The Noncommittal Bob Will Be 2026’s Biggest Haircut Trend

0

Lori Harvey, Selena Gomez, and Hailey Bieber do not have magical powers (that we know of), but they do have the power to change the length of their hair with just a few flicks of a styling wand. All three women have what I like to call “The Better Bob.” It’s basically a lob (as in, long bob) that gives the illusion of a bob, depending on how you manipulate the ends. When you’re no longer feeling the bob, you can easily transition back to longer strands with just one swoop of a brush, making it the perfect noncommittal haircut.

Though it’s had a major resurgence, this cut isn’t totally new: In the ‘90s, Naomi Campbell, Julia Roberts, and Jennifer Anniston opted for collarbone-grazing, medium length hair over the short bobs and pixies of the time—often styling their length with bumped ends, tousled curls, or voluminous layers that straddled the line between bob and lob so, well, you couldn’t quite tell which it was.

A modern case in point: Selena Gomez’s Instagram feed. In one post, the singer’s hair is in a flowy lob that grazes her shoulder blades, but in a post just a day later, she has a voluminous bob that sits right at the nape of her neck. Part of me wanted to attribute this beautiful sorcery to extensions, but my beauty editor Spidey sense told me otherwise. There it was: The Better Bob.

How to Deal With Being Single During the Holidays

0

Despite the fact that there’s nothing inherently sexy or romantic about winter, the season has somehow become known for its “cuffing.” Couples start to pair off, holiday rom-coms take over our screens, and the inevitable “Are you seeing anyone special?” questions from nosy relatives roll in.

Even if you’re totally okay with your relationship status, being single during the holidays can be especially difficult thanks to all the pressure and expectations built into this time of year. So for anyone who’s feeling lonely, isolated, or anxious right now, here are a few ways to survive—and actually enjoy—the next few weeks.

1. Embrace your desire for a relationship, but don’t let it define your worth.

There’s no shortage of cliché advice dedicated to owning your single status. This can end up feeling like pressure to love your solitude—and make you feel guilty if you don’t.

The truth is, “there’s nothing wrong with wanting a romantic relationship, just like there’s nothing wrong with not wanting one,” Jennifer Creson, LMHC, a Seattle-based mental health counselor and owner of Protea Wellness, tells SELF. And ultimately, “judging ourselves for our needs and wants is what hurts us.” Instead, a healthier (and more realistic) approach is to tune into where your desire to be partnered up is coming from. If it’s solely to escape boredom or get validation, then focus on ways to feel connected to others that don’t involve relying on a love interest (more on that below). If it’s stemming from pressure to align with others’ expectations for you, remind yourself that everyone is on their own timeline. (Just because your parents met right out of college doesn’t mean you have to.)

2. Recognize when your family’s values don’t align with your own.

Whether it’s your worried mom or invasive uncle grilling you about your relationship status, know that these comments often say more about them than you. “Families put pressure on us for many reasons, but most are fear-based,” Creson says. “Fear for us, or fear for themselves. But we don’t need to take on our family’s fears and internalize them.”

So the next time a relative tries prying into your love life, try setting boundaries without turning it into a defensive confrontation. You can redirect the conversation to other “successes” unrelated to your relationship status—maybe a big promotion, a new friend group you got closer to, or a travel experience that brought you joy. Not only does this deflection shift the focus away from who you are (or aren’t) dating, but it also reminds everyone (including yourself) that your worth isn’t tied to having a partner.

Millie Bobby Brown: “Being a Mother Expedited This Version of Me”

0

Millie Bobby Brown isn’t Eleven anymore. After ten years of facing monsters, the actor has finally finished her run as the Stranger Things hero. “I know I’ll never play her again,” she says wistfully. But she isn’t really saying goodbye to the character: “[Eleven] has influenced me in huge ways. She is a force to be reckoned with, who gave me a lot of confidence to be a hero within my own life.”

That self-assurance motivated Brown to launch Florence by Mills in 2019. “Naturally, [that role] gives you the confidence to be like, ‘Yeah, I might not know everything about skin care and beauty, but I’m going to build a company at 15.’” Since the start of the Netflix show, Brown, now 21, has also starred in the Enola Holmes and Godzilla films. She got married (to Jake Bongiovi) last year and recently adopted a baby girl. She isn’t even Millie Bobby Brown anymore, if you want to get technical. Legally, she’s Millie Bonnie Bongiovi.

Despite the internet’s resistance to the idea, she’s grown up and firmly in her “most authentic era,” which she attributes to motherhood. “Being a mother expedited this version of me,” she says. “Nothing could get in the way of me being who I need to be for my daughter.”

With the addition to her family, self-care has become even more important in her routine. “I want her to see me take care of myself,” she says, but she doesn’t mean indulgences like lengthy facial massages. “You have to do everything ten times quicker, and you don’t really get to do your gua sha in the morning.” Instead, self-care takes the form of more frequent check-ins with herself and her loved ones.

She journals regularly and she’s careful not to be self-deprecating, conscious of the example she sets for her daughter. “I have to talk to myself kindly,” she says, explaining that it can be easy to “talk badly about yourself and your body” if you’re not being mindful. “After becoming a parent, I couldn’t imagine talking about myself like that anymore, because she’s going to watch me do that.”

Brown also says it can be a reflex to shrink yourself for others, admitting she’s done so before. “Women naturally kind of become smaller so that men feel bigger,” she says, before adding that she can’t see herself doing this anymore for the same reason—her daughter.

5 Easy Travel Hairstyles Using Halo Hair Extensions

0

Nothing kills a vacation faster than a hotel‑bathroom hair marathon. Be honest, how many times have you told your friends, “Just a second!”? This is why seasoned jet‑setters swear by styles that look polished in photos, yet take mere minutes in real life. Their secret? The Halo. A single-weft hair extension that drops on the crown of your head, instantly adding the length and density most “I‑woke‑up‑like‑this” styles actually require. Pop it on, pull a few strategic strands over the wire, and suddenly those mood‑board braids, ponies, and blowouts are doable—whether you’re beach‑hopping in Bali or chasing northern lights in Tromsø.

Below, five looks that transition seamlessly between humid island afternoons and après‑ski dinner dates. Each style calls for minimal tools, packs flat in your carry‑on, and begs to be documented from multiple angles. Ready? Let’s get styling!

1. Accessorized Half Ponytail

This style gives off “Oh, I just put this up,” without really trying too hard. The half-up pony keeps your face framed and fresh, while the flower accessory adds a personal touch—flirty or playful, depending on what you choose.

How to:

  • Slip on your Halo, making sure the wire sits an inch behind your hairline.
  • Use your thumbs to section the top third of your hair (ears up) and secure with a clear elastic.
  • Place a flower clip over the elastic.
  • Gently tug the crown for lift, mist with flexible‑hold spray, and you’re done.

2. Simple Braided Ponytail

Think: polished and practical with a little cool-girl edge. This is the kind of braid that looks equally at home hiking cliffside trails or wandering a Christmas market. The Halo’s volume makes the braid feel thick and luxe, without needing any extra clip-ins. And bonus: it’s a go-to when you want to keep hair neat while still turning heads.

How to:

  • Insert your Halo and brush everything into a mid‑height ponytail.
  • Split the pony into three even sections and weave a classic braid, securing the ends with a small elastic.
  • Tug gently at each loop for an airy, “undone” finish.
  • Wrap a strand of hair (or ribbon) around the base to hide elastics.

3. Messy Ponytail

Undone but intentional, like you woke up late but still nailed it. The messy ponytail is an off-duty staple, and with your Halo in place, it becomes all texture, volume, and movement. Great for hot days, long walking stints, or when your only mirror is a car window. It’s carefree chic, and it wears better the longer the day goes on.

How to:

  • After placing your Halo, spritz lengths with texturizing spray.
  • Gather hair into a high pony, letting face‑framing pieces fall free.
  • Instead of looping hair completely through the final elastic twist, pull it halfway for a carefree “bubble.”
  • Pin rogue strands as needed; imperfection is the point.

4. Claw Clip Updo

The off-duty ballerina look we’re all obsessing over. This style manages to look effortlessly cool and clean, even when you’ve just sprinted through the airport. The Halo makes your twist fuller and softer, while the exposed ends give a breezy, nonchalant finish.

How to:

  • Fit your Halo, then sweep hair into a mid or low ponytail, securing it with mini hair ties or elastics.
  • Twist the tail upward until it coils against your head, leaving ends free to fall out.
  • Clamp everything with an oversized claw clip; let the tail ends fan out for softness.

5. Voluminous Blowout

Big, bouncy, and full of “Where did you get your hair done?” energy. This look gives you salon-level glam with minimal heat and tools. Thanks to your Halo, the ends look thick and plush, not stringy—and your blowout has staying power even after long-haul flights. Just add earrings and a bold lip, and you’re dinner‑ready.

How to:

  • Place The Halo on damp hair, then separate it into four sections.
  • Spritz some heat protectant over your hair, and blow dry it out using a blow dry brush.
  • Let it cool a bit. Then roll each section around a jumbo Velcro roller, securing with metal clips.
  • Once dry, remove rollers, flip hair upside down, and shake.

Pack Your Smart Hair Kit

Toss these minis next to your passport and SPF: The Halo, a blow dry brush, silk ribbon, mini claw clip, texturizing spray, two clear elastics, and a pocket‑sized shine serum. With those items you can recreate all five styles, whatever the forecast or itinerary throws your way. Remember, travel beauty isn’t about perfection—it’s about feeling like the best version of you while living out the story worth posting later. Safe travels, queen!

Face Mask for Wrinkles That Helps: Plump, Smooth, and Firm Skin

0

If you are searching for a face mask for wrinklesyou’re probably not looking for something that just feels nice. You want visible help, even if it is subtle: skin that looks smoother, feels firmer, and has that hydrated “bounce” that makes fine lines look less obvious.

Here’s the truth: no mask erases wrinkles permanently in 20 minutes. But the right face mask can absolutely make wrinkles look softer by doing three things well: hydrating deeply, supporting the barrier, and temporarily plumping the skin so lines don’t read as sharply. And when you use a mask consistently, the improvements start to stack.

1. Why wrinkles look worse when your skin is dehydrated

One of the fastest ways wrinkles become more noticeable is simple dehydration. When the skin is dry, it loses that smooth surface reflection. Fine lines look deeper, texture looks rougher, and makeup can settle into areas you never noticed before.

A great face mask for wrinkles works first by restoring hydration and supporting the skin barrier so that hydration actually stays in the skin.

2. What a face mask for wrinkles should do

When you are choosing a face mask for wrinkleslook for results you can realistically feel and see:

  • Plumping: skin looks fuller so lines look softer.
  • Smoothing: rough texture calms down and looks more refined.
  • Firming: skin feels tighter and more “held” after rinsing or removing.
  • Glow: healthy, hydrated skin always reads younger.

Anything that stings, burns, or leaves you red for hours is not helping wrinkles. It is stressing the skin and usually makes lines look worse short term.

3. How to use a face mask for wrinkles for best results

Most people underuse masks, then expect miracles. If you want your face mask for wrinkles to actually help:

  • Use it consistently: 2 to 3 times a week beats once a month.
  • Mask on clean skin: always apply after cleansing so ingredients can absorb properly.
  • Do not over-exfoliate before: skip strong acids right before masking if you are prone to dryness or sensitivity.
  • Seal it in afterward: apply a moisturizer after masking to lock in the benefits.

Pro tip: If your lines look worse by afternoon, mask at night. You wake up with the smoother look instead of trying to maintain it through a full day of dehydration and stress.

4. Two face masks that help wrinkles in different ways

If you want a mask that’s specifically designed for anti-aging support and a more lifted, glowy look, the Forever Glow Anti-Aging Face Mask is a strong option to keep in rotation.

If your wrinkles are showing up alongside tired, stressed-looking skin and you want something that feels like a recovery reset, the Twilight Face Mask is a great choice for that “wake up looking better” effect.

5. When to expect results

A good face mask for wrinkles can give you a visible difference after one use, usually in the form of plumper, smoother skin. But the real benefit comes from repetition.

  • After 1 use: skin looks more hydrated, fine lines look softer.
  • After 2 to 4 weeks: texture looks smoother, makeup sits better, skin looks more even.
  • With ongoing use: skin holds hydration better, and lines look less sharp day to day.

If you are not seeing improvement, it is usually because your cleanser is too harsh, you are overusing actives, or you are not sealing hydration in with a moisturizer after masking.

Final thoughts

The best face mask for wrinkles is the one that improves hydration, supports the barrier, and makes your skin look smoother and more rested without irritation. Use it consistently, keep your routine calm, and you will see the “small changes” add up into a noticeably better look.

Can You Get Addicted to a GLP-1?

0

About one in eight American adults say they’ve used a GLP-1 receptor agonist medication like Ozempic or Wegovy at some point, making this a very popular drug class. While these drugs can be used to treat type 2 diabetes, they’ve really taken off for their weight loss potential—this probably isn’t news to you.

But there seems to be a wave of people who struggle to stop using these medications once they start. Model and reality star Brooks Nader has spoken openly about what she calls her “addiction” to using GLP-1s. In a September 2025 episode of her show, Love Thy Naderthe 28-year-old’s sisters stage an intervention over her use of GLP-1 medication and eating habits after they found her nearly unconscious in the bathtub. (Her sisters shared at the time that Nader was mostly consuming bone broth.)

“The thing that I was so shocked about with the show was that I had so many people reach out to me saying, ‘I’m also addicted to GLP-1. I’m ashamed to talk about it because there’s such a stigma around it. It’s a crutch for me,’” Nader later told Bustle. But she also told the magazine that she’s still taking the medication, adding, “it’s a crutch for me too. It’s not healthy. I should get off it; I’ll be honest about that.”

Nader recently told Us Weekly that she’s heard from many people who have had the similar experiences. “I’ve had moms come up to me, I’ve had girls in college come up to me and have similar struggles,” she said. “And I’m hoping that through using my voice, we can all band together and find a solution.”

Weight loss is a complicated topic that often has deep emotional undercurrents, making it understandable that some people may feel dependent on these medications after reaching their goal weight, Thea Gallagher, PsyD, clinical associate professor at NYU Langone Health and cohost of the Mind in View podcast, tells SELF. Here’s why medical professionals say people may feel hooked on these drugs, plus what a physician who prescribes these medications recommends doing once you hit your goal weight.

People don’t get addicted to these medications, but they can become emotionally reliant on them.

This is a slightly complicated thing to explain, so bear with us for a moment here. An addiction can be physiological, which means it alters your body in a way that attempting to stop or cut down can cause a physical withdrawal, Gail Saltz, MD, associate professor of psychiatry at the NY Presbyterian Hospital Weill-Cornell School of Medicine, tells SELF. “These are drugs with addiction potential such as heroin, cocaine, opioids, alcohol, even nicotine,” she says.” The sudden removal of the drug causes physical withdrawal.”

The Origins of Red Lipstick in The History of Makeup – Besame Cosmetics

0

Sometimes it feels like red lipstick is timeless, with no beginning or ending. You might be surprised to find out that is almost true. Red lipstick dates back farther than most people can even imagine.

The story begins over 5,000 years ago

The first known red lipsticks were made by crushing gemstones and wearing them on the lips in Mesopotamia over 5,000 years ago. Later, lipsticks would be made from red algae and fish scales. The first molded lipsticks resembling what we use today were invented by Abu Al-Qasim Al-Zahrawi during the Islamic Golden Age.

It is truly amazing and almost impossible to believe that the makeup we wear today is based on traditions from thousands of years ago. Over these millennia, the available shades of lipstick to choose from have expanded to a seemingly infinite number — and there are just as many shades of red alone to choose from.

The legacy of the color red

Red has many cultural connotations that have made it a popular (and sometimes controversial) color over the years. But, no matter the decade, red lipstick has stood the test of time, becoming truly iconic.

And from the beginning of red lipstick, the one common thread among every shade of red is that red makes a bold statement for whoever chooses to wear it — for people of all ages, all classes, and all cultures across the globe.

While stained lips were signs of aristocracy in places like Egypt, other countries around the world saw it as the sign of the prostitute. In Greece, prostitutes were expected to use lip colors and obvious makeup in public or else they would be punished because it implied that they were deceitfully posing as ladies.

This association would continue into England in the 1700s, where in 1770 a law ruled a marriage could be annulled if a woman wore lipstick before her wedding day. Lipstick continued to be associated with prostitutes and even actors, regardless of the fact that Queen Elizabeth I was known for wearing bright red lips with a powdered white complexion.

By the 1920s it was finally accepted and fashionable for a Londoner to wear her lipstick, almost 40 years after its commercial debut by Guerlain.

Dark Red was the color of choice in the 1920s. Women wore red as a symbol of their newfound independence. Actress Clara Bow inspired the “cupid’s bow” worn at the time. Women had the freedom to now apply their lipstick in public.

Marilyn Monroe Wearing a Red Dress and Red Lipstick

Red lipstick today

Today, red lipstick is synonymous with fashion, glamour, beauty, sexuality, rebellion, winter, luxury, wealth… and so much more. The list is nearly as endless as the shades.

The legacy of red lipstick continues to influence fashion and cosmetics today, with limitless possibilities and potential for color combinations and bold statements.

From classic reds inspired by the courageous women we think of when we think of the beginning of modern makeup trends to the dark and sultry tones of later decades, there are limitless options to choose from.

But, beyond the power of choice is the power of expression. Every era of red lipstick — whether it was lauded or shunned by society at the time — brought us closer to the freedom of expression we enjoy today and built a historic legacy for something as simple as adding color to your lips.

Over the years, red lipstick has given icons like Marilyn Monroe her distinctive look or added beauty and elegance to beloved characters such as the extensive ensemble of Disney princesses. Everywhere we look, shades of red lipstick have added color, courage, and charisma to the global stage — from fashion magazines to the silver screen.

So, next time you carefully apply your favorite shade of red to your lips as you head out for a glamorous night on the town, feel empowered by the fact that you are participating in a powerful story that began thousands of years ago… and will continue for thousands of years to come.

And if you are not sure what’s the perfect red lipstick shade for you, try Gabriela’s shadefinder and you might be surprised at how something as simple as lipstick can change the way you feel.

What Foundation Is Best for Dry Skin?

0

This is the coldest time of the year so many of us are experiencing typical winter skin issues such as dryness, dehydration, redness and itching.  This isn’t surprising with heaters and radiators drying everything out and extra coffee-drinking to feel warm.  It’s no wonder why our skin is often in full crisis mode by February.  To make matters worse, the winter skin only makes us look older as our skin becomes more textural and our color becomes blotchier.

Our immediate instinct is to wear makeup to even out the skin but some people may be reluctant to apply foundation with concerns of further irritation.  We can’t blame them for thinking that way.  There are a lot of foundations out there that don’t perform very well in cold weather.  Well, you’ll be pleased to know that, at jane iredalewe have some excellent winter skin foundations that you’ll be delighted with.

foundation for dry skin

What Foundation Is Best for Dry Skin?

At the top of our list is HydroPure Tinted Serum with Hyaluronic Acid and CoQ10.  If there was ever a foundation made to repair dehydrated winter skin, this is it.  We don’t have to tell you the first two key ingredients as they’re in the name but let’s talk about what they do.

  • Hyaluronic Acid has an extraordinary ability to help skin hold on to water. As a matter of fact, it enables the epidermis to retain about 1000 times its weight in water.  This is excellent news for our dry and dehydrated friends.

  • The next ingredient, CoQ10, addresses the free radical damage. CoQ10 is a powerful tool for collagen and elastin support so, if you’re concerned with unwanted texture, it will definitely help.
  • There’s also Allantoin which helps tone down redness and irritation.

HydroPure can be worn as a primer under any of our powders or over one of our Smooth Affair Primers for extra glow and smoothness.  You’ll love the way it melts into skin and creates a dewy finish that lasts all day long.   Learn more about how to use HydroPure Tinted Serum.

Keep in mind that there’s no sun protection in HydroPure so we typically combine it with an SPF product for optimal results.

The next solution we’re featuring for winter skin may surprise you because it’s actually a system that contains a powder.  There’s a misconception that all powders will dry the skin but not this one!

PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation is a powder foundation that covers like a liquid, has no drying agents and features a skin-soothing formula packed with minerals and antioxidants.  Our best recommendation is to use it in The Skincare Makeup System which consists of Smooth Affair Brightening Face Primer, PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation and POMMISST Hydration Spray.

  • Smooth Affair Brightening Face Primer will give you a layer of hydration, create a hydrated finish and smooth out the texture of your skin.
  • PurePressed Base will soothe and calm your skin while providing a broad-spectrum SPF. It contains Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide which are soothing and calming to even the driest skin.  Learn more in this guide to PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation.
  • POMMISST Hydration Spray will set the makeup for a long-lasting finish and give you even more hydration. Pomegranate is a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin against environmental damage and works hand in hand with your SPF.

Skin Care Routine for Dry Skin

Along with the using the best possible skin hydration products and following a hydrating makeup routine for winter, there are also a few daily practices that will optimize your skincare and makeup regimen.

  • When doing your morning and evening skincare, never let your face get completely dry. Apply treatment serums while skin is still damp from cleansing, apply moisturizer while skin is still damp from treatment and apply primer while your skin is still damp from moisturizer.  Building your complexion on top of a layer of moisture helps keep skin more hydrated all day.
  • Always use a Hydration Spray. After makeup application, spritz with POMMISST, Calming Lavender or D20 Hydration Spray for added moisture.  Take your Hydration Spray with you and use it throughout the day.
  • Add an Omega to your daily supplement regimen. Omegas help your skin cells to hold water more effectively and they tone down redness in the complexion.  Our Skin Omegas from Advanced Nutrition Programme, combine Omega 3 for dryness and texture with Omega 6 for inflammation and redness.  We recommend two a day.  You’ll see the results within a few weeks of starting them.
  • Be mindful of sugar and caffeine intake. Sugar and caffeine are two of the most inflammatory and drying substances you can put into your body.  Try to limit your coffee intake to one cup per day and replace refined sugar snacks with fruit or healthier options.  You’ll thank yourself later.

Wearing the right foundation in winter shouldn’t be a challenge and we like to pride ourselves on giving healthier options than traditional makeup has to offer.  Remember that jane iredale formulas are made without the top sensitizers that are in traditional makeup.  This includes talc, mineral oil, parabens, phthalates, synthetic perfumes and chemical SPF.  What’s left behind is high performance skincare makeup that looks as good as it feels.

If you’re not sure which foundation or combination to choose, remember that we’re here to help.  Take our Foundation Finder Quiz to find your best shade and formula.  We look forward to hearing from you!
