5 EASY WAYS TO STOP HAIR LOSS THAT WORK ~ THE MALE GROOMING REVIEW

0

What’s the best way to stop hair loss?

Hair loss in men, often referred to as male pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia, is a common condition that can start as early as a man’s twenties or thirties. It typically follows a predictable pattern, beginning with a receding hairline or thinning at the crown.

The primary cause is genetic, influenced by hormones like dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which shrinks hair follicles and slows hair growth. While hair loss is a natural part of aging, it can affect self-esteem and confidence.

Treatments range from medications like minoxidil and finasteride to hair transplant surgeries, offering varying levels of effectiveness.

Here are five easy, practical strategies to help reduce hair loss for men:

1. Improve Your Diet

foods for hair growth

  • Protein Intake: Hair is mostly made of keratin, a protein. Make sure you’re eating enough protein-rich foods like eggs, fish, chicken, and beans.
  • Iron and Zinc: Iron helps blood carry oxygen to hair follicles, while zinc aids in tissue repair. Spinach, nuts, and red meat are good sources.
  • Biotin: Biotin deficiency can lead to hair loss, so incorporate biotin-rich foods like eggs, almonds, and whole grains.

It’s true what they say: You are what you eat. And the same applies for your hair. The better your diet, the better chance you’ll have of boosting healthy hair growth.

2. Manage Your Stress Levels

hair loss

  • Chronic stress can lead to hair loss due to hormonal imbalances. Try techniques like meditation, regular exercise, deep breathing, or hobbies that help you unwind.
  • Sleep: Aim for 7-8 hours per night to give your body time to recover and your hair the opportunity to grow.

Do not underestimate how detrimental stress can be on your hair. One on four men experience thinning hair because of stress. The better you keep on top of stress, the more hair you are likely to keep.

3. Try Derma Rolling

  • Micro needling your scalp with a derma roller or derma stamp, can help boost the production of protein and collagen, which in turn can help reactivate hair follicles.
  • This practice is easy to do, and a micro needling device, be it a roller or a stamp, is very cheap and long lasting.

Micro needle once a week with a 1.5mm needle, or twice a week with a 0.5mm needle. You should see results in about 3-6 months.

4. HR23+ Hair Restoration Supplement

hair restoration supplement for hair loss

  • Tackle hair loss safely and effectively with Europe’s leading hair supplement. HR23+ is a long-established non-medial hair supplement that targets hair thinning at the root cause in both men and women.
  • HR23+ has been shown to be effective in 9 out of 10 users.

5. Consider Minoxidil or Natural Topicals

hair growth serum

  • Minoxidil (Rogaine) is a topical treatment approved by the FDA to reduce hair loss and promote hair growth. Apply as directed, and results typically appear after 3–6 months. It works particularly well with a micro needling routine.
  • Natural Alternatives: Oils like rosemary and peppermint oil may improve circulation when massaged into the scalp, supporting follicle health. Mix a few drops with a carrier oil and massage into your scalp.
  • Keratinocyte Growth Factor Serum: KGF Serum is a specialised hair growth serum that stimulates hair follicles to promote growth and thickness. KGF is a protein that encourages keratinocyte cell production, essential for hair development and repair. This serum often targets the scalp to improve hair density, strength, and overall scalp health, helping to reduce hair thinning and breakage over time.

These approaches work best when done consistently over time, and many can support overall hair health while slowing hair loss.

Rodial’s Bee Venom Eye Cream Is, Yes, Made With Real Bee Venom—Review

0

As a beauty director, I’ve seen and tried it all. Snail mucin? Check. Sunscreen made with beets? Double check. But an eye cream formulated with… bee venom? Um, that was definitely a first.

Enter, the Rodial Bee Venom Eye Cream. As the name implies, this tightening treatment is formulated with bee venom, an ingredient—unbeknownst to me until earlier this year (at least in the beauty industry)—that helps smooth fine lines and plump up skin by way of stimulating blood circulation. When used in eye cream, like this one, it can help target crow’s-feet and undereye puffiness. (If you have a bee allergy, though, tread lightly as what’s inside the tiny tube is the real deal.) Alongside the potent (but totally safe to use!) poison is vitamin C, which brightens the undereye area and helps fade the look of dark circles.

Although you can absolutely use this treatment twice a day (morning and night), I prefer it in my morning routine because of the vitamin C inclusion. So after I rinse off my nighttime skin care (I don’t wash my face in the a.m.), I apply my prescription topicals and then, using my ring finger, lightly tap the cream under and around my eyes. Once it’s absorbed, I’ll slather on moisturizer and end with some sunscreen. Then, because I’m still getting used to the idea of bee venom in beauty products, you can bet that I’ll probably end up telling a couple people that I’ve got poison on my face. Guys, I’m weird, I don’t know.

You can find the Rodial Bee Venom Eye Cream, along with other editor-loved products, in the December Allure Beauty Box.

6 Subtle Signs of Loneliness That Women Tend to Miss

0

When you’re lonely, you usually end up slowly disengaging from the people around you, Dr. Brinen explains. There’s a lot of ways this can happen, but being too busy with work or in your own world, and forgetting to call or text people back can feed this, he explains. Ditto if you’ve felt too wiped to meet up with friends lately and they just stopped asking you to get together. “We slowly frog-boil ourselves into this,” he says.

Independence is generally seen as a good thing for women, which doesn’t help in this situation, Gallagher says. “We’re hyper-independent and it’s easy to think, ‘I have to figure things out on my own’ and then stay in that mode,” she says. “You may not realize that you’re feeling lonelier and lonelier.” Gallagher says this comes up a lot in her therapy sessions, which is why she often recommends that patients ask for help as part of their “therapy homework.”

Subtle signs of loneliness, according to experts

Every person’s experience with loneliness is different, but there are a few things that can signal you’re sliding into the state of mind—or maybe are already there.

1. The idea of socializing seems stressful.

Socializing takes effort, but it can make you feel anxious if you haven’t done it in a while. “If you don’t have a lot of people around you and the idea of re-engaging feels stressful, you might be lonely,” Dr. Brinen says. “It’s easy to then think that people don’t want to be around you, and the wall for re-engaging feels higher.”

2. You don’t reach out to others.

You may also be creeping into loneliness if the thought crosses your mind to reach out to somebody and you decide to do something else, like listen to a podcast or watch a show. “We can look at those moments and wonder, ‘Is it really that I want to listen to this podcast or am I seeing connecting with other people as too much effort?’” Dr. Brinen says.

3. You tell yourself you’re an ‘introvert.’

Being introverted is definitely a thing, but it’s not the same as being lonely, Gallagher says. “People will tell themselves that they’re an introvert and don’t need friends, but that ends up with you feeling lonely,” she says.

4. You feel off.

Loneliness often brings other feelings along with it, William Chopik, PhD, associate professor of psychology at Michigan State University and director of MSU’s Close Relationships Lab, tells SELF. “Try to focus on how your body is responding,” he says. “If you are feeling low in energy, lethargic, irritated, restless, those are symptoms that usually accompany loneliness.” Of course, those symptoms can be caused by a range of things, but Dr. Chopik says loneliness is a cause worth pursuing if you also haven’t had meaningful interactions with people recently. “Usually people who are feeling ambiguously bad or in the dumps can improve their mood by engaging meaningfully with others,” he says.

5. You’re not filling old voids.

It’s natural for friends to move away and hobbies to change, but that can have a big impact on your social life, Gallagher says. “Your community and environment may subtly change, but if you’re not filling those vacancies with other social activities and friends, you could be setting yourself up for loneliness,” she says.

6. You want to connect with others—you just don’t.

Socializing requires some level of effort, and that can feel intimidating if you haven’t done it a lot, Dr. Brinen says. “If you feel a yearning to connect with other people and at the same time are not doing it, you may be lonely,” he says.

There are a few things you can do to turn this around.

Gallagher suggests starting out by taking an inventory of how often you’re seeing people and interacting with others. From there, look at your habits around being social. “Are you backing out on plans at the last minute? Are you inviting people to do things? What are you doing to create a community?” she says.

The 5-Minute Shift That Changes Everything – Merindah Botanicals

Some days, “taking care of your skin” feels like one more thing on your list, doesn’t it?

Life is full, your mind is busy, and by the time you finally stop moving… you barely have energy left for a shower, let alone a skincare routine.

And that’s exactly why we don’t talk about routines anymore.

For years, we did. We shared skincare routines, morning routines, evening routines.

But we realized something:

Routines feel like we’re adding to an already bursting to-do list.

Another thing to check off. Another thing to feel guilty about when you skip it.

So we stopped.

We started calling it what it actually is: a ritual.

Not a task. Not a chore. Not something you have to do.

A moment you get to have.

That’s the Anti-Routine movement.

And it changes everything.

So what’s the difference?

A routine is something you rush through.

Wash.
Wipe.
Moisturise.
Done.

It works… but it doesn’t do anything for you.

A ritual is something you exhale into.

It’s five quiet minutes where you soften—inside and out.

It’s the scent that makes your shoulders drop.
It’s the warmth of your palms on your skin.
It’s the moment the day finally slows down.

Rituals make you feel held—even when life isn’t.

Why this shift matters (for your skin + your mind)

When skincare becomes a ritual instead of a task:

✔ You stop skipping it
It becomes a moment you look forward to—not a chore.

✔ Your skin responds
Slow, intentional touch boosts circulation and brings life back to your complexion.

✔ Your stress levels lower
Aromatherapy isn’t just nice—it actually calms your nervous system.
And yes—your skin shows the difference.

✔ You reconnect with yourself
Even for just five minutes.

And for many women, this becomes the first moment of the day that’s theirs.

How to make your 5-minute ritual non-negotiable

1. Pick the moment that feels easiest

After your morning shower.
Right before bed.
Or even after the kids are asleep.

No pressure—just a time that feels natural.

2. Make it feel different from the rest of your day

Turn off the overhead light.
Use a softer lamp.
Let the world dim while you soften too.

3. Let your senses guide you

Breathe in the botanicals.
Feel the cool sweep of your toner.
Massage your face cream slowly.

Small things, big shift.

4. Keep it simple

Three steps.
Five minutes.
No overwhelm.

5. Protect it

Not because you “should.”
But because you deserve one moment that gives more than it takes.

The bottom line

Great skin isn’t only about products (though the right ones help).

It’s about the way you care for yourself—consistently, gently, intentionally.

Routines get done.
Rituals make you feel.

And when something makes you feel good… you keep doing it.

That’s where spa-worthy skin starts.
That’s the heart of the ritual.

What does taking five minutes for yourself give you? I’d love to hear in the comments.

Miley Cyrus Made ’90s Prom Hair Look Everyday Casual—News

0

Do you remember prom magazines? My friends and I would spend hours browsing their glossy pages in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, picking out our favorite dresses, accessories, and glam details on every page and dreaming of our own future prom looks. Obviously, updos were a huge part of the prom aesthetic; you had to have your hair swept up, curled, and pinned to keep the attention on your Jessica McClintock A-line gown! Of course, by the time I was of prom-going age in the mid-’00s, the popular “prom updo” was on its way out, but it’s been having a resurgence on the red carpet lately, and Miley Cyrus is the latest celeb to put her stamp on the style.

Cyrus, whose song “Dream as One” appears in the new Avatar movie, popped by Jimmy Kimmel Live in a hairstyle that looked like it walked right off the pages of one of my treasured preteen prom magazines. Her highlighted dark blonde hair was parted deeply to one side and pulled tightly up, with the lengths gathered into a high bun at the crown of her head. Instead of a polished, not-a-hair-out-of-place ballerina bun, though, Cyrus gave her bun a spiky ‘90s-style texture by keeping the ends out, not pinned in place. The front portion of her hair was left loose for a massive tendril situation on just one side of her face.

I can absolutely see this hairstyle paired with a shimmery orange organza two-piece prom dress—and don’t forget the beaded choker or diamond “illusion” necklace to match! But then again, it also looks really cool and modern with a more casual ensemble to the Miley. Instead of the ultimate ‘90s prom manicure, the chunky French tip, Cyrus kept her nails short and bare—all the better to show off the diamond ring on that finger.

Tips To Choose Based On Your Hair Type & Scalp — Posh Lifestyle & Beauty Blog

Who doesn’t want smooth, healthy, luscious hair? But with the growing hair and scalp woes, achieving this feat seems difficult. But, hey! it’s not impossible. With the right hydration shampoo, you can restore the lost nourishment of your hair and bring back your ‘good hair days.’

However, with so many hair cleansing options available, both online and over the counter, choosing the right product seems overwhelming. But worry not; our guide below will definitely make it feel like a breeze and will ensure you pick a shampoo that’s perfect for you.

Choosing Right Hydration Shampoo for Your Hair Type and Scalp

Everybody’s hair and scalp type is unique. Thus, one needs a hair cleansing formula that can suit specific needs and offer optimum results. Hence, here are a few tips to help you choose the right hydration hair cleanser based on your hair and scalp types:

Often, due to loss of natural oils or overexposure to external factors like UV raysdust, or pollution, your hair and scalp may turn dry. Thus, it is a hint that you must start using a good hydration hair cleanser with star ingredients like glycerin and glycolic acid.

These can help retain moisture in your hair and scalp while promising thorough cleansing, thus saving them from becoming dry and lifeless. Also, using such a shampoo can help avoid a flaky scalp that can be a thriving ground for dandruff.

When one washes their hair too frequently or uses harsh shampoos, it may strip the strands and the scalp of the natural oils. Thus, to overcompensate, your scalp and hair may start producing excess oil, making them feel sticky. So, in such a scenario, pick a shampoo with propylene glycol.

It helps restore the lost hydration in your hair and prevents your scalp from becoming greasy. Also, it is important to pick a lightweight cleansing formula so that your hair and scalp remain fresh and exude a nourished gleam.

When you have normal hair and scalp, it is important to pick a hydration shampoo that effectively balances natural moisture content while being gentle. Such shampoos usually contain ingredients like sodium gluconate, citric acid, sodium benzoate and dimethiconol.

Also, such products usually cleanse your strands and, at the same time, moisturise them without being too harsh. Regular use of hydrating shampoos will help ensure that a healthy hair and scalp is maintained.

As coloured hair is more prone to dryness and damage, choosing the right hydration shampoo is of utmost importance. Thus, opt for products that feature bio-protein care as they seamlessly help restore hydration in the scalp and strands while repairing hair damage.

When you use a hydrating shampoo regularly, it helps maintain the vibrancy of your hair colour without causing any damage. It surely makes your hair and scalp feel nourished from within.

If you have a sensitive scalp, it is suggested to opt for a hydration shampoo with scalp-friendly, gentle ingredients. But are you thinking about how to identify such shampoo? It’s simple- look for a product that is free from sulphates, parabens and synthetic dyes and uses the unique hydra-glycol technology to keep your hair and scalp moisturised and clean.

Also, such shampoos must feature ingredients like glycerin, glycolic acid, and propylene glycol that soothe the scalp, leaving it feeling refreshed and nourished.

Get Best Hair Care: Additional Tips for Buying Hydrating Shampoo

Besides considering your hair and scalp type, there are other parameters, too, that demand equal attention when buying a hydration shampoo. Find them listed below for a smart purchase:

  • Prioritise Buying a Lasting Hydration Formula

A shampoo with several hydrating nano molecules is best equipped to keep your hair nourished for hours. Thus, prioritise buying such a hair-cleansing formula from an african beauty shop that promises extended hair and scalp hydration and better manageability of strands throughout the day. You may look at the product label for information on how many hours the shampoo promises lasting hydration.

  • Damage Repair in Every Use

Often, when your hair has lost its natural moisture content, damage is inevitable. Also, it takes time to restore back the natural oils. Thus, you need a cleanser that starts working on the damage repair right from the first use and, thereafter, produces positive results with every use.

  • Opt for Lab-tested Shampoos

Lab-tested shampoos have the confidence of the experts. Thus, usually, such products are safer compared to other alternatives in the market. Hence, when buying a hydrating shampoo, pay attention to the product label and look for words like ‘expert certified’ or ‘ lab tested’ to make the best pick.

Wrapping Up

Whatever your hair and scalp type, if it loses its natural moisture content, damage easily sets in. But you can now avoid that with our tips above regarding the selection of the right hydration shampoo. So, be a smart consumer and watch out for the best hair care products. Follow our tips and always make a smart buy that promises a healthy hair and scalp environment.

Modern Day Duke Beard Wash & Tonic

0

Where has he been for months I hear you say? Growing a beard. With that in mind expect one or two posts on beards over the coming weeks and months, but today I’ll start off with two cracking products from Modern Day Duke – Luxurious Beard Wash and Superior Beard Tonic.

So, who are Modern Day Duke? You can read all about the company and it’s ethos over at their website here:

LUXURIOUS BEARD WASH

A 200ml bottle of the luxurious beard wash will set you back £16.95, which compares favourably with other beard washes on the market. There are a number of things that I genuinely like about this beard wash – it smells lovely, it lathers up a dream, it cleans away grime and doesn’t dry out my skin.

Those four things above make this a must-have product for any beardy weirdy like me.

But saying that it smells lovely is a bit vague and really doesn’t do this justice. It blends together cedarwood (a favourite base note in many an aftershave in my collection)lime and aloe vera. The cedarwood gives it an earthy masculine nose but the sharpness of the lime gives it a fresher tangy citrus waft that personally I’ve found a touch addictive.

Just two pumps of the beard wash, slap it onto a wet beard and you’re away – it’s like an explosion of lather that intensifies the fragrance two-fold. Result!

Last but not least, my beard feels clean, smells clean and fresh while also have a softer, smoother feel.

SUPERIOR BEARD TONIC

Having now come down with a massive dose of OBD (Obsessive Beard Disorder) keeping it in shape and trying to avoid looking like a hobo means carefully oiling and brushing down the stray hairs. Get a crappy oil and you’ll be wiping oil it off your face, hands and sometimes clothing all day. I’m happy to report that this is not one of those lemons!

While the oil itself is quite thick any fears that this would just be smeared up and down my face were quickly allayed – a couple of drops from the applicator, a quick warm up between the palms and it’s ready to go. Being, well, an oil, it is smoothed onto the hair really quickly and is absorbed by the hair and skin in under a minute. Excellent.

Throw into the mix once again that lovely fragrance, this time with hints of bergamot, patchouli and grape. It’s fresh, it’s fruity and for some reason whenever I use this I have an urge to grab an axe and chop some wood.

Styling my beard is a doddle using this – the one day I didn’t use it my lovely aunt commented “you look homeless”, which says it all.

Modern Day Duke Beard Wash & Tonic

Saving the best for last – my beard does grow quicker using the tonic – in just four months I’ve managed to grow a beard that would have taken at least a year. Indeed, the people I work with have commented on how fast it has grown.

50ml of this will set you back £18 and at that price, if you have whiskers, you shouldn’t be without this.

I’ve been using both products on my ever-growing (and greying) beard now for a good four months. Those four months have seen my beard grow at a speed I’ve never known before, not a hint of beard itch or scratching and the oil leaves the longer style of beard in a position where brushing and styling is a breeze.

They (Modern Day Duke) say that with a great beard comes great responsibility. Not too sure about that, but when they attach phrases like superior and luxurious to these products I’m more than inclined to agree with the assessment. Both products are reasonably priced, I’ve been introduced to a brand I will be using again (when this batch runs out) and I know I’ll be supporting a company that manufactures here in England.

Summarising in one word how my beard feels after using? Majestic.

The products behind some of today’s most viral celebrity hairstyles are officially Ulta-shop-able. Amika (the Brooklyn-born, B Corp-certified brand beloved by pros and A-listers alike) is making its long-awaited debut at Ulta Beauty, marking its first new U.S. brick-and-mortar retail partnership in more than a decade. With two of Hollywood’s most-booked hairstylists, Clayton Hawkins and Glen Coco Oropeza, as core members of the amika Stylist Collective, the it-girl kits they rely on for red carpets, music videos and major moments are now more accessible than ever.

As of this week, Ulta Beauty guests can shop amika’s full lineup in all stores and on Ulta.com. That means the brand’s most iconic innovations—from the prestige market’s number-one dry shampoo, perk up ($29), to the cult-classic soulfood nourishing mask ($36)—are now more accessible than ever. Also joining the mix: amika’s newest frizz-fighting formulas, including frizz-me-not hydrating anti-frizz treatment ($30) and forget frizz shampoo ($28) and conditioner ($28), which bring the brand’s signature salon-grade results to every hair routine.

For amika, the Ulta Beauty partnership represents a defining next chapter.
