Daydreamer Gel Marbling with a Textured Accent Nail | Chalkboard Nails

0

Hi everyone! I’m off to New York City this week for a really amazing opportunity… I can’t wait to share more with you! Follow me on Snapchat to keep up with my adventures!

This nail look is something that I experimented with a while ago. All of the flat, non 3D nails were created with variations on my favorite gel marbling technique, while the 3D nail was something I tried and think I could do better if I were to try it again. Read on for details!

Daydreamer Nail Art @chalkboardnails

I used the OPI Venice collection in GelColor for this look.

  • OPI GelColor I Cannoli Wear OPI
  • OPI GelColor Gelato On My Mind
  • OPI GelColor Or Suzi Mio
  • OPI GelColor Purple Palazzo Pants

Marbled Nails How To

Begin by prepping your nails for a gel application and applying your base coat. Cure.

Apply a single coat of base color and cure. Apply a second coat of base color, but don’t cure! Drop spots of other colors of gel into the uncured layer, and then use a clean striper brush to swirl around the colors. Cure.

Finish with a coat of top gel, cure, and cleanse.

As for the textured nail, I was aiming for a kind of matte/shiny alligator skin texture. If I were to do it again, I would use a structure gel or some gel resin to create the texture, as it would hold up better and allow me to be more precise with the placement!

Textured Nail How To

Begin by prepping your nails for gel and applying gel base coat. Cure.

Apply two coats of gel color, curing between each. Apply your top coat and cure, then cleanse.

Use a fine grit buffer to lightly buff the surface of the nail until it is evenly matte. Using a nail art brush, apply gel resin, structure gel, or gel topcoat generously in your alligator-skin pattern. Cure and cleanse.

Lip Oil vs Lip Balm vs Lip Gloss: What’s the Difference?

0

Lip care isn’t what it used to be. As skincare has evolved, so have the products we reach for to keep our lips soft, smooth, and healthy-looking. That’s why so many people find themselves asking: Is lip oil the same as lip gloss? Or lip oil vs lip balm—which is better?

The truth? Lip oils bring something entirely new to the table. Take the HydraKate™ Pro-Collagen Lip Oil Elixirfor example—it’s not just about adding shine; it’s about real skincare for your lips, powered by collagen-supporting technology and intense hydration.

Want to learn what makes lip oils truly unique? And What Is Lip Oil? And the Lip Oil Benefits Explained.

Lip Oil vs Lip Balm: Which One Does More for Your Lips?

When it comes to lip oil vs lip balmthe difference is all about depth.

Traditional lip balms sit on the surface of your lips. Their job? To create a barrier that locks in existing moisture and helps prevent dryness. While balms feel comforting, they don’t usually deliver active skincare benefits beneath the surface.

Lip oils, on the other hand, are designed to do more. Formulated with lightweight, nourishing oils and often boosted with actives, they sink into your lips—hydrating deeply, smoothing fine lip lines, and helping lips look healthier over time.

The HydraKate™ Pro-Collagen Lip Oil Elixir goes even further. It pairs hydration with pro-collagen technology to help reduce the look of fine lines and support a fuller appearance. Think of it as daily lip care that treats your lips the way you’d treat your skin: beyond surface moisture to visible results.

Is Lip Oil the Same as Lip Gloss?

Short answer? No—but it’s a fair question.

Both lip oils and lip gloss add shine. But is lip oil the same as lip gloss? Not quite.

Lip gloss is purely cosmetic. It gives your lips that reflective, glossy look—but it doesn’t actively hydrate, smooth, or treat. Many glosses can even feel sticky or wear off quickly.

Lip oils are treatment-first. They combine shine with real skincare benefits, thanks to nourishing oils and active ingredients. So, what is the difference between lip oil and lip gloss? Gloss is about looks; lip oil is about looks and lip health.

Choosing the Best Lip Product for Your Routine

So which should you keep in your bag? Here’s a quick guide:

  • Lip balm: Great for classic, quick-fix moisture, especially in dry climates or before bed.

  • Lip gloss: Perfect when you only want shine and a touch of color for day or night.

  • Lip oil (like the HydraKate™ Pro-Collagen Lip Oil Elixir): Ideal when you want the high-gloss look and real skincare benefits—hydration, smoothing, and collagen support.

Lip Oil (e.g., HydraKate™ Pro-Collagen Lip Oil Elixir)

Lip Balm

Lip Gloss

Purpose

Skincare-first: hydrates, smooths lip lines, supports collagen

Protects lips by sealing in moisture

Adds shine and sometimes color

Feel & Finish

Lightweight, high-shine, non-sticky

Creamy or waxy, mostly matte or subtle sheen

Glossy, often sticky

Skincare Benefits

Deep hydration, plumping effect, barrier support

Surface moisture protection only

Primarily cosmetic, minimal treatment benefits

The HydraKate™ Pro-Collagen Lip Oil Elixir delivers a beautiful, non-sticky shine while helping lips feel softer and look fuller over time.

The Synergy of Using Lip Oil, Lip Balm, and Lip Gloss Together

Integrating all three—lip balm, an hydrating lip oil, and lip gloss—can amplify both treatment and beauty benefits. Start with a lip balm to secure a moisture-locking base. Follow with a lip oil for profound hydration and nourishment. Seal the regimen with a gloss, creating a glossy finish that enhances both color and condition. This layered approach not only elevates your lip care but also complements a thoughtful anti-aging skin care routine, delivering the ultimate in hydration, shine, and visible lip enhancement.

Lip Oil, Lip Balm, and Lip Gloss: Ingredient Insights

Explore the nourishing ingredients across lip oils, balms, and glosses. Lip oils excel in infused nutrients like jojoba and avocado oils, offering unrivaled hydration for soft and plump lips. Meanwhile, lip balms often utilize beeswax or shea butter, working as a shield to lock in natural moisture and prevent chapped lips. Lip glosses, with their vibrant hues and shine, serve a cosmetic purpose more than hydration. By discerning these ingredients, you can more effectively choose what aligns with your lip care goals, whether it’s the deep restoration of a lip oil, the defending nature of a lip balm, or the chic sparkle of a lip gloss.

Deciding Between Lip Oil, Lip Balm, and Lip Gloss

Contemplating which lip product to incorporate involves assessing your skin’s needs and desired look. Lip oils excel at intensive hydration and subtle luminescence, ideal for parched or maturing skin. Lip balms provide protection against external factors, suitable for daily moisture. Lip glosses diversify with numerous shades, embellishing makeup through color and a glossy finish. Recognizing these elements ensures the finest care and the desired look is attained for your lips.

Why the HydraKate™ Pro-Collagen Lip Oil Elixir Stands Out

While many lip products do just one thing, the HydraKate™ Pro-Collagen Lip Oil Elixir is a true multitasker. It hydrates deeply with hyaluronic acid, smooths lip lines, supports collagen for a plumper look, and helps strengthen the delicate lip barrier—all wrapped in a glossy, comfortable finish.

It’s not just lip care; it’s skincare for your lips. And that’s what makes it different from classic balms or glosses: modern, clinically inspired care that treats your lips with the same level of science and luxury as the rest of your skincare routine, including essential steps like exfoliating your skin to reveal smoother, healthier-looking results.

Vampy Lips How To

Haus Labs Garnet Lip Crayon look by Cordelia FrostHaus Labs Garnet Lip Crayon look by Cordelia Frost

While I used Buxom Cosmetics Powerful Plum Power Line Lip Pencil to create this look, a black or dark purple lip pencil would add more depth and dimension. Next time I create this Autumn Vampy lip combo, I’ll be using Half-Magic Beauty Badassery Sculptitude 2-in-1 Lip Liner (black matte) to outline my lips, then fill in with Haus Labs Garnet Le Monster Lip Crayon.

Smoky Eyes How To

Smokey Eyes Tutorial by Cordelia FrostSmokey Eyes Tutorial by Cordelia Frost

Here’s how I created this simple smoky eye look.

  1. I applied Danessa Myricks Universal Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder to the lids and lower lids as a primer.
  2. Tightlined the upper and lower lash line with Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Eyeliner pencil. Then I lined the upper and lower lash line and took a pencil brush to smudge it up and out into a wing shape. I did this twice to get it to my desired opacity.
  3. Next I layered Black Moon Meow (matte grey) from the Cat’s Meow Palette with a pencil brush on top of Perversion to smoke it out more as liner.
  4. I swiped on REM Beauty Fembot Lustrous Liquid Eyeshadow and blended it out with my fingertips, all the way to my eyebrows.
  5. Next I patted  Silk Naturals Kaleidoscope Loose Eyeshadow onto the lid.
  6. I layered more Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Eyeliner pencil at the outer part of the liner to intensify it more and smudged it again with a pencil brush.
  7. To complete the look, I added Thrive Causemetics Brynn Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara

Autumn Vampy Lip Combo Guide

As I mentioned above, to create more drama with my Autumn Vampy Lip Combo, next time I’ll use a black lip liner instead of a rich plum. Below are some of my favorite products for creating vampy lips. Start with the darkest color to outline the lips, then choose a lipstick or lipgloss to fill in your lips. Below are my favorite options.

  • Half-Magic Beauty Badassery Sculptitude 2-in-1 Lip Liner (black and taupe color options)
  • Buxom Cosmetics Powerful Plum Power Line Lip Pencil (deep plum)
  • Haus Labs Garnet The Monster Lip Crayon
  • Half Magic Beauty Magic Drip Glitter Lip Glosses – Problem Child (black), Blushing Lizard (mauve taupe), and Chaos Prone (cool brown) are especially great for an Autumn vampy lip combo
  • Urban Decay Cosmetics Vice Lip Bond Glossy Longwear Liquid Lipsticks – Raw Footage (burgundy wine), Unbreakable (red), and Indie Sleaze (black)
  • Silk Naturals Slick Sticks – Hex (burgundy with orange and pink shifts), Potion (multicolor holographic black), Popsicle (dark berry) (These are glosses in stick form and are perfect for layering on top of pencils)
  • Silk Naturals Velvet Matte Lipsticks – Belladonna (dark plum), Antici…pation (deep berry red), Corker (deep wine plum), Marsala (deep plum red brown), Obsession (medium dusty plum), Resort (lavender plum), and Subterranean (dark grey).
  • Black Moon Cosmetics Liquid Lipsticks – So many options!!! Armageddon (blackened metallic red), Immortal (warm blackened purple wine), Eternal (blackend rose gold), Abyss (burgundy), Haunting (deep coffee nude)

I’ve included some lip swatch videos below to show you some of these shades!

There are so many great lipstick shades to use from Black Moon Cosmetics for autumn vampy lips.

I love my long wearing lipsticks!

Final Thoughts

2025 has been a very challenging, stressful, exhausting year. It’s been filled with some amazing highs but some incredibly scary lows. I hate the changes that I’ve seen happen here in the USA.  The things happening in the world negatively impact my ability to make content. Between work and the projects I’m working on outside of work, I struggle to find the time to make content that you’ll enjoy. So rather than put up something lackluster, I’d rather not post until I can make something better.

I’ve mentioned it other places, but I took all social media off my phone so that I won’t doom scroll. Instead, I’m reading books. According to Kindle, I’ve read 80 books so far this year, though it’s well over 80 because some of those books were 3 to 10 books instead of just 1 book in kindle format. I do pop in the Facebook group daily to check in and say hi.

Have you done any favorite lip or eye makeup combos recently? What’s your favorite Autumn vampy lip combo? Let me know below!

Hair Styling Mistakes You Should Avoid for Healthy Hair — Posh Lifestyle & Beauty Blog

0

Healthy hair can help you look and feel confident. Unfortunately, many people damage their hair without even knowing it. Applying the wrong styling practices can leave your hair weak, dry, and damaged. Luckily, knowing the common mistakes can help you protect your hair.

In this article, we will provide you with the most common hair styling mistakes and how to resolve them. Whether you’re doing your hair at home or going to professionals like MacGregor Hairdressingwe can help you protect your hair from damage and maintain shiny and healthy hair!

Using Too Much Heat on Your Hair

Heat styling tools like straighteners, curling irons, and blow dryers are beneficial for hair when you need to style it fast but as you can imagine, overusing these tools can result in damaged, dried out, and brittle hair. High heat will rid your strands of moisture and eventually your hair may appear flat, lifeless, and dull.

To prevent this from happening, you should always invest in a heat protectant spray to use prior to styling your hair. Aim to use the lowest temperature setting on your styling tools. Allow your hair to air-dry as much as possible to prevent further heat damage.

Skipping Hair Protection in the Sun

Your hair can be affected by the sun in the same way that your skin can be affected. The ultraviolet (UV) rays in the sun’s light can dry out your hair, fade its natural color, and weaken the strands. Do you remember to protect your hair before you spend time in the sun?

If you are going to leave the house or are going to be outdoors during the day, it is helpful to wear a hat or hair products that provide UV protection for your hair. This will help keep your hair soft and strong.

Washing Your Hair Too Often

Washing your hair daily can be a great routine, but it usually removes the natural oils your scalp produces. These oils are crucial to protecting and hydrating your hair. If you skip those natural oils, your hair will likely become misshapen and frizzy.

Try not washing your hair every day and wash it two to three times a week. Use gentle shampoo and conditioner and your scalp should stay healthy!

Tight Hairstyles That Pull on the Roots

Tight ponytails, buns, and braids may look stylish, but they can put too much pressure on your hair roots. This can lead to hair breakage and even hair loss over time.

Choose looser hairstyles whenever you can. If you love tying your hair up, switch the position of your ponytail to avoid putting stress on the same spot every day.

Conclusion

Your daily habits play a big role in the health of your hair. By avoiding these styling mistakes, you can protect your hair from damage and keep it strong, shiny, and beautiful. Remember, healthy hair needs gentle care and the right products.

Take the time to treat your hair wellit will reward you with the confidence that comes from having gorgeous, healthy locks.

Week 2 Wrap: my 30 day style challenge (30 new outfits, no shopping, no repeats!)

0

I actually think it’s been more than two weeks (It feels like about week SIX already haha!) but apparently we’re over 1/2 way of me trying to create 30 new looks from my existing wardrobe.

So here’s what I’ve learnt in week 2:

1️⃣ I definitely have a default look – wide leg pants, a big jersey or shirt and trainers, and I’m here for it! I’ve definitely got enough of all of the above to sustain me.

2️⃣  I’d like to try this again when it’s a little warmer and my first thought isn’t about how to keep warm that day

3️⃣  I don’t actually get “dressed” every day… haha! I’ve spent a few days working from home in either my Pilates gear from my 6:30 am class, or my tracksuit because it’s freezing.

Why am I doing this I hear you ask?

I know I usually bang on about getting the most out of your clothes, looking at different ways to wear the same things, which is very much still my philosophy… But I also see with almost EVERY SINGLE styling client, a wardrobe full of perfectly good clothes they are either bored with, or don’t know how to wear.

I wanted to prove to myself, and to you, that actually, you’ve probably (and I’ve definitely) got more than enough clothes to have a functional wardrobe full of ‘fits you love. By not allowing myself to repeat-wear anything for the month, I’m having to go deeper into my wardrobe than just my current faves that are on repeat because they are a)new, or b) easy or c) new & easy.

So let’s see what I’ve worn this week:

It’s been dark, raining, and windy so sometimes not the best photos, but I’m definitely having fun challenging myself! Now, onto week three!

Are you playing along at home? Or is this challenge at least inspiring you to branch out in your wardrobe a little? I hope so!

If you’d like to follow along, I’m sharing videos and photos over on Instagram too, see you there!

Meet the man restoring Hawaii’s forests with sustainable sandalwood

0

When we talk about natural beauty, we often imagine lush forests and pristine ingredients. But how often do we ask ourselves whether those forests are thriving or vanishing?

The truth is that the botanicals we celebrate in natural beauty are inseparable from the health of the ecosystems they grow in. When forests are degraded, we don’t just lose biodiversity – we risk losing rare, place-based ingredients that connect us deeply to nature.

In this episode of Green Beauty Conversations, Lorraine Dallmeier speaks with Asa Suguitan, co-founder of Hawaii Sandalwood, who is working to restore one of the rarest ecosystems in the world – Hawaii’s tropical dryland forest.

Asa’s family’s project is the only source of organic, eco-certified sandalwood products in the USA, and it’s built on a radical approach: harvesting only dead or dying trees while replanting 16 native Hawaiian species. The result is a model of sustainability that protects a unique species of sandalwood found only on Hawaii’s Big Island.

This is more than a conversation about cosmetic ingredients – it’s about rightthe Hawaiian principle of responsibility to the land. And Asa’s story shows how regenerative sourcing can fund reforestation, rebuild habitats and produce extraordinary ingredients for the beauty industry.

If you care about sustainability, you’ll want to hear how Hawaii Sandalwood is bringing forests – and hope – back to life.

Listen here

“In Hawaii, we have a belief that if you take care of the land, the land will take care of you.” — Asa Suguitan

In this episode with Asa Suguitan, you will hear:

  • The vision behind restoring Hawaii’s sandalwood forests: Asa explains how his uncle’s dream in 2009 to purchase degraded land sparked a reforestation project that has since transformed part of Hawaii’s rare tropical dryland forest.
  • Why only dead or dying trees are harvested: Asa shares how this practice not only prevents further harm to the ecosystem but also encourages new sandalwood saplings to grow from existing root networks.
  • The unique nature of Hawaiian sandalwood: Discover how Sandalwood paniculatefound only on Hawaii’s Big Island, differs chemically and historically from Indian and Australian sandalwood.
  • How hydrosols and essential oils fund reforestation: Asa reveals the innovative ways Hawaii Sandalwood turns by-products such as fine sandalwood dust and hydrosols into valuable cosmetic ingredients that support forest restoration.
  • Collaboration with global farms and forests: This episode also explores Asa’s role in Essential Botanical Farms & Forests, a network of like-minded growers worldwide who are creating a new model for regenerative ingredient supply.

Key takeouts include:

  • Reforestation as a business model: Hawaii Sandalwood demonstrates that ecological restoration and ingredient production are not mutually exclusive. By using only dead sandalwood trees, the company ensures both regeneration and revenue, creating what Asa calls a virtuous cycle between forest health and ingredient quality.
  • The ecological importance of sandalwood: As a semi-parasitic tree, sandalwood depends on surrounding species to thrive. This means that restoring sandalwood also requires rebuilding entire ecosystems, including 16 other native Hawaiian species. A healthy forest enables sandalwood to flourish without harming its host trees.
  • Hydrosols as a powerful natural ingredient: Beyond essential oils, sandalwood hydrosol has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. Tested against acne, dandruff, and staphylococcusit offers formulators a sustainable water replacement that carries functional skin and hair benefits.
  • Global cooperation for regenerative ingredients: Through Essential Botanical Farms & Forests, Asa helps coordinate projects from Ecuador to North America and Japan. These farms grow ingredients within their native ecosystems, focusing on reforestation and habitat restoration rather than high-yield monocultures. Together, they offer traceable, story-rich ingredients to the beauty industry.
  • Accessibility for indie brands: Unlike many bulk ingredient suppliers, Hawaii Sandalwood and its partner farms keep minimum order quantities low so that small beauty brands can access high-quality, regenerative ingredients without prohibitive costs.

Meet our guest: Asa Suguitain, co-founder of Hawaii Sandalwood LLC

APodcast 289: Meet the man restoring Hawaii’s forests with sustainable sandalwoodPodcast 289: Meet the man restoring Hawaii’s forests with sustainable sandalwoodsa Suguitan is the co-founder of Hawaii Sandalwood LLC, a family-owned business dedicated to reforestation, education, and environmental responsibility.

Hawaii Sandalwood produces the only organic, eco-certified sandalwood products made in the USA, strictly harvesting only dead or dying trees and replanting 16 native Hawaiian species to ensure long-term viability.

In addition to his work in Hawaii, Asa is also a founding partner of Essential Botanical Farms & Forests, a global network of farms and forests committed to reforestation, habitat restoration, and regenerative agricultural practices.

Whether you’re perfecting your beard game or investing in your skin, this year’s grooming trends are designed to help you look sharp and feel confident.

1. Skincare for Men Goes High-Tech

In 2025, men’s skincare is smarter, cleaner, and more personalized. AI-powered skin scanners and customizable serums are transforming how men care for their faces. Instead of a one-size-fits-all moisturizer, men are opting for targeted products that address their specific skin type and concerns—such as dryness, oil control, anti-aging, or post-shave irritation.

Brands are also prioritizing clean beauty and sustainable ingredientsmaking natural grooming products a top choice for eco-conscious men. Think vegan moisturizers, biodegradable face wipesand serums infused with adaptogens and antioxidants.

2. Beard Grooming Is Still King

Beards continue to dominate men’s grooming trends in 2025, but the look has evolved. Sharp, sculpted lines are giving way to a more natural, healthy, and well-maintained beard. Men are focusing on hydration and softnessusing high-quality beard oils, balms, and serums enriched with jojoba and argan oil.

For those with patchy growth, beard-enhancing tools like derma rollers and nutrient serums are more popular than ever. Grooming professionals recommend regular trimming, exfoliating the skin beneath, and keeping a consistent care routine to achieve that effortlessly polished look.

3. Precision Shaving Makes a Comeback

While beards reign supreme, classic wet shaving is having a major revival. In 2025, more men are ditching disposable razors in favor of safety razors and shaving soaps for a cleaner, closer, and more sustainable shave. Pairing a quality razor with pre-shave oils and soothing aftershaves helps reduce irritation and ingrown hairs, delivering a smooth and professional finish.

4. Haircare and Scalp Health Matter More Than Ever

Men’s grooming routines are no longer just from the neck up—they start at the scalp. Thinning hair, dryness, and scalp buildup are major concerns. This year, men are turning to scalp exfoliation, thickening shampoosand nutrient-rich tonics to maintain healthy hair growth. Stylish, low-maintenance cuts that emphasize natural texture are trending, making grooming faster and easier.

5. Fragrance Layering and Signature Scents

The modern man isn’t settling for just one cologne anymore. Fragrance layering—combining complementary scents—is a big trend in 2025. From woody and earthy to citrus and aquatic, men are creating signature scent profiles that express their personal style.

Final Thoughts: Confidence Starts with Grooming

The men’s grooming landscape in 2025 is about self-expression, sustainability, and smart routines. Investing in high-quality products and dedicating time to your grooming routine isn’t vanity—it’s self-care. Whether you’re upgrading your skincare, shaping your beard, or discovering a new signature scent, these grooming trends will help you look and feel your best all year long.

5 Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Lash Adhesive — EBLLashes

0

When it comes to creating flawless lash sets, your adhesive is just as important as your technique. A fresh, well-cared-for adhesive ensures better retention, smoother application, and happier clients. At EBL Lashes, we know that every drop counts, so here are 5 expert tips to help you get the most out of your lash adhesive.

1. Store Your Adhesive Properly

Keep your adhesive in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If you have extra bottles, you can store them in the fridge until you’re ready to use them. Proper storage helps preserve the adhesive’s consistency and performance.

2. Shake Before Each Use

Before starting a set, shake your adhesive well to make sure all ingredients are fully mixed. Pro tip: remove the lid and cover the nozzle with an adhesive wipe while shaking—this prevents any product from getting stuck and clogging the nozzle.

3. Keep the Nozzle Clean

After each use, wipe the nozzle clean with an adhesive wipe. A clean nozzle prevents buildup, clogs, and ensures your bottle stays in good condition until it’s finished.

4. Replace Regularly

Even with perfect storage, lash adhesive doesn’t last forever. For best results, replace your adhesive every 4–8 weeks. To stay on track, mark the date you opened your bottle with a fine-point Sharpie. That way, you’ll never second-guess when it’s time for a new one.

5. Burp the Bottle

When dispensing, gently squeeze the bottle and give it a small “burp” to release any trapped air. This helps maintain the adhesive’s integrity and prevents premature curing inside the bottle.
