LAMAV Garshana Dry Body Brush

There’s no excuse for skipping self-care when you’re gifted our Garshana Dry Body Brush. Exfoliate, improve circulation and implement daily wellness in just 5 minutes per day. Brush the gentle bristles towards your heart for a head to toe glow prior to showering.

Double Cleansing Duo

If there’s one skincare step we like to preach here at LAMAV, it’s double cleansing. Regardless of your age, gender or skin type, there are many benefits that come from a 60 second double cleanse. The first oil cleanse gently but effectively melts away makeup, spf and excess oil to prep your skin for a thorough second cleanse. The second cleanse now has a chance to actually “clean” your skin and allows the active ingredients to do their job. This also plays an important part in how effectively your leave on products absorb post cleanse (think serums and moisturisers)

LAMAV’s Double Cleansing Duo Pack for Oily/Combination Skin Contains:

Marula Oil Cleanser

A purifying blend of natural oils, bursting with antioxidants to enhance skin repair and restore moisture while cleansing to dissolve makeup and impurities. Hello clean, glowing skin!

Sweet Orange Balancing Cleanser

Our Award Winning cleansing gel is loved by all skin types, but specifically formulated to deeply clean and balance oily skin. The inclusion of Papaya Extract, Desert Lime and Mountain Pepper Leaf assists with hormonal acne and breakouts while Lactic Acid and Fruit Acids (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) effectively remove excess sebum, make-up and impurities for a fresh and luminous appearance.

Easter Gifts for Him

LAMAV Supersize Sweet Orange Balancing Cleanser

Introduce skincare to the man in your life with our Sweet Orange Balancing Cleanser and gift clean, balanced skin. This purifying, deep cleansing gel was formulated to deeply clean and balance oily and combination skin, which is one of the most common skin types in men. Containing Naturally Derived AHA’s to break down dead skin and sebum, your man will be thanking you for his fresh complexion.

5 Top K-Beauty Trends of 2026, According to an Expert

0

In 2013, my husband Dave and I hauled a beat-up, fire-engine-red suitcase overflowing with sheet masks, toners, snail creams, and pimple patches to the Hester Street Fair, a weekend market in the Lower East Side. We were among the lucky vendors who snagged a table for a few hundred bucks and proudly set up our K-beauty products on a humble folding table draped with a cloth. Behind us, we hung a DIY sign with bold black pre-cut letters that read, “Soko Glam: The Korean Beauty Revolution is Here.” That afternoon, I sheepishly discovered no one knew what a sheet mask was.

Fast forward to 2025, and Korean skin care is piping hot. Like, multibillion-dollar-globally-dominating hot, to the point where Korean beauty exports to the U.S. have surpassed French cosmetics for the first time ever. You know that things have shifted when you scroll on TikTok and you see Cardi B shamelessly hawking her fourth set of Korean beauty products this month.

Korean beauty isn’t a moment; it’s a movement. As the cofounder of Soko Glam, I’ve seen how K-beauty can reshape global skin care, from sunscreen that you actually want to put on to the most skin-glistening toners that can be layered endlessly. And the reason is plain and simple: innovation. Today I’m here less as your oracle and more of your insider K-beauty expert to break down the biggest innovations of the past year—and share what will be worth your attention and hard-earned dollars in 2026.

All in on PDRN

PDRN—otherwise known as polydeoxyribonucleotide—has had a big moment on social media as a salmon DNA injection, and we saw that transform into “med-to-cosmetics” innovation via plant-based alternatives in serums and creams. I do believe PDRN will be omnipresent in 2026 and officially in every Korean skin-care lineup, but I would be wary of trusting every single PDRN potion that comes your way, as some brands are simply riding the hype without the science.

Iope

PDRN Caffeine Shot Serum

My pick: My first true PDRN love was Iope’s Caffeine Shot Serum, and it’s honestly still one of my favorite plumping serums. The brand uses a meaningful concentration of PDRN extract and caffeine to improve elasticity and smoothness, and give my skin that much-needed bounce. I trust Iope’s because it was one of the first to market, and most importantly, backed by tons of clinical studies to prove its claims (which I’ve personally seen).

Korean Sunscreens (FDA’s Version)

In 2025, every TikToker officially freaked out once they heard of the FDA ban of Korean sunscreens due to filters that are not US-approved. Suddenly, your favorite Korean sunscreens were sold out, and to get your hands on them, you had to test questionable foreign sites with long shipping and delivery times. Korean brands scrambled to get their sunscreens U.S. FDA-approved, and turns out, it’s completely fine! So many brands have now reformulated their faves, and the new sun sticks and sunscreens are just as easy to apply, have no white cast, and are once again in heavy rotation. Thank God for Korea’s penchant for innovation. Now, let’s just pray that tariffs are banished next.

Abib Airy Sunstick Smoothing Bar SPF 50+ in branded component on a light gray background

Abib

Airy Sunstick Smoothing Bar SPF 50+

My pick: Abib Airy Sunstick Smoothing Bar is amazingly clear and glides on like a cloud. There’s no greasy film, and it’s so easy to reapply again and again. The shape also makes it easy to apply to tricky areas like around the nose or under the eyes.

A bottle of Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing UV Lock Sunscreen SPF 45

Round Lab

Birch Juice Moisturizing UVLOCK SPF 45 Broad Spectrum

My pick: Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing UV Lock SPF 45 feels cooling on application and gives me a hydrated but not shiny finish. It’s affordable, doesn’t pill, and the sharp price point makes me reach for it time and time again!

Upkeep at Home: In-Office-Inspired Facial Devices

Medicube dominated 2026 and minted one of Korea’s youngest billionaires, thanks to its viral Medicube Booster Pro series. Everyone and their mom has asked me if the device is worth it. And my answer? YES. But buy it on sale, as they’re almost always offering discounts from the retail price. Now everyone from LG Beauty and Shark is zeroing in on the facial device game, and I say, bring it on! This means better prices and better tech for all of us.

Medicube Age-R Booster Pro in branded component on a light gray background

My pick: Medicube Booster Pro delivers the most noticeable lift and improved firmness I’ve seen—with consistent use (weekly in my case), of course. My skin looks more juicy overall, and I love how I can pair it with my favorite serums (like the Iope PDRN Caffeine Shot Serum). If you’re going to invest in one device in 2026, this is the one.

The (Overdue) Rise of Korean Makeup

Wander around Seungsu, the Brooklyn of Seoul, and you’ll notice crowds pouring out of color cosmetics stores. 2026 wasn’t just about Korean skin care; it was the year Korean makeup had its global breakout. With all the hype of so many Korean makeup brands, which one do I think stands above the rest?

Rom&nd Glasting Color Gloss in branded component on a light gray background

Rom&nd

Glasting Color Gloss

My pick: Romn&d has a clear shot of being one of the biggest K-makeup giants. Once you try the Korean lippies from Rom&nd, you’ll experience what it feels like to have glass lips. My favorite is the Glasting Color Gloss, which has a reflective shine, a weightless feel, and long-lasting color that flatters everyone and makes everyone an evangelist for the line. Everyone I speak to, whether you are Gen A to Gen X, all agree Rom&nd is their favorite find of 2026.

The Intrigue of Exosomes

Korea was once known as the gentle, hydrating approach to skin care, but those days are changing. Exosomes have officially entered the chat through microscopic vesicles to help boost collagen and improve texture. The process can cause irritation, so much so that Korean brands actively market the experience to be so painful and want you to intentionally pick formulas based on your pain tolerance level. Among Korean dermatologists, exosomes are discussed less as a miracle ingredient and more as a tool for inflammation recovery, post-procedure healing, and texture refinement. As this is a new innovation, the verdict is still out. However, you can bet there will be more options in 2026 cropping up due to consumer intrigue.

[Editor’s note: The U.S.-based derms we spoke to in our reporting on exosomes—and their various formulations, whether they’re derived from humans, animals, or plants—all agree that there is limited research to back any exosome-related claims, positive or negative.]

What Is ‘Menopause Massage’ And Why Are We Not All Doing This?

0

For years, the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause have been seen as things that women simply must endure. The hormonal shift is inevitable, and so are the crummy downsides, like hot flashes, insomnia, low sex drive, and more. Luckily, that attitude is slowly beginning to change. Expert consensus on warnings around hormone therapy (HT) have shifted to catch up with modern scientific findings, more practitioners are updating their approach, and more women are speaking openly about their symptoms and experiences. The result is a growing sense of empowerment: Women are asking better questions, pushing for appropriate care, and exploring treatments they may not have realized were options.

While I personally started HT a year ago, I’ve still been on the lookout for complementary therapies that can support my health now that I’m in my 50s. Massage has long been one of the most reliable ways I manage stress and feel better in my body. So as perimenopause symptoms such as bloating and sleep troubles crept in, I started to wonder whether something that had consistently helped me in the past might also offer relief here.

While there have been a few small studies that suggest massage can be effective in reducing menopausal symptoms (like insomnia and anxiety and depression), it’s still not widely researched or “prescribed.” But maybe it should be.

What is menopause massage?

Menopause massage is essentially an iteration of a relaxation massage during which massage therapists employ techniques meant to ease the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. It’s meant to help women find comfort and relaxation during this major transitional life stage.

Nancy Perez, BSc, LMT, E-RYT, is a licensed massage therapist who lists “the treatment of musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause” as an offering on her website. Perez tells SELF that she tailors each treatment by using a combination of Swedish massage, aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage, craniosacral therapy, myofascial release massage therapy, and even temporomandibular work in the jaw/neck region.

“These particular treatments target specific symptoms of this phase, including lack of sleep, nervous system deregulation, tension headaches, and poor digestion,” Perez explains. For example, craniosacral therapy uses gentle touch on specific areas of the head, torso, knees, and feet to improve the functioning of the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord), with the goal of supporting better sleep and reducing stress-related tension during perimenopause and menopause.

How can massage improve menopause symptoms?

While scientific research on many of these therapies (and how they may benefit women in menopause, in particular) is still limited, many of the improvements in symptoms may come down to a universal truth about massages: They’re relaxing.

Lumebox

Lumebox is the name of the leading portable Red Light Therapy device that provides both red and near infrared light. Lumebox is registered with the FDA as a Class II medical device, meaning it meets regulatory standards for safety and performance.

Lumebox doesn’t claim to treat any disease condition, its focus is on supporting skin rejuvenation, improving blood flow, and temporary pain relief.

Lumebox is:

  • Independently tested
  • Has a long battery life
  • Low EMF
  • Safety tested and certified
  • 80% more irradiance than leading brand

Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, provides therapeutic results by penetrating the skin at a cellular level with red and near-infrared light. This helps optimize cellular function and blood flow.

Red light is essentially causing a biochemical effect in the cells, which causes them to make more energy. More energy means the ability to repair and rejuvenate which translates to looking better on the outside and feeling better on the outside.

Red light therapy is backed by 2000+ industry-wide studies. According to Stanford Medicine, “the effects of red light on biology date back to the 1960s, when a Hungarian scientist was investigating whether exposure to low levels would cause mice to develop skin cancer.” What was discovered was not skin cancer, but hair growth. This is what spawned studies on red light therapy and hair growth in humans.

While red light therapy has demonstrated positive benefits in a variety of areas, some of the strongest evidence points to hair regeneration and wrinkle reduction. Vasodilation or dilated blood vessels increase nutrient flow to different areas of the body including hair follicles and the skin.

Some studies suggest that red light therapy can help with temporary pain relief with the emphasis on “temporary.” Most chronic pain came back when red light therapy was stopped, however, I believe there are exceptions to every study!

Red light therapy also supports good moods and can keep seasonal affective disorders at bay during the winter months.

The Lumebox has been such a great addition to my daily routine!

Lumebox Details

The Lumebox 2.0 delivers Red (660nm) and Near Infrared (850nm) wavelengths simultaneously from each bulb for maximum benefit. It has a portable design allowing it to easily be used on the go and has optional 6 and 12 minute timers.

Plus, it has been found to be more powerful and it’s 25% bigger than other portable devices, which means it can treat larger areas.

It comes with a carrying case, battery, A/C adapter, removable comfort-grip accessory and even protective eyewear. It is important to wear eye protection when using this device or any LED device.

Unlike tanning beds, red light therapy devices are safe and gentle on the skin.

The Lumebox can benefit almost everyone with a few exceptions:

  • Those who are photosensitive.
  • Those taking topical, oral, or injectable steroids.
  • Those who have just had LASIK eye surgery.
  • Those who are pregnant or lactating

To see the best results, consistency is key. Here is a dosing guide according to Lumebox:

For skin: RED mode (6 min at 6 inches, 22 mW/cm²) → Dose: 7.92 J/cm²

For joints: NIR mode (12 min at 1 cm, 140 mW/cm²) → Dose: 100.8 J/cm²

For red light therapy newbies, Lumebox recommends starting out at 2-3 minutes a few times a week, and gradually increasing as your body adapts.

Lumebox has a robust blog that is a great resource for all things Red Light Therapy and how to effectively use their device.

The Lumebox retails for $629.00 but if you use my link you will save $260 per unit!

How I Use My Lumebox

I use the Lumebox to help target specific areas of treatment like my thyroid gland, a scar, or a sore muscle. It has been great at helping target my thyroid specifically or providing quick relief from a paper cut or other flesh wounds.

I also use it when someone in my family gets sick, I find that it speeds up recovery time.

I take the Lumebox with me when I travel as well, because it’s kind of a jack of all trades in the wellness department.

While I’ve tried a lot of different bio-hacking devices that don’t live up to the hype, the Lumebox is different. It actually works.

Make sure to go back and check out our other giveaways that are still open (you can enter daily!):

Oprah Winfrey Opens Up About a Surprising GLP-1 Side Effect

0

Oprah Winfrey’s weight-loss journey with GLP-1 medications has made headlines before. In 2023, she joined a wave of celebrities using the drugs for weight management. At the time, the announcement was met with pushback, but a recent revelation about her relationship with alcohol is being received far more positively.

In an exclusive interview with People, Winfrey revealed that the medication is not only curbing her appetite, but also her desire for alcohol. “I was a big fan of tequila,” she says, noting that at one point she could outdrink everyone at the table and once indulged in 17 shots in a single night. Her outlook is different now, however, thanks to GLP-1 medication. “I haven’t had a drink in years. The fact that I no longer even have a desire for it is pretty amazing,” she said.

Over the years, Winfrey has been candid about her struggles with weight loss and gain—an openness that has resonated deeply with many. Sharing her current experience with GLP-1 medications in her new book, co-written with obesity expert Dr. Ania M. Jastreboff, continues that long-standing commitment to transparency.

During the interview, Winfrey shared intimate details, including how often she takes her injections, the side effects she experiences and how she manages them with a healthy diet and vitamins. She also revealed that after stopping the injections following a year of use, she realized that taking a GLP-1 needed to be a long-term commitment.

For Winfrey, the medication has become “a tool to help you manage the messages that are being sent to your brain about overeating.” It has also served as a catalyst for broader lifestyle changes, including cutting back on alcohol and committing to a regular exercise routine. “I thought it was about discipline and willpower. But I stopped blaming myself, (and) I feel more alive and more vibrant than I’ve ever been,” she says.

Winfrey’s weight has been the subject of tabloid scrutiny for much of her career. Now, the talk show icon and media mogul says she’s reclaiming the narrative. “Whatever was happening needed to happen to get me to this point. And I rejoice at feeling liberated from the struggle—because I had a real public struggle. And I am healthier now.”

How to Get a Full-Body Workout With Weight Machines at the Gym

0

There’s a lot of debate about weight machines in the fitness world. Some people gravitate towards them because they seem a heck of a lot easier than cranking out some reps with a pair of dumbbells or a barbell. Others (especially some trainers) say that they’re not the best exercise tool for everyone, since they tend to work muscles in isolation, rather than with the kinds of compound, total-body movements you can do with free weights.

In fact, trainers generally agree that a well-rounded strength training program shouldn’t rely solely on machines. But that doesn’t mean there is no place in your lifting routine for this type of equipment. In some cases, weight machines—which guide you through exercises and come with adjustable levels of resistance to make it harder or easier—can be a good choice, and actually a safer bet than slinging around heavy hunks of metal without knowing (or feeling familiar with) the correct form or range of motion of a given exercise.

Wondering if weight machines are right for you? Here’s everything you need to know—plus, how to get in a full-body workout with them, if that’s what you’re after.

How weight machines can help new lifters

If you’re new to the gym and not able to work one-on-one with a trainer, machines can be easier to learn on your own, Chris Gagliardi, CSCS, certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, tells SELF. “The machine only moves in one direction, so it’s hard to do it wrong.” This limited motion can be especially helpful for anyone who hasn’t developed much core strength or muscle coordination yet. “Free weights require more stability and mobility, and coordination and balance,” says Gagliardi.

Machines can also help to “reduce the amount of stress on certain joints during exercise,” Joel Okaah, CSCS, tells SELF. “This can also be beneficial from a safety standpoint when someone is first learning how to train under load.” The little assist you get from a machine that moves in a specific way can be a guardrail, of sorts, to keep your form in check and keep you from putting too much pressure on the wrong body part.

At a big-box gym, there are usually also photo instructions attached to the machine, “so you can look at it and figure out what you’re supposed to do,” Gagliardi says. These pictures can also help you adjust the seats, pads, or height properly. Then all you have to do is choose the right weight (you can always start conservatively, and then up the weight if it’s way too easy) and get started.

Winter Haircare Tips – OLAPLEX Inc.

0

Key Takeaways

  • Winter weather can leave hair dry, brittle, and prone to breakage, so adding moisture and protection is essential for maintaining healthy strands.
  • OLAPLEX® treatments like Nº.0, Nº.3, and Bond Maintenance® products help rebuild and hydrate hair while protecting it from cold-weather stress.
  • Weekly masks, protective serums like Nº.9, and scalp care treatments such as Nº.0.5 Scalp Longevity Treatment can restore hydration, reduce frizz, and soothe dryness all season long.

Jump to

An often-overlooked time of year for haircare, cold weather is incredibly harsh on hair. Summer is known for the beating sunlight that fades and scorches the hair. On the opposite side of the coin, winter weather causes hair that is devoid of moisture, creating an incredibly dry climate that leads to damaged hair. Drastic temperature changes can also cause trauma to the hair, like hot, steamy showers during the cold winter or even strong winds tangling and drying out the hair, leading to breakage. These environmental stressors don’t include heat styling, mechanical styling, and chemical damage done during this season, either.

Lack of moisture is the true winter hair blues culprit, and while many think this just means dry hair, it really is a domino effect. When hair is dry, it’s rough and crunchy, but it eventually evolves into breakage when unaddressed. When it comes to moisture, the OLAPLEX line is packed with products that both rebuild broken hair and moisturize. OLAPLEX is perfect for all hair textures, whether you’re looking for curly or straight winter haircare routine. Use these winter haircare tips to address common cold-weather woes.

For Winter Hair Breakage and Damage Use OLAPLEX Nº.0 and OLAPLEX Nº.3 Hair Perfector®

Dry winter air can make hair more brittle and prone to breakage and split ends. To prevent winter hair damage and breakage, look for treatments that prioritize strengthening and bond-building technology. Start off by applying Nº.0 onto the hair as a primer until damp, then comb through to ensure coverage. Leave on for ten minutes, then apply Nº.3 directly on top, combing through to fully saturate. Leave it on for ten minutes, then shampoo with Nº.4 Bond Maintenance® Shampoo, which nourishes, moisturizes, and repairs hair. Pair it with Nº.5 Bond Maintenance® Conditioner to strengthen, repair, and hydrate your hair. Once a week, in place of conditioner, try the Rich Hydration Mask if you have medium to thick hair.

Those with fine hair should use a shampoo that will volumize while strengthening it, like Nº.4FINE Bond Maintenance® Shampoo. Follow with Nº.5FINE Bond Maintenance® Conditioner, which weightlessly hydrates and nourishes hair while building lasting volume, body, and bounce. Use the Weightless Nourishing Mask for fine to medium hair once a week instead of Nº.5FINE to reduce and prevent breakage.

The right leave-in and styling products can help mitigate breakage and damage. Try Nº.5 LEAVE-IN™ Moisturize and Mend Leave-In Conditioner to moisturize, seal split ends, and protect hair. Once you apply the leave-in conditioner to the ends of the hair, follow with a weightless styling hair oil like OLAPLEX Nº.7 Bonding Oil™ to strengthen and prevent breakage.

For Dry and Dehydrated Cold Weather Hair Use Weightless Nourishing Mask or Rich Hydration Mask

Yes, your hair is thirsty. This is the time of year everyone’s hair gets a little rough around the edges. That’s because cold outdoor air plus dry indoor heating can strip your hair of moisture. Use a mask once a week in place of conditioner for extra hydration, like the Weightless Nourishing Mask or the Rich Hydration Mask. If you have fine to medium hair, cleanse your hair with Nº.4FINE Bond Maintenance® Shampoo, leave the Weightless Nourishing Mask on for 3-5 minutes, then rinse well. Don’t forget to use Nº.5FINE Bond Maintenance® Conditioner on days when you’re not using the Weightless Nourishing Mask.

Those with medium to coarse hair can wash their hair with Nº.4 and Nº.5. On days when you don’t use the Nº.5 Bond Maintenance® Conditioner, apply the Rich Hydration Mask, and leave it on for 3-5 minutes. Don’t forget to rinse well. Still not sure which hair mask is right for you? Take the Mask Quiz today!

Don’t forget to use moisturizing leave-in products for dry winter hair. A hydrating styling cream like Nº.6 Bond Smoother® will become your go-to to soften and hydrate hair. Pair it with OLAPLEX Nº.7 for soft, healthy-looking hair.

For Dull Winter Hair Use OLAPLEX Nº.7 Bonding Oil™ and Nº.9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum

All hair types are prone to dullness in the winter. If you have lighter-colored hair, you might notice dullness a bit more, but don’t worry—there are easy ways to bring back its shine! In cold weather, low moisture within the strands reduces natural oils and can make your hair lose luster. Cleanse with a shampoo like Nº.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo® to nourish hair, leaving it smoother and shinier. Follow with Nº.5 Bond Maintenance® Conditioner to boost shine. If you have fine hair, Nº.4FINE and Nº.5FINE will detangle and smooth hair while building lasting volume, body, and bounce.

Say goodbye to dull winter hair with the right styling products. Add the Nº.9 styling serum to your winter haircare routine for a satin shine that protects color. Apply to damp hair right before styling to protect the hair from environmental damage and heat up to 450ºF. Pair it with OLAPLEX Nº.7 to boost shine and color vibrancy.

Prevent Winter Frizz and Static Use Nº.6 Bond Smoother® and OLAPLEX Nº.7 Bonding Oil™

Static and flyaways are common winter hair concerns. The lack of humidity, combined with more frequent wear of hats and scarves, makes your strands more susceptible to static and frizz. Add our favorite styling combination to your winter haircare routine: OLAPLEX Nº.6 and OLAPLEX Nº.7. Together, these products repair the hair internally while moisturizing, smoothing, adding shine, and protecting from heat up to 450ºF. Keep this hair oil handy in your bag for touch-ups throughout the day. A couple of dabs of oil through your hair will keep it silky and repaired in between treatments. OLAPLEX Nº.7 Bonding Oil™ also controls frizz and flyaways for sleek, healthy-looking winter hairstyles.

Curly-haired folks know windy weather can make hair extra frizzy. Not with OLAPLEX Nº.6 Bond Smoother, however. Nº.6 reduces frizz for up to 72 hours, making it your not-so-secret defense against frizz.

To Manage a Dry Scalp Use Nº.0.5 Scalp Longevity Treatment

Winter conditions like low humidity and dry winds can contribute to a dry, itchy scalp. To hydrate and soothe your scalp, try OLAPLEX Nº.0.5 Scalp Longevity Treatment. This scalp treatment promotes soft, shiny, visibly healthy hair while strengthening and protecting the scalp barrier and microbiome.

Start with Nº.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo® in the shower. This shampoo gently cleanses without stripping or drying to keep your hair and scalp hydrated. Finish with Nº.5 Bond Maintenance® Conditioner to condition and moisturize your ends, or for deep hydration, try a hair mask like the Rich Hydration Mask or Weightless Nourishing Mask. Use Nº.05 directly on your scalp before styling wet hair or as an overnight treatment on dry hair. For best results, use it three times a week. For a boost of shine and softness on dull winter days, apply OLAPLEX Nº.7 Bonding Oil™ to the ends of damp or dry hair.

For Loss of Volume Use Nº.4FINE Bond Maintenance® Shampoo and Nº.5FINE Bond Maintenance® Conditioner

In the winter, fine hair is prone to volume loss. Heavy conditioners or even outerwear can weigh down your hair. Use an ultra-light shampoo that volumizes and strengthens fine hair like Nº.4FINE Bond Maintenance® Shampoo. Don’t forget to use it with Nº.5FINE Bond Maintenance® Conditioner, which weightlessly hydrates, nourishes, and helps build lasting volume, body, and bounce.

If you have medium or coarse hair that needs a volume boost, Nº.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo® will gently cleanse, nourish, and detangle strands. Follow with Nº.5 Bond Maintenance® Conditioner, which nourishes and makes hair more manageable with every wash.

Using the right hair mask can also help add volume to your hair in the winter. The Weightless Nourishing Mask was formulated specifically for fine to medium hair and provides instant volume that lasts all day. Just use it in place of your conditioner once per week for lightweight hydration that lasts through 5 washes.*

Your Glow Depends on This One Thing – 100% PURE

0

Introduction

Glow is often treated as something you add to the skin. A brightening serum. A smoothing mask. A better moisturizer. But the truth is, glow is not created by any single product. It is a reflection of how healthy your skin is beneath the surface.

At the center of that health is the skin barrier. This invisible layer plays a critical role in how skin looks, feels, and responds day to day, yet it is one of the most overlooked aspects of skincare. When the barrier is strong, skin feels comfortable, stays hydrated longer, and maintains a smooth, even appearance. When it is compromised, even the best products can fall short.

Many common skin concerns trace back to barrier health. Persistent dryness, sensitivity, uneven texture, and unpredictable reactions are often signs that the barrier needs support. Rather than chasing glow through stronger treatments, understanding and strengthening the skin barrier creates the conditions for radiance to return naturally.

Barrier health is not a trend or an extra step. It is the foundation every effective routine is built on.

What the Skin Barrier Actually Is

The skin barrier is the outermost layer of the skin, often described as a protective shield. Its primary role is to keep essential moisture in and harmful stressors out.

This layer is made up of skin cells held together by lipids that act like a seal. Together, they help regulate hydration levels, protect against environmental exposure, and support the skin’s ability to repair itself. When functioning properly, the barrier keeps skin feeling soft, resilient, and balanced.

A healthy barrier prevents excessive water loss, which is key to maintaining hydration and elasticity. It also limits the penetration of irritants that can lead to inflammation or sensitivity. This is why barrier health has such a direct impact on comfort and overall skin behavior.

When the barrier is disrupted, gaps form in this protective layer. Moisture escapes more easily, and the skin becomes more vulnerable to external stress. Over time, this can lead to dryness, irritation, and a dull or uneven appearance.

Signs Your Skin Barrier May Be Compromised

Barrier disruption does not always look dramatic. Often, it shows up through subtle changes in how the skin feels and responds.

One of the earliest signs is tightness after cleansing. Skin may feel clean but uncomfortable, even when using products that once felt gentle. This tight sensation suggests that moisture is being lost too quickly from the skin’s surface.

Sensitivity is another common indicator. Skin may appear red, sting when products are applied, or react unpredictably to ingredients that were previously well tolerated. This happens because a weakened barrier allows irritants to penetrate more easily.

Persistent dehydration is also a key sign. If skin continues to feel dry despite regular moisturizing, the issue may not be the product itself, but the skin’s ability to retain moisture. Without a strong barrier, hydration simply cannot stay where it belongs.

These signals are not signs of bad skin. They are signs that the skin barrier needs support.

Why Glow Starts With Barrier Strength

Glow is often associated with brightness or luminosity, but at its core, glow is about how smoothly and evenly light reflects off the skin. This is why barrier strength plays such a central role in radiance.

When the skin barrier is healthy, hydration levels are more stable. Skin appears plumper, smoother, and more even in texture. Light reflects more evenly across the surface, creating that natural, lit-from-within look people associate with glow.

A strong barrier also keeps skin calm. Reduced redness, less sensitivity, and fewer reactive flare-ups allow the complexion to look clearer and more consistent. Calm skin behaves more predictably, which means products absorb better and makeup applies more smoothly.

When the barrier is compromised, glow becomes harder to achieve. Dehydration leads to rough texture, irritation disrupts tone, and uneven moisture levels scatter light rather than reflect it. Supporting the barrier restores the conditions that allow radiance to show up naturally, without forcing it.

How to Strengthen the Skin Barrier Daily

Strengthening the skin barrier is not about adding more steps. It is about choosing steps that protect and reinforce what the skin already does well.

Cleanse

Cleansing should remove impurities without stripping away essential lipids. A gentle formula like the Argan Oil Creamy Cleanser helps cleanse the skin while preserving moisture, making it an important first step in maintaining barrier health.

Treat

Treatment products should support structure and resilience rather than overwhelm the skin. The Mushroom Peptides Firming Serum helps reinforce the skin’s natural framework while supporting hydration and elasticity. This step strengthens the barrier’s ability to function consistently over time.

Moisturize

Moisturizing is where moisture retention truly improves. The Mushroom Peptide Moisturizer helps reinforce the barrier by sealing in hydration and supporting comfort throughout the day. Regular use helps reduce moisture loss and supports long-term balance.

Weekly Support

Barrier care does not mean avoiding all treatments. Used once a week, the Vitamin C Glow Max Bright Mask helps refresh the complexion and support radiance without compromising skin balance. This allows skin to look brighter while staying calm and supported.

Conclusion

The skin barrier is the quiet force behind nearly every visible skin result. Hydration, comfort, smooth texture, and glow all depend on its ability to function properly.

Rather than chasing results through stronger products or more aggressive routines, prioritizing barrier health creates a foundation that supports everything else. When the barrier is strong, skin holds hydration better, reacts less, and reflects light more evenly.

No matter your skin type or goals, barrier care is the non-negotiable starting point. When you protect and strengthen this invisible layer, glow becomes a natural outcome rather than something you have to chase.

FAQ: Skin Barrier Basics

How long does it take to repair the skin barrier?

Skin barrier repair typically takes two to six weeksdepending on how compromised the barrier is and how consistently supportive products are used. Mild disruption can improve within a couple of weeks, while more sensitized skin may need additional time. Gentle cleansing, barrier-supportive serums, and nourishing moisturizers used consistently allow the skin to gradually restore its protective function.

Can exfoliation damage the skin barrier?

Yes. Over-exfoliation is one of the most common causes of barrier damage. Using exfoliating acids or scrubs too frequently can strip away essential lipids and disrupt the skin’s protective layer. When exfoliation is used excessively, skin may become tight, sensitive, or persistently dehydrated. Supporting the barrier first helps skin tolerate exfoliation better when it is reintroduced thoughtfully.

Should I simplify my routine if my barrier is compromised?

Yes. Simplifying your routine is often one of the most effective ways to support barrier repair. Reducing the number of active products and focusing on gentle cleansing, hydration, and moisture allows the skin to recover without additional stress. Once the skin feels calm, comfortable, and balanced again, other treatments can be gradually added back in.

This Statement Accessory Is Key To Elevating Any Outfit, Says Our Fashion Writer

As most of my friends eagerly cull their wardrobes, I keep holding on to my adolescent favourites. It’s no news that fashion works in cyclical patterns where old trends constantly become new, and I believe in bringing those cherished pieces back into my wardrobe. But even I wasn’t ready for the revival of the most worn piece of jewellery from the early 2010s – the chunky statement necklace.

Once favoured by most girls in my school and worn over anything from a bodycon mini dress to a t-shirt and jeans, the chunky statement necklace was a true icon of its time. And now, over 10 years later, this key piece is back in action, across catwalks, red carpets and street style moments. And what better time to embrace it than the festive season, as many of us head home for the holidays. Whether you’re rediscovering your old Topshop necklaces tucked away in the bottom of your childhood bedroom cupboard or buying into the trend for the first time, here’s the ultimate guide to the statement necklace revival.

The 25 best fashion moments of 2025

The Origin Story

It’s impossible to tell the tale of this Millennial style icon without talking about the J.Crew Bubble necklace. Originally created in 2010, when fashionista and now-ex RHONY Jenna Lyons was at the helm of the American brand, this piece of jewellery had a chokehold on street style during this period. With its cascading rows of resin gems, the necklace had an extendable back so you could wear it high up as a collar piece or dangling lower as an oversized boho pendant. This specific piece started a revolution as similar pieces overtook the high-street, with clusters of crystals, plastic beads and clanking metal pendants popping up everywhere. That same year, the launch of the Lanvin x H&M collaboration established the trend further, with the late creative director Alber Elbaz being at the forefront of the chunky necklace revolution.

The Catwalk Comeback

Over a decade later, this past September marked a new chapter in costume jewellery trends. Across shows in London, Paris and Milan, statement accessories were back in action. British designer Simone Rocha presented her elevated take on childhood imagination and the joy of dressing up with a plethora of floral details, including delicate bouquets blooming around the models’ necks. Budapest-founded brand Nanushka went with a more industrial approach to accessorising – bundles of metallic beads layering over clean, but voluminous silhouettes.

Schiaparelli’s Daniel Roseberry continued his own legacy of surrealist jewellery, this time in the form of stones that lit up, while Matthieu Blazy’s first collection at Chanel featured natural materials like coral and pearl arranged into blooming florets. And just like that, the chunky necklace was back!

How To Style It Today

Whether you’re cosying up with your family in matching PJs, walking around wrapped up in a practical puffer coat or showing off your new going-out dress, a bold statement necklace can wrap your whole fit with a figurative – or even literal – bow. But what are some of the tricks when it comes to wearing a chunky necklace in a contemporary way? Instead of layering it over the top of your button-down shirt or dress, like you did back in the day, consider it your glamorous base layer. Tucked inside a suit jacket and only partially on show, the necklace will feel more unexpected. Opting for monochrome pieces that match the colour of your top will feel extra modern, as will layering multiple chunky necklaces and mixing different types of metals. If going for a formal look, take inspiration from Ariana Grande and her stylist Law Roach, who supersized Glinda’s charm necklace for the Australian premiere of Wicked: For Good. A large centre pendant, in this case a butterfly, will transform even the simplest of outfits into an eye-catching moment.
