Dior Beauty Summer Collection 2026

0

Dior Beauty has my heart these days and the summer collection literally took my breath away. It seems that most of the pieces are limited-edition and by now the daisy compacts have sold out many places (I recommend checking your local counters or boutiques if you’re still searching for them).

Here are the details on everything I hauled with hits and misses.

Forever Nude Bronze Glow

Dior Summer Forever Nude Bronze Glow

The Forever Nude Bronze Glow Bronzing Powders ($60 each, Dior, Sephora and Selfridges) come in the most beautiful compact I think I have ever seen. The detailing on these is well worth the splurge in my opinion.

Both shades this season are very similar and also appear to be repeats with the names (and numbers). I don’t have Coral Bronze from previous seasons but I do have Pink Bronze and it looks identical on my skin.

Dior Summer Forever Nude Bronze Glow 031 Coral Bronze

Coral Bronze is just the slightest bit warmer on my skin while Pink Bronze is more neutral. Both have a luminous finish on me. There is an overspray on the surface but underneath is still a little bit glowy. I swatched them next to some existing Dior Forever Nude Bronze shades (review here).

Dior Summer Forever Nude Bronze Glow swatches

I really love these and have no regrets with the splurge, but if you already own Dior bronzers from past seasons I think you can skip if you want to avoid duplicates/dupes.

Forever Glow Luminizer + Glow Maximizers

Dior Summer Forever Glow Luminizer + Glow Maximizers

There are two highlighters in this launch. The Forever Glow Luminizer in Sun-Kissed is a luminescent champagne gold with micro sparkles ($60, Dior and Sephora). I think it’s beautiful even if I find the color and finish similar to other Dior highlighters.

Sun-Kissed pulls less sharp in the frost compared to Nude Halo (champagne) and also because Sun-Kissed is more peachy/golden it’s softer on my tan skin tone.

The Forever Glow Maximizer in Sunburst ($47, Dior, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s) is another stunning champagne gold. This one pulls sheerer in the frost/shimmer compared to others in this formula. I pulled the neutrals to swatch side by side. Sunburst is warmer and the sheererst. It has tiny glittery specks on the skin but it’s subtle.

Eyeshadow Palettes

Dior 670 Sunset Bronze

There are two eyeshadow palettes in this collection. I picked up the neutral one 670 Sunset Bronze ($75, Dior, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s)and it is absolute perfection. You can see swatches of the blue one in my highlights here. 670 Sunset Bronze has all shimmers. They’re smooth in the finish, easy to blend and and the colors truly look like a sunset.

Diorshow Flash Stick

The product you have all been the most curious about is the new Diorshow Flash Eyeshadow Stick ($42 each, Dior, Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Ulta Beauty). I have mixed feelings but I want to say first that I have very high standards for eyeshadow sticks and how they compare to Laura Mercier or Bobbi Brown, especially shimmers.

For some reason a lot of the cream shadows from other brands simply do not show up well on my lids. Once I blend, they almost always seem to disappear. This is the case with these new Dior Shadow Sticks for my eyes. They swatch SO beautifully on the hands but once on my eyes, they sheer out. They do show up on my eyes, they just don’t have the same impact once blended out.

I do really love the Beige Tulle which is a shimmery champagne (very sparkly). I prefer more impact or color. I do think these are worth checking out though, just because they didn’t wow me doesn’t mean they’re bad. I just usually can’t wear a lot of cream shadow sticks.

Addict Lip Maximizer

There are five new Addict Lip Maximizers ($42 each, Dior). Some of the shades appear to be exclusive to Dior.com but you can find some colors at other retailers like Nordstrom and Macy’s.

Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Summer Beauty 2026

I think they’re all beautiful but I would say 053 Golden Hour and 072 Cerulean are a pass for me. Golden Hour is incredibly frosty and pale in an unflattering way and Cerulean is fun and trendy but also not the best look for my lips.

Nail Polish

Dior Vernis Azur and Sunset

Last we have a look at two new Dior Vernis Nail Colors ($34 each, Dior, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom) for summer.

Dior Vernis Azur and Sunset

Sunset is a shimmery champagne gold. It pulls more gold than champagne and matches my skin tone closely. I think it’s a pretty shade!

Azur is a fun pool blue with a tiny bit of shimmer in the bottle, but it applies more like a cream.

Dior Beauty Summer 2026

Overall a beautiful collection. I really love that after all these years Dior still continues to launch full seasonal beauty collections along with their mini launches.

Did you pick up anything from this launch? What did you think?

Single Women Deserve Honeymoons Too—Here’s How to Plan One

0

I’m on a speedboat whizzing towards my latest vacation destination. As we bounce along, I attempt to take a selfie. The shot I want is the waves, the boats, the islands, but I can’t seem to get the kissing couples out the background. No matter which way I turn, there are honeymooners in my viewfinder. The boat operators and I are the only single people on this vessel. Technically I, too, am a part of a couple—actually, a throuple of single girlfriends heading for an Anguilla getaway. The trip is what I like to call a we-moon.

So often we have our dream destinations on reserve for the day we can go with the person we’ve agreed to spend our life with. There’s the honeymoon and the babymoon, but when do single women get to celebrate life milestones and fulfill the desire for companionship and adventure? That’s the we-moon.

For my most recent we-moon, I was invited to the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla and joined by two girlfriends. Now, you are probably wondering: What is the difference between this and your average girls trip? Well, similar to a honeymoon or babymoon, a we-moon is taken to celebrate a big life milestone. For me, it was my first book. Single women are so often traveling to celebrate others for their bachelorette or wedding or baby shower. Rarely do we get friends to travel and celebrate something that doesn’t fit into the typical timeline.

That is the purpose of a we-moon. It’s making the phone call to ask your friends to travel and celebrate an achievement with you, just like you do for others. It could be a promotion, a new job, a masters degree, or a book deal.

When crafting the perfect we-moon, there are things to keep in mind to make sure that the trip goes smoothly. I spoke to Joy Harden Bradford, PhD, author of Sisterhood Heals about the best way to pull off a destination celebration with no drama.

Book separate rooms.

On a honeymoon or babymoon, the whole point is to spend more time together. On a we-moon, it’s a balance of time together and time alone. That’s why Dr. Bradford recommends separate rooms if your budget allows. For this Anguilla trip, we were staying in a villa, so we all had our own room and bathroom. It was perfect for the early risers who wanted to read a book on their balcony quietly, or late sleepers who wanted to lay in and order room service. Whatever you decide, you should talk about it ahead of time.

8 Best Blow-Dryers for Stretching, Straightening, and Styling Curly Hair

0

Three heat and three speed digital settings make it adaptable to every hair type, and a cold shot button locks styles in place once you’re done. It also includes two concentrator nozzles with cool tip sides, a straightening pic designed to penetrate curly hair with ease, and a diffuser for added styling versatility.

Frequently asked questions

What specific features should someone with curly hair prioritize when selecting a blow-dryer?

“Look for multiple heat and airflow settings so you can customize based on how delicate or dense your curls are, plus true ionic technology to reduce frizz and boost shine. “A quality diffuser is non-negotiable because it helps curls dry evenly without disturbing their natural shape,” says Taylor. James breaks down the technology further, noting that “ionic technology works wonders on dense, curlier hair textures because it breaks down water molecules faster.” This is key because it keeps the frizz at bay during the drying process, which results in an overall smoother finish.

Titanium technology is like a moisture vacuum for low-porosity, thick, and coarse hair that holds water beneath the tightly packed cuticle layer within the strand. It delivers high heat that rapidly moves moisture to the surface, speeding dry time and creating a sleek, longer-lasting blowout.” On attachments, James adds that “a diffuser, comb, and nozzle attachment are clutch for creating a myriad of styles and will help perfect your blowout skills,” while Taylor rounds it out: “I also love dryers that maintain consistent heat so you are not shocking the hair cuticle and causing unnecessary dryness.”

What steps should you take when blow-drying curly hair to prevent damage?

Both experts agree that prep is everything before heat ever touches your hair. “I recommend a double cleanse, starting with a detoxifying or clarifying shampoo that won’t strip the hair. This first shampoo gently removes excess oils and product build-up, resulting in a ‘squeaky clean’ feel that allows better absorption for moisture and essential nutrients,” says James. Follow that with a hydrating shampoo, then a protein hair mask, detangling from ends to roots, and sitting under a dryer or steam cap for at least 20 minutes. James stresses that “the application of protein and moisture-infused formulas throughout your washday prep is key to healthier strands before heat styling.”

Taylor’s approach zeroes in on the styling step itself: “Healthy blow-drying always starts with moisture and protection, so I prep the hair with a heat protectant and a lightweight leave-in to keep curls flexible. I work in sections and use medium heat with low to moderate airflow so the curls dry gently instead of being blasted apart.” Both agree on finishing strong. James insists on a heat protectant applied root to tip as a final step, while Taylor adds, “I always finish with a cool shot to seal the cuticle and lock in shine.”

Should recommended heat settings vary between looser curls and tighter coil patterns?

“Looser curls and waves can typically tolerate slightly higher heat since the hair strands are often smoother and less prone to tangling, Taylor says. “Tighter coils and kinky textures need lower heat and slower airflow because the cuticle is naturally more raised and fragile.” James adds that other factors beyond curl pattern play a major role: “Density, porosity, and even length often determine heat settings as well. For instance, when the hair is shorter, it typically takes less time to dry because the flow of the air is concentrated in a smaller proximity and takes less time to travel from root to tip.”

Technique and tools matter, too. James notes that “if you are using a comb attachment to blow-dry higher curl patterns, you may be able to use lower heat than you normally would when using a round brush.” Ultimately, James puts it best: “No two curls are the same, so there is no one-size-fits-all approach to a successful, healthy, blowout on curls, even if the curl pattern appears to form the same shape.”

How we test and review products

When Allure tests a product, our editors look at it from every angle in an effort to best serve you. We review ingredients, scrutinize brand claims, and, when necessary, examine peer-reviewed scientific and medical studies. In addition to testing each and every product that’s included in each and every review, we rely on experts who shape their fields, including dermatology, cosmetic chemistry, and medicine, to help us vet the ingredients and formulas.

For our list of the best blow dryers for curly hair, we considered each product’s performance across five primary categories: product ingredients and efficacy, packaging, fragrance, texture, and product wear. Every product was determined to have excelled in each category by our editorial team, which is composed of in-house writers and editors as well as contributors—along with special consideration from board-certified dermatologists. To learn more information on our reporting and testing processes, read our complete reviews process and methodology page.

Our staff and testers

A beauty product is a personal purchase. You might be searching for a face cream to address persistent dryness or a new nail product to add to your Sunday self-care routine; you may simply be browsing around for the latest launches to hit the hair market. No matter what you seek or your individual needs and concerns, Allure wants to ensure that you love anything we recommend in our stories. We believe that having a diverse team of writers and editors—in addition to the wide range of outside testers and industry experts we regularly call upon—is essential to reaching that goal.

After all, can we really say a skin-care product is the “best” for people over 50 if the only testers we’ve solicited opinions from folks who have yet to hit 30? Can we honestly deem a high-end diffuser worthy of your hard-earned cash if it’s never been tested on curls? We’re proud that our staff spans a wide range of ages, skin tones, hair textures, genders, and backgrounds, which means that we are able to fairly assess any beauty product that comes into the beauty closet.

Your New Hair Bestie: The Shark SilkiPro™ Hair Straightener and Dryer

0

The Shark SilkiPro™ Hair Straightener and Dryer is officially the upgrade your morning routine has been begging for! If you are anything like me, you probably dread the whole wash day struggle of balancing a heavy blow dryer in one hand and a round brush in the other. This tool is a total game changer because it literally dries and straightens your hair at the same time without the crazy heat damage we all try to avoid. It is like having a professional salon blowout right in your own bathroom, and the shine it leaves behind is actually unreal. I’ve already told my entire group chat that they need to clear some counter space for this one because it is making my life so much easier.

Style Meets Serious Power

One of the best parts about this tool is that it doesn’t just work well, it actually looks stunning on your vanity too. Shark really understood the assignment when they dropped these shades because you can choose from Plum Satin, Rose Petal, or Turquoise Wave. I am personally obsessed with the Plum Satin because it feels so luxury and sleek, but the Rose Petal is definitely for the girlies who love a soft, aesthetic moment. Having a tool that matches your vibe just makes the whole getting ready process feel a little more like a self care ritual rather than a chore.

What really sets this apart from other tools I’ve tried is how effortless it makes the styling process. It comes with different attachments that glide through your strands, so you aren’t pulling or snagging your hair to get that silky finish. Whether you have tight curls or just want to smooth out some frizz, the airflow technology does all the heavy lifting for you. It is lightweight enough that your arms won’t get tired halfway through, which is a major win in my book. If you want to cut your styling time in half and still look like you just walked out of a chair, this is definitely the one for you!

Sandalwood Essential Oil Benefits

0

Ingredient:

Sandalwood essential oil

What is the fancy Latin name for sandalwood?

Sandalwood white/whiteor Spiced sandalwood

Where does sandalwood come from?

India and Australia, predominantly. The Indian species, White sandalwoodis the most revered form, but is now endangered due to aggressive harvesting practices, and the essential oil supply is very limited. We use wild Australian sandalwood, Spiced sandalwoodwhich is wild or plantation-grown and ethically harvested, with sustainability practices monitored closely by the Australian government. The aromatic profile of the Australian species is similar to that of the Indian species, especially as the oil wears on the skin over time.

Recently, we have also found an Australian, plantation-grown sandalwood of the White sandalwood variety, which we use in our Craft Series products from time to time. This stunning oil has more of the traditional Mysore sandalwood profile aromatically, but without the ethical issues that accompany Indian-grown sandalwood.

What are the aromatherapy benefits of sandalwood?

Sandalwood has been used in religious and social ceremonies for millennia, and is still used to facilitate meditation, move through stages of grief, and encourage creativity.

It is also used to support emotional balance in cases of anxiety and low mood, and is considered an effective aphrodisiac. Some people find it helpful for improving sleep quality.

In Ayurveda, sandalwood is used to calm excess Pitta (fire). Traditional Chinese medicine uses sandalwood to cool inflamed conditions of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and pulmonary systems.

Its warm, woody scent tends to feel grounding rather than stimulating, which is part of what makes it so versatile in both perfumery and emotional support.

What are the skin benefits of sandalwood?

Sandalwood is a mild astringent and has antibacterial qualities. It is also anti-inflammatory, which makes it useful for certain skin concerns like acne, irritation, and eczema.

Because it is generally well-tolerated in low concentrations, sandalwood essential oil is often included in formulations designed for sensitive or reactive skin.

Red sandalwood powder, which comes from a completely different family of trees than sandalwood oil, is used as a mild exfoliant and skin brightener.

Is sandalwood essential oil safe for skin?

When properly diluted in a well-formulated product, sandalwood essential oil is considered safe for most skin types.

As with all essential oils, concentration matters. Undiluted application can cause irritation, and individual sensitivity is always possible. If your skin is reactive, starting with low concentrations or patch testing is a good idea.

Why is sustainable sandalwood sourcing important?

Sandalwood is one of the most overharvested aromatic woods in the world. The high demand for Santalum alba has led to illegal harvesting and significant depletion of native populations.

Australian-grown sandalwood offers a more sustainable alternative, with regulated harvesting and replanting programs in place. Supporting responsibly sourced sandalwood helps preserve both the species and the communities involved in its cultivation.

Fun facts about sandalwood:

  • Sandalwood essential oil is harvested when the trees are between 30 and 50 years old—good things DO come to those who wait! The oil has been used in perfumery for over 2000 years and is generally considered safe during pregnancy.
  • Sandalwood has a scandalous history, mostly centered around illegal smuggling of the highly valuable wood and essential oil. The most famous sandalwood smuggler was an Indian bandit called Veerappan, who murdered over 100 people in his smuggling career, and was finally killed by a special task force called Operation Cocoon in 2004. The Indian people celebrated his death. He was also an elephant poacher, so he was a doubly unpopular guy.
  • One last fact: Sandalwood trees are parasitic in nature, meaning that they derive some or all of their nutrients from the roots of other living plants. (Feed me, Seymour!) As you can imagine, this makes it all the more difficult to grow, as you have to provide adequate host plants in addition to the sandalwood trees themselves.

With love and so much (sustainably-sourced) sandalwood from us to you,

Azulene Is K-Beauty’s Latest Ingredient for Sensitive Skin

0

Almost every day, I scroll through Olive Young’s Korean website like it’s TikTok. I’m always on the hunt for emerging K-beauty trends, and the best-selling products and ingredients at the South Korean mega-retailer tend to influence beauty shelves here in the US months later.

In February, I started noticing an onslaught of sky-blue formulas designed for sensitive skin hitting Olive Young’s virtual shelves. They all touted the same ingredient: azulene. (You might see it listed on product labels as guaiazulene, the stabilized form most commonly used in skin care, says Kunal Malik, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City.)

Intrigued, I reached out to Hee Jin Kim, MD, one half of a sister duo that runs PureenMD Skin and Well-Aging Center, with locations in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and Seoul, to find out whether azulene is poised to be K-beauty’s next trendy ingredient based on what she’s seeing in her South Korea office.

“Yes, very much so,” confirmed Dr. Kim. “Many Korean beauty [content creators] have been actively reviewing azulene-containing products recently, particularly those focused on calming and post-procedure care.” One creator in particular, Inssi, is often credited for sparking the rising popularity of azulene. She has posted several videos over the past year highlighting the ingredient’s skin-cooling and blemish-soothing powers.

I marveled at how quickly the products visibly calmed her redness. Much like a dog that barks at every little noise and passerby, my skin is reactive. The wind, temperature changes, and even a light touch can trigger redness and sensitivity. I’m also prone to painful hormonal breakouts, so my skin is the ultimate litmus test for any new calming ingredient, and I immediately knew my routine needed some azulene.

Dr. Althea

Aqua Marine Deep Serum

One problem: Many of Korea’s buzziest azulene formulas aren’t available just yet stateside, but there are a few options available to US consumers. I got my hands on the Dr. Althea Aqua Marine Deep Serum. My skin loved the cobalt-blue formula so much that I recommended it to my sister, whose skin is even more reactive than mine. She went through a whole bottle in less than a month because she was reaching for it every morning, night, and after working out.

Ahead, experts explain exactly what azulene is and how it works to soothe skin.

What is azulene, and what are its benefits?

Azulene is a naturally occurring, deep-blue hydrocarbon most commonly extracted from chamomile, says Y. Claire Chang, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in New York City. Even though chamomile blooms with little white flowers and turns water golden when steeped as tea, it contains this special compound that tints skin-care products varying shades of blue, depending on how much is used in the formulation.

The Pro Guide to Bridal Hair Prep

0

Your wedding day hair doesn’t start the morning of.

It’s made in the weeks and months leading up to the big day. The quiet rituals, weekly masks, scalp scrubs, the decision to start now, rather than later.

In four decades of bridal work for some of the world’s most photographed royal and celebrity weddings, our founder Wendy Iles has seen it all, and one thing has never changed. The brides happiest with their hair started prepping weeks before.

6 WEEKS OUT (OR MORE): Decide on your look.

The most important step and one some brides still skip. Before you touch a product, before you book a trial, go to your stylist with a Pinterest board. Not a vague idea, a real visual of what you like. Tear pages from magazines. Screenshot editorials. Create a mood board and bring it to the appointment. Your hairdresser cannot read your mind, but they can execute a vision. So give them one.

Because your hair on the big wedding day is not the time to try something new.

Back view of bride with sleek blonde low bun and gold drop earrings, white spaghetti strap wedding dress, warm interior light, editorial bridal beauty portrait

4 WEEKS BEFORE: Start masking regularly.

If you do nothing else, do this. Begin weekly masking with the Iles Formula Hair Mask 4-6 weeks before your wedding, and your hair will be in the best condition of its life by the time you walk down the aisle.

Begin to apply generously from mid-length to ends, leave for 10–20 minutes, then rinse. The more consistently you do this, the more the results compound.

The Iles Formula Nurture Pack, which includes our Shampoo, Mask, and Conditioner, is the complete bridal prep system. Start it now.

les Formula Haute Performance Hair Mask product shot alongside woman with white towel turban, back view, bridal hair prep ritual, 4 weeks before wedding masking routine

2 WEEKS BEFORE: Commit to your rituals.

By now, your hair should already begin to feel and behave differently. Continue the weekly mask. Wash with the shampoo, condition, finish with the Iles Formula Finishing Serum every time you style. Let the products do the work. Remember: this is not the moment to introduce anything new – stay the course.

THE BIG DAY: Trust the process.

You’ve done the work. You have your look confirmed, your stylist briefed, your hair in the best condition it’s ever been in. The morning of your wedding is not the moment for decisions – it’s the moment to arrive, hand over, and trust.

The hair of your life was built in the weeks before this moment. It’s already there.

How to Match Shoes to Your Outfit Without a Massive Shoe Collection — Inside Out Style

0

twitterpinterestlinkedinmail

You do not need a wardrobe full of shoes to create stylish, cohesive outfits.

In fact, having too many options often makes getting dressed harder, not easier. What matters far more is choosing the right shoes that work across multiple outfits and occasions.

When you understand how to match your shoes to your outfit using a few simple principles, you can create endless combinations with a much smaller, more intentional collection.

Start with Versatile Shoe Colours

If you want to simplify your shoe wardrobe, begin with colour. Rather than buying a different pair for every outfit, focus on a small number of highly versatile options that will work across your wardrobe.

There are three key colour strategies that make this easy.

The first is a shoe in your hair colour. This creates a visual connection between the top and bottom of your body. It feels balanced and intentional, and it works with almost any outfit. Whether it is boots, sandals, or sneakers, this is one of the most versatile choices you can make. My recommendation is to have a variety of shoes in your hair colour, sandals in summer,  boots in winter and a ballet flat or loafer that is more transseasonal.  This is because you’re always wearing your hair, and the visual grouping (technical term) of creating a bookend with your hair and your feet creates an aesthetically pleasing effect.

match shoes to hair

The second is a nude shoe. This is particularly useful with skirts and dresses. When the shoe blends with your skin tone, it visually elongates your legs and keeps the focus on your outfit rather than your footwear.

Nude shoes are great with skirts and dresses

The third is a neutral that relates to your wardrobe, other than your hair colour. If you wear a lot of navy, a navy or deep blue shoe will integrate seamlessly. If your wardrobe leans towards browns or earthy tones, a shoe in that colour family will feel cohesive and easy to style.

blend shoes to your bottom or to your hairWith just these three colour directions, you can cover the majority of your outfits without needing endless variations.

Match the Level of Formality

Colour is only part of the equation. The style of the shoe also needs to match the level of formality of your outfit.

Think of your shoes in three broad categories.

You have your more formal or dressy shoes. These might include heels, refined flats, or elegant boots. These work best with structured outfits or occasions where you want to feel polished.

Then there is your smart-casual-to-casual category. This includes loafers, simple sneakers, ankle boots, or relaxed flats. These are often the most worn shoes in your wardrobe as they bridge comfort and style.

Finally, there are your very casual or leisure shoes. These are your most relaxed options, designed for comfort and practicality rather than polish.

When your shoe matches the formality of your outfit, everything feels more aligned. When it does not, the outfit can feel slightly off, even if you cannot immediately explain why.

What's in your shoe wardrobe? Understand all the aspects of choosing shoesConsider Proportion and Leg Line

The shape of your shoe also affects how your outfit looks on your body.

One of the most important elements to understand is the vamp of the shoe. This refers to how much of your foot the shoe covers.

A lower vamp, which exposes more of the top of your foot, creates a longer leg line. This is particularly helpful if you feel your legs are shorter or if you are wearing skirts and dresses.

A higher vamp can shorten the visual line of the leg, which may or may not be something you want depending on your proportions and outfit.

These small details make a significant difference. When your shoes support your proportions, your whole outfit feels more balanced.

Which shoe vamp to choose - discover which is ideal for you and your outfitLet Your Lifestyle Guide Your Choices

The most practical shoe wardrobe is one that reflects how you actually live.

If you spend most of your time in casual settings, it makes sense to invest more in your everyday shoes. If you attend regular events or work in a more formal environment, you may need a stronger focus on dressier options.

Rather than aiming for a perfectly balanced theoretical wardrobe, build one that aligns with your real life.

This is where many women go wrong. They buy for a life they imagine rather than the one they are living day to day.

What's in your shoe wardrobe? Understand all the aspects of choosing shoesPersonality and Comfort Still Matter

Even the most practical shoe strategy needs to reflect your personal style and comfort preferences.

If a shoe is not comfortable, you will not wear it. If it does not feel like you, it will sit in your wardrobe untouched.

This is where your personality comes into play. You might prefer classic, minimal styles, or you may enjoy something with more detail or interest. Both are valid. What matters is that your shoes feel like a natural extension of your overall style.

A Smarter Approach to Your Shoe Wardrobe

When you combine these elements, colour, formality, proportion, lifestyle, and personality, you create a shoe wardrobe that works far harder with far fewer pieces.

Instead of asking, “What shoes match this outfit?” you begin to ask, “Do these shoes align with my outfit, my lifestyle, and my style?”

That shift changes everything.

You no longer need a massive collection. You need a thoughtful one.

And when your shoes truly support your wardrobe, getting dressed becomes simpler, faster, and far more enjoyable.

Good news from the beauty industry that will make you smile

If your newsfeed has felt overwhelmingly negative lately, this episode of the Green Beauty Conversations podcast is exactly the antidote you need.

While headlines often focus on conflict, crisis and environmental decline, there’s another side to the beauty industry – one filled with innovators, changemakers and entrepreneurs quietly building solutions for a better future.

In this uplifting episode, Formula Botanica CEO and podcast host Lorraine Dallmeier takes a step back and reflects on the inspiring people she has interviewed over the years on the podcast.

From ingredient suppliers turning food waste into valuable cosmetic materials, to companies restoring forests and marine ecosystems while supporting local livelihoods, the stories reveal a powerful pattern: across the globe, people in the beauty industry are independently arriving at the same hopeful conclusions about regeneration, sustainability and responsible business.

Last week’s interview with John Goedschalk of BioTara highlighted how innovation can drive positive change in beauty.

This week’s episode zooms out even further to connect the dots between many of the podcast’s most inspiring guests. The result is a collection of stories that demonstrate how the beauty industry – particularly at the grassroots level – can truly be a force for good.

“When you zoom out and connect all these dots, something becomes very clear – this isn’t isolated good behaviour. It’s a pattern.”— Lorraine Dallmeier

Key takeaways:

  • Waste is increasingly being reimagined as a valuable resource: In episode 211, Lorraine spoke with Harry McIlwraith of the Upcycled Beauty Company about transforming food industry by-products – such as berry seeds and spent grains – into cosmetic ingredients. Rather than allowing these materials to go to waste, the company recovers and repurposes them into valuable formulation inputs. A similar approach appears in episode 199, where Thomas Kerfoot of O&3 and Inky Ingredients explains how fruit waste from juice and jam production is cold-pressed into high-quality oils. Even the remaining by-products are redirected into animal feed, showing how thoughtful design can eliminate waste across the entire supply chain.
  • Protecting ecosystems and local livelihoods: Several podcast guests have demonstrated how ethical sourcing can benefit both people and nature. In episode 239, Jane Dunlop of aluan discussed producing coconut oil on a small Indonesian island while protecting surrounding rainforest and marine ecosystems. Episode 255 featured Chloé Vallée from Primegreen, who works with Amazonian communities to help them become long-term ingredient suppliers rather than exploited resource providers. This same philosophy appears in episode 289, where Asa Suguitan of Essential Farms & Forests described the long-term restoration of Hawaii’s sandalwood forests, and in episode 291, where Alexander van Oord of ForestWise explained sourcing models designed to keep forests standing by default.
  • Seaweed innovation to support marine regeneration: In episode 235, Catarina Ricca of Ínclita Seaweed Solutions discussed working with Portuguese coastal communities to harvest seaweed in ways that actively regenerate marine ecosystems. Episode 181 highlighted a different approach, as Geoff Chapin of Carbonwave described transforming problematic sargassum seaweed blooms in the Caribbean into cosmetic emulsifiers. Meanwhile, in episode 215, Matthew Perkins of Macro Oceans shared how ocean farming in Alaska can grow seaweed sustainably for cosmetic ingredients without fertilisers, pesticides or waste.
  • Sustainability requires proper infrastructure behind the scenes: In episode 203, Joel Tasche of CleanHub explained the importance of waste management infrastructure to prevent plastic from being burned or dumped in regions without proper disposal systems. Episode 265 continued this conversation with Carly Snider of the PACT Collective, who discussed what happens to beauty packaging after consumers discard it. She described the painstaking processes involved in collecting, sorting and recycling beauty packaging – highlighting how meaningful change depends on building systems that make responsible choices possible.
  • A regenerative beauty industry supports both ecosystems and people: In episode 213, Lorraine spoke with Ruth Andrade from Lush about the broader meaning of regeneration in beauty. Their conversation explored how the industry can move beyond harmful beauty standards and instead help people feel more comfortable in their own bodies and connected to the world around them. This perspective ties together the many stories shared in this episode – reminding us that a truly regenerative beauty industry protects ecosystems, empowers communities and supports human wellbeing at the same time.
