hybrid. If you have dry or mature skin, this one was made for you.

Dusty Rose is pretty amazing…

How I Use Jones Road Miracle Balm

The shade range now sits at 15. The newest additions are Chic and Cheeky, which I haven’t tried yet. But three shades have been on permanent rotation since day one.

  • Natural is colorless. On my cheekbones it delivers a natural, shimmer-free highlight that reads as your skin but better. For a more detailed review check out THIS POST.
  • Dusty Rose is my ideal cheek color. It just works on my skin tone.
  • Cocoa Bronze is shockingly flattering as an all-over bronze. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I do. A post featuring my before and after wearing this shade as well as Pinched Cheeks is RIGHT HERE.
Jones Road Miracle Balm original size vs mini comparison side by side.

Wearability Tips

Moving to Spain changed how I use Miracle Balm. The dry climate here is basically made for this formula. Summers are brutal, but without humidity, my skin looks radiant wearing it. Never sweaty. Back in Connecticut, muggy summers made tinted anything feel like a gamble. Not here.

Mini Miracle Balms from Jones Road with other travel-size must-haves.

Do You Need the Jones Road Mini Miracle Balms?

The full size deserves its counter space. But the minis? They’re a travel essential. Each jar is 8.5g, which sounds small until you remember how little product you actually need. These go far.

New to Miracle Balm? The mini is a perfect entry point. Already obsessed? Match your full-size with a mini for the road. Honestly, it’s a no-brainer. Also, if you’re unsure of which shade to pick, I cannot recommend The Shade Quiz enough.

$20 (8.5g) at jonesroadbeauty.com ($19 if you buy 3 or $18 if you buy 6)

This is not a mini but thought I’d share the Pinched Cheeks shade in case you are considering.

Also not a mini but this is Cocoa Bronze on me–one of my favorites.

Why the ballet and opera community is NOT happy with Timothée Chalamet

0

Barre none, has any celebrity offended the ballet and opera community quite like Timothée Chalamet?

The Marty Supreme star took part in a live conversation with Matthew McConaughey for Variety in February, during which the pair discussed competing with audiences’ ever-shrinking attention spans.

“In this day of shorter attention spans, vertical 12-second spots, are we losing attention?” McConaughey asked, pointing out that studios appear to be cutting the first acts of their films to get to “the conflict” more quickly.

Chalamet responded by arguing that younger audiences still have an appetite for slower-paced films, citing Netflix’s Frankenstein as an example.

“It does take you having to wave a flag of, ‘Hey, this is a serious movie,’ or something,” he said. “Some people do want to be entertained and quickly.

“I’m really right in the middle, Matthew. I admire people — and I’ve done it myself — who go on a talk show and say, ‘Hey, we’ve got to keep movie theatres alive, we’ve gotta keep this genre alive.’ And another part of me feels like if people want to see it — like Barbielike Oppenheimer — they’re going to go see it and go out of their way to be loud and proud about it.”

He then added a remark that has since set the ballet and opera worlds ablaze, a direct plié into controversy.

“I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera where it’s like, ‘Hey! Keep this thing alive,’ even though no one cares about this anymore.”

Realising the comment might land poorly, he quickly followed it with: “All respect to the ballet and opera people out there,” before laughing and adding, “I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I’m taking shots for no reason.”

Despite Chalamet’s attempt at a disclaimer, artists from both communities have made it clear they didn’t exactly feel the “respect.”

Ballet and opera stars respond to Timothée Chalamet’s comments

After Variety shared the clip online, opera and ballet performers quickly flooded the comments to challenge his take.

Opera singer Isabel Leonard wrote, “Honestly, I’m shocked that someone so seemingly successful can be so ineloquent and narrow-minded in his views about art while considering himself an artist.

“To take cheap shots at fellow artists says more in this interview than anything else he could say. You don’t have to like all art, but only a weak artist feels the need to diminish the very arts that inspire those who are interested in slowing down to do exactly that.”

Artist Franz Szony added, “Two classical art forms that have been around for hundreds of years — both of which take a massive amount of talent and discipline this man will never possess.”

“Saying ‘no disrespect’ after saying something disrespectful actually translates to: ‘I disrespect art I don’t understand.’”

Canadian mezzo-soprano Deepa Johnny also called the comments a “disappointing take,” emphasising that artists should “come together across disciplines” to “uplift these forms of art.”

The ballet community also chimed in. Choreographer Martin Chaix argued the art form is “very much alive.”

“If anything, in a world where AI is reshaping cinema faster than most realise, the unmediated human presence of ballet and opera becomes more essential, not less,” he wrote. “I hope he finds his way into a theatre.”

A spokesperson for the Royal Ballet and Opera also weighed in, highlighting the long-standing influence of these art forms on cinema itself.

“Ballet and opera have never existed in isolation — they have continually informed, inspired, and elevated other art forms,” they said.

THE WHAT? Activist investor Oasis Management has called on Kao to convene an extraordinary general meeting to investigate the company’s supply chain risk management and internal controls.

THE DETAILS The Hong Kong-based fund, which holds a 6.6% stake in Kao and is the company’s fourth-largest shareholder, said it had received multiple whistleblower allegations related to the company’s supply chain. These include potential links to deforestation and human rights violations among key suppliers.

Oasis has asked shareholders to support a proposal for an independent investigation. The fund cited suppliers such as Malaysian palm oil producer FGV Holdings/FELDA, which has faced a US import ban due to allegations of forced labour, child labour and abuse. It also raised concerns over Indonesian plantation operator PT Astra Agro Lestari, another supplier whose trade with Kao is reportedly increasing.

Kao said it is reviewing the request but declined to provide further comment.

THE WHY? The move reflects growing investor pressure on companies to strengthen supply chain transparency and governance, particularly regarding environmental and human rights risks.

Ariana Grande Just Got Even More Hand Tattoos—See the Photos

Ariana Grande’s hand tattoo collection keeps on growing! The musician and Wicked: For Good star has a vast assortment of body ink, with a plethora of designs concentrated on her hands, fingers, and palms. And now, she’s devoted even more palm real estate to a series of sweet, nature-inspired hand tats.

Over the weekend, both Grande and tattoo artist Mira Mariah, a.k.a. girlknewyork, shared snapshots of Grande’s latest designs: a series of vines and daisies across the star’s thumb, pointer finger, and ring finger. “More vines! Art girl tattoo party for the art girls!” Mariah wrote, with Grande commenting, “Love you so much” and “I love my peaches flowers.” The designs are simple but impactful, done in black ink with the biggest vine trailing from the tip of Grande’s thumb all the way to the base of her palm. Two daisies decorate her pointer finger, with another vine inked from the middle of her ring finger to the top of her palm. Another small daisy flower sits daintily at the base of her pinky.

Like we said above, Grande has a whole bunch of hand tattoos, including “For Good” on her other palm—a tattoo she got with Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo to commemorate their experience. As you can see in the pic below, she has a large illustration of Glinda from the original Oz books on the top of one hand, a moon and planets on the other, and the word “Toulouse,” an homage to her dog, across her knuckles. More vine designs encircle one wrist and finger.
