How to Use HydroPure Tinted Serum

0

As a diehard Liquid Minerals lover, I was apprehensive and excited about HydroPure Tinted Serum. I hoped it would have the same serum-like texture with the sheer tint that I love, and I was not disappointed! HydroPure Tinted Serum is packed with skincare ingredients like Hyaluronic AcidCoQ10, Olive Squalaneand, of course, pure mineral pigments for a natural-looking tint. This skin-loving formula has led many people to wonder if HydroPure Tinted Serum is skincare or makeup. For me, it’s definitively makeup;I love the super sheer coverage and ultra-glowy finish it gives my normal-to-dry skin. Here’s how I like to use HydroPure Tinted Serum!

How to Use HydroPure Tinted Serum: My Makeup Routine

1. HydroPure Tinted Serum
I start with two pumps and apply with my fingers. I find that using my fingers is a fast and easy way to apply my base, plus my fingers break down the encapsulated liposomes super easily.

2. Enlighten Concealer
I have dark under eyes, so for me it’s important to use a concealer. I love Enlighten Concealer because it’s a creamy formula with the perfect peachy undertone to camouflage my dark circles.

3. PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation
If I’m having a good skin day, I’ll skip PurePressed Base, but if I have a breakout, I like to pat PurePressed Base onto that area for added coverage.

apply purepressed base

4. POMMISST Hydration Spray
Whether I use PurePressed Base or not, I love to set my complexion with POMMISST Hydration Spray. The uplifting scent and antioxidant protection are added benefits to my skin.

5. Glow Time Blush Stick
I love pairing HydroPure Tinted Serum with a cream blush formula, so Glow Time Blush Stick was a no brainer! I used the shade Balmy on my cheeks and lips for added glow and color.

apply glow time blush stick

6. PureLash Lash Extender & Conditioner
To finish my simple, 5-minute face, I use PureLash Lash Extender & Conditioner and Longest Lash mascara. When used together these two lash items make my lashes look full, long and heathy!

apply PureLash Lash Extender & Conditioner

I love the glowy, natural-looking coverage HydroPure Tinted Serum gives my skin; it’s a bonus that I’m doing my skin a favor by using a product full of skin-loving ingredients. And don’t worry, if you’re someone who likes more coverage, apply PurePressed Base after applying HydroPure Tinted Serum. By layering HydroPure Tinted Serum and PurePressed Base, your complexion will look refreshed and flawless. If you try out HydroPure Tinted Serum, don’t forget to tag @janeiredale and use #TheSkincareMakeup.

The Best Winter Hair Colors and How to Care for Them

Do the changing seasons also make you want to change your hair? Explore the best winter hair colors and find out how to care for them.

Why Update Your Hair Color for the Winter?

There are a few reasons why you might want to hit the salon for a new hair color in the winter:

  • Style shifts: Many winter wardrobes incorporate deeper hues like burgundy or emerald. Updating your hair color can better match these cozy winter tones.
  • Less sunshine: As the temperatures drop and you spend more time inside, you might start to lose that energetic summer glow. A new hair color can better complement your winter skin tone.
  • Holiday inspiration: Festive events and spending more time around family might make you ready for a bold hair update.
  • New year, new look: The new year rolling in might inspire you to try out a new hair color. Why not change it up?

The Best Winter Hair Colors

If you’re ready for a color change, whether you’re looking for winter blondes or brunettes, consider these exciting winter hair trends:

Chestnut Brown

This timeless brown winter hair color is beautifully highlighted by its vibrant red undertones. Chestnut brown is a versatile hair color and looks great if you have warm or neutral undertones.

Icy Blonde

Many people associate darker hair with the winter—but believe it or not, blonde shades are still perfect for the season. If you’re looking for a bright winter hair color, a silver-toned icy blonde is perfect for frosty days. An icy blonde will look best on you if you have cooler undertones.

Caramel Highlights

If you want to subtly refresh your hair and have warmer undertones, try caramel highlights. Caramel highlights will add gorgeous winter dimension to your hair and will look great on brunettes or darker blondes.

Mulled Wine

For a winter hair color that’s a little more dramatic, try a mulled wine shade. Inspired by spiced winter drinks, it blends purple and red colors for a rich, eye-catching look. This winter hair color will look best on those with cooler undertones.

Espresso Brunette

Perfect for neutral undertones, espresso hair is a deep brown color that almost appears black. Typically, it’s created with a warm dark brown as the foundation, highlighted with gentle lighter-brown shades to bring out depth and richness.

Smokey Ash Brown

Smokey ash brown is perfect for winter: its cool tones perfectly complement winter color palettes. It blends a deep brown with hints of muted gray or silver. Smokey ash brown hair will look best on you if you have cooler undertones.

Honey Blonde

If you have warm or neutral undertones and want to try blonde this season, try honey blonde. This color has hints of gold and copper for a glamorous and radiant look, perfect for brightening your winter look.

How to Choose the Right Winter Shade for You

To choose the right winter hair color, you might want to consider the following:

  • Maintenance: Some hair colors require more maintenance; for example, if you dye your hair bright blonde, it may require regular purple toning shampoo to remove brassiness. If you’re looking to go longer between salon visits, choosing a shade that’s closer to your natural hair color can help it blend more smoothly as it grows out, making the transition feel more natural and less noticeable.
  • Undertones: Everyone has either warm, cool, or neutral undertones. Try to choose a shade that complements your skin tone. If you’re not sure what your undertones are, look at your wrist in the sunlight. If you notice blue or purple veins, you likely have cool undertones. Greenish veins mean you have warm undertones, and a mix of blue and green means you have neutral undertones. Your stylist can also help blend your winter hair color to better match your undertones.
  • Your hair health: Hair that’s extremely damaged might not be ready for dyes or extreme lightening. If you’re concerned about the state of your hair, talk to your stylist or find out how to manage damaged hair at home.

How to Care for Winter Hair

Hair is prone to dryness in the winter due to less moisture in the air, and chemical treatments like dye can potentially lead to damage. But don’t worry, you can combat dry, damaged hair with the right hair products:

Try a Pre-Shampoo Treatment

Start with N°.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment to prime your hair for deeper hair, rebuild hair bonds, strengthen it, and protect hair integrity. Use it as a two-part system with N°.3 Hair Perfector® to reduce breakage and visibly strengthen hair. N°.3 will also restore a healthy appearance and texture to hair.

Use the Right Shampoo and Conditione

Use a shampoo and conditioner that’s clinically proven to reduce breakage and leave hair smoother, more conditioned, and easier to detangle. Reach for N°.4 Bond Maintenance® Shampoo, a highly moisturizing shampoo that nourishes, strengthens, and repairs. Once you’ve rinsed out N°.4, use N°.5 Bond Maintenance® Conditioner to hydrate, repair, and strengthen your hair.

For blondes, use a purple shampoo and conditioner like N°.4P Blonde Enhancer™ Toning Shampoo and N°.5P Blonde Enhancer™ Toning Conditioner. After one use, these shampoos and conditioners neutralize brassiness and boost brightness while strengthening and hydrating hair.

Treat Your Hair with a Hair Mask

Give your hair a weekly moisturizing boost with a hair mask. Hydrate and volumize fine to medium hair with the Weightless Nourishing Mask. This mask offers lightweight hydration through 5 washes.* For medium to coarse hair, hydrate and control frizz with the Rich Hydration Mask. This mask also provides hydration that lasts through 5 washes.** Both of these masks can be used weekly in place of conditioner. Still not sure which mask is right for you? Take the Mask Quiz today!

Opt for the Right Styling Treatments

Help your winter hair look its best at holiday parties and beyond with N°.6 Bond Smoother® and OLAPLEX N°.7 Bonding Oil™.  N°.6 is a leave-in styling treatment that adds moisture, strengthens, and reduces frizz for up to 72 hours. Use it on damp hair to speed up blow-dry time while smoothing, softly define and smooth air-dried curls. For maximum shine, softness, and color vibrancy, try OLAPLEX N°.7 Bonding Oil™. This weightless hair styling oil also reduces breakage and provides 450°F/232ºC heat protection.

Morning & Night Rituals for a Healt – 100% PURE

0

Introduction

Skin responds best to rhythm. Just like sleep, nourishment, and movement, skincare works most effectively when it is consistent and predictable. When routines are constantly changing or overly complex, the skin can struggle to find balance, especially when the barrier is already stressed.

A daily skin reset is not about doing more. It is about doing the right things, in the right order, every day. Simplicity and repetition allow the skin to settle, repair, and function more efficiently over time.

Morning and night routines do not need to be long or complicated to be effective. In fact, a simple skincare routine built around a few intentional steps often delivers better results than a crowded shelf of products. When skin knows what to expect, it is less reactive and more resilient.

By creating a consistent rhythm, you give your skin the space it needs to rebuild its barrier, maintain hydration, and return to a calm, healthy state.

Why Skin Thrives on Routine and Rhythm

Skin is a responsive organ. It adapts to patterns and relies on consistency to maintain balance. When products are introduced and removed frequently, or when routines vary widely from day to day, the skin barrier can become unsettled.

Predictability helps reduce reactivity. When the skin receives the same supportive ingredients regularly, it can focus on repair rather than defense. This is especially important during periods of barrier recovery, when the skin needs stability to restore moisture retention and resilience.

Consistency also allows barrier repair to occur gradually. Lipid production, hydration balance, and cell renewal all improve over time with repeated support. Skipping steps frequently or constantly switching products interrupts this process and can slow progress.

A steady routine creates an environment where the skin feels supported rather than challenged. Over time, this leads to improved comfort, smoother texture, and a more even appearance.

Morning Routine: Prepare and Protect

The morning routine is about setting the skin up for the day ahead. The goal is to refresh the skin, support the barrier, and maintain hydration without disruption.

Cleanse

Start by gently cleansing to remove overnight buildup without stripping essential moisture. The Argan Oil Creamy Cleanser refreshes the skin while preserving lipids, helping maintain barrier comfort from the first step.

Treat

Follow with a supportive treatment that reinforces structure and resilience. The Mushroom Peptides Firming Serum helps hydrate and support firmness, preparing the skin to better handle daily environmental exposure.

Moisturize

Finish by sealing in hydration and maintaining comfort. The Mushroom Peptide Moisturizer reinforces the barrier and helps skin stay balanced throughout the day, creating a smooth, comfortable base.

A simple morning routine focused on protection and hydration helps the skin remain calm and supported as it faces daily stress.

Night Routine: Repair and Restore

Nighttime is when the skin naturally shifts into repair mode. Cell turnover increases, moisture loss slows, and the skin becomes more receptive to nourishment. A consistent night routine supports this process and helps reinforce barrier recovery.

Cleanse

Begin by removing the day gently. Cleansing at night clears away sunscreen, makeup, and environmental buildup without disturbing the skin’s protective lipids. Using a gentle cleanser allows the barrier to remain intact while preparing the skin for treatment.

Treat

Treatment at night focuses on nourishment and support rather than stimulation. Applying the Mushroom Peptides Firming Serum helps replenish hydration and support skin structure while the skin is at rest. This step encourages resilience and comfort by morning.

Moisturize

Finish with a moisturizer that reinforces the barrier while you sleep. The Mushroom Peptide Moisturizer helps seal in hydration and support overnight repair, allowing the skin to wake up feeling softer, calmer, and more balanced.

A night routine does not need extra steps to be effective. Consistency and gentleness are what allow the skin to restore itself naturally.

Weekly Maintenance for Ongoing Balance

Daily routines create stability, but weekly care helps maintain clarity and radiance without disrupting balance. The key is choosing treatments that support renewal gently.

Used once a week, the Vitamin C Glow Max Bright Mask helps refresh dull skin and support brightness without overstimulation. This type of targeted care encourages radiance while respecting the skin barrier.

Weekly maintenance is not about correcting aggressively. It is about giving the skin a subtle boost that complements the daily rhythm rather than competing with it.

When weekly care is aligned with barrier support, skin remains more even, comfortable, and resilient over time.

Conclusion

A daily skin reset routine is not about perfection. It is about consistency.

By repeating a few intentional steps each morning and night, the skin learns to trust the routine. This trust allows the barrier to strengthen, hydration to stabilize, and reactivity to decrease.

Long-term skin health is built through small actions done consistently. When skincare becomes a rhythm rather than a reaction, the skin responds with comfort, balance, and a glow that lasts.

FAQ: Daily Skin Reset Routine

Do I need different routines morning and night?

Yes, but the difference does not need to be dramatic. Morning routines focus on preparing and protecting the skin for the day, while night routines support repair and recovery. The core steps can remain the same, but the intention behind them shifts. This consistency helps the skin maintain balance while allowing natural overnight repair to occur.

How long should a daily skincare routine take?

A daily routine does not need to be time-consuming to be effective. A simple morning or night routine can take as little as five minutes. What matters most is consistency. Repeating the same supportive steps daily allows the skin barrier to strengthen over time, which leads to better results than longer, irregular routines.

What if I miss a day?

Missing a day occasionally will not undo your progress. Skin responds to patterns over time, not perfection. Simply return to your routine the next day without trying to overcorrect. Maintaining a calm, steady approach helps the skin stay resilient and balanced in the long run.

DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster Review

Personalised beauty is having a real moment, and DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster is one of the most interesting launches I’ve tried recently. It’s a sheer, glow-enhancing skin tint that’s custom-matched to your exact skin tone using a face scan, and the result is impressively seamless.

If you like the idea of glowing skin that still looks like your skin (not shimmered, glittery or overly perfected), this is definitely one to know about.

What Is DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster?

DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster packaging
DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster packaging

DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster is a customised sheer skin tint designed to blur, smooth and add radiance while matching your exact skin tone.

You scan your face in good natural light, DCYPHER creates your bespoke shade, and the product is then made specifically for you. There’s also a match guarantee, which takes away a lot of the risk that usually comes with complexion products.

It’s designed to be worn in multiple ways:

  • Alone for a no-makeup glow
  • As a radiant primer
  • Mixed with foundation for added luminosity

Key Ingredients

Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate) – hydrates and plumps

Glycerin – helps lock in moisture and maintain comfort

Caesalpinia Spinosa Fruit Extract & Kappaphycus Alvarezii Extract – help create a smoothing, second-skin effect for soft focus blur

My Review of DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster

My Review of DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster
My Review of DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster

This is a new addition to the DCYPHER portfolio, so I was keen to try it. Their core product is a full foundation that you can choose both the finish and level of coverage, plus have it tailored to your skin type.

Texture & Finish on the Skin

The texture is one of my favourite things about this product.

It has a beautifully light, hydrating feel that spreads effortlessly over the skin. It doesn’t feel heavy, greasy or silicone-y. Instead, it melts in quickly and leaves the skin feeling comfortable and fresh.

The finish is:

  • Sheer but beautifying
  • Softly radiant rather than shimmery
  • Gently blurring, especially around pores and texture
  • Very natural and skin-like

This is glow that looks like healthy skin, not makeup sitting on top.

Coverage: Sheer but Effective

Coverage is very sheer, but it still makes a visible difference.

It subtly:

  • Evens out the complexion
  • Takes down redness
  • Adds brightness and life to the skin

This is not about covering everything, it’s about improving how skin looks overall. Perfect for days when you want your skin to look better, but not “made up”.

The Custom Colour Match: Does It Work?

Yes, and surprisingly well.

The scanning process is quick and easy, and the resulting shade match is excellent. Because it’s a sheer tint, it’s also very forgiving, but the fact that it’s custom-made means:

  • No orange or grey undertones
  • No obvious mismatch at the jawline
  • No need to guess your shade

And if it’s not quite right, DCYPHER will adjust it free of charge.

DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster Before & After

This is one of those products where the improvement is subtle rather than transformative. It doesn’t mask skin, it quietly improves how it looks. These before and after images show the kind of soft-focus smoothing and healthy radiance you get with a single layer applied all over the face.

This isn’t a product designed to dramatically cover or correct. The appeal is how natural it looks and how skin still looks like skin, just fresher, more even and softly luminous.

DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster Application Video

This short application video shows how easily DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster blends into the skin. I’m applying a single layer all over the face to show the sheer coverage, subtle glow and skin-like finish in natural light.

DCYPHER vs Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

This is a very natural comparison, and having used both, here’s how I’d describe the difference:

DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster

  • More natural-looking
  • Less shimmer
  • More skin-like
  • Fully custom shade match

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

  • More reflective and glowy
  • Visible shimmer
  • Fixed shade range

If you love the idea of Flawless Filter but sometimes find it a bit too shiny or not quite your shade, DCYPHER is a brilliant alternative.

How to Use DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster

This is one of those beautifully versatile products that works in multiple routines.

1. For No-Makeup Makeup Days

Apply it all over like a light base. It evens, brightens and adds glow without looking like foundation.

2. As a Radiant Primer

Use it under your regular foundation to add a subtle lit-from-within effect.

3. Mixed with Foundation

Mix a small amount into your foundation to sheer it out or add radiance.

4. My Favourite Way

Use it all over the face, then add:

  • Concealer where needed
  • A more full-coverage foundation only in targeted areas

This gives the most natural, skin-first result.

Who Will Love This?

You’ll really enjoy DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster if you:

  • Love natural, skin-like makeup
  • Want glow without obvious shimmer
  • Struggle to find good shade matches
  • Like multi-use complexion products
  • Want something easy and foolproof

If you prefer full coverage or very matte finishes, this may feel too subtle — but as a glow base, it’s excellent.

Final Thoughts

DCYPHER Custom Glow Booster is a genuinely clever complexion product. The custom shade element works beautifully, the texture is light and hydrating, and the finish is one of the most natural glows I’ve seen.

It’s effortless, flexible and very wearable, the kind of product that quietly earns its place in your routine because it just makes skin look better with minimal effort.

If you’re looking for an easy skin tint, a glow booster that doesn’t shout, or a more natural alternative to Hollywood Flawless Filter, this is well worth trying.

How Do I Go From Black Hair to Blonde? | Hair Advice

0

Feeling inspired by Billie Eilish’s new blonde bombshell transformation? — Us too. Going from black to blonde is a major hair change and we are here for it! But as great as it looks in the final outcome, it can be a tough journey to get there. If you’re anything like us, you’ve experimented with hair colors, box dyes and at-home haircuts in the last year — which can add another layer of difficulty to the overall transformation. Not to worry, if there’s a will, there’s a way! And we’ve got you covered (with lots of bleach and conditioner) to get there!

We’ve consulted with professional Toronto colorist Justine Frisoni to give us a step by step process of what to expect when making such a drastic change to your hair color. If you aren’t ready for a drastic color change yet, an easy way to switch up your look is through hair extensions. Experiment with different shades before reaching for permanent dye.

Step 1: Keep Your Hair Healthy

Before starting on your color journey it’s important to consider the health & integrity of your hair. Because the color process is lengthy and harsh on your hair – it must be healthy!

Start with conditioning treatments, minimize the use of heat tools, and swap out cheaper products for salon quality shampoos and conditioners (sulfate/paraben free). Trimming any dead ends is also important as you want your hair to be strong enough to handle the bleaching process! Once your hair has been prepped to optimal health you can start the dyeing process.

Step 2: Do a Hair Analysis

On your first salon visit bring a coffee and a snack! “Time is going to be your friend for this transformation”, says Frisoni. The first step to this process is a thorough hair analysis. A strand test will most likely be conducted to see how the bleach will take to your hair. Once this is done and you’re good to begin, your colorist will start the “bleach out” process.

You can expect to have your entire head bleached, except for about 1 inch of your root — your scalp is a heat conductor and therefore will process your root bleach faster than the rest of your hair, so it’s important to do this step last. Your colorist will bleach your roots once the rest of your hair has had time to process.

Step 3: Color Stripping

This is a tedious process and therefore you should expect the color stripping to be repeated a few times before you reach the “pale yellow” stage. The stages of your color will go from black to red, red to orange, orange to bright yellow, and then ultimately to a pale yellow where toner can be applied to achieve your desired blonde. If your hair can handle second bleaching within your first salon visit your colorist will repeat the bleach out again. If not, they’ll suggest coming back after your hair has had time to recover — typically six weeks.

Once you’ve stripped your color in the bleach out process, you’ll most likely leave the salon with an orangish color depending on your personal progress. Frisoni suggests having your colorist tone your hair to a flattering shade for the weeks in between the stripping process so that you can tolerate the tones you may be left with.

Note: It is important to wait the appropriate time before re-bleaching your hair as you should have the desired length of a 1-inch root before re-bleaching. If you rush this part of the process you can risk overlapping which can cause breakage. By waiting too long to re-bleach you may risk color banding — different shades of blonde lines due to uneven lifting.

Step 4: Repeat

Depending on your hair’s starting color & strength, you may have to repeat the stripping process for a third and or fourth time to reach the pale yellow stage. Billie Eilish’s colorist confirmed it took four dye sessions for Eilish to erase the jet black she started from. This color stage is needed in order to tone your hair to a softer blonde.

During the color lifting you may notice some areas lighten quicker than others, this just means you will have to spot treat specific areas to have your base all the same color. Because the bleach out process is extremely hard on your hair, Frisoni suggests having a “bond builder” blended into your bleach formula. This will help protect your hair from extra damage, however, it is important to note that bond builder slightly dilutes the bleach, but your hair will thank you in the end!

Step 5: Time to Add Hair Color

Color! Whether you’re wanting to go full Marilyn Monroe or a little softer blonde like Eilish it’s all in the toner! In Billie Eilish’s case, she opted for an Ash Blonde tone and this is a solid coloring. Frisoni always suggests bringing inspo pics to make sure your colorist has an exact idea of what tones you’re wanting to achieve for your final look.

AFTERCARE TIPS:

Being a blonde is no joke! Maintenance and care are just as important as the process it took to get there. Maintenance on your color can typically be every eight weeks to include; root touch-up, tone and trim if needed. Nourishing your hair is always important, especially after such a harsh process, so routinely using conditioning treatments and purple shampoo to leave brassy tones out is key!

We’ve done the research for you and now it’s your time to shine like a superstar! Follow these easy steps to go from black to blonde hair and let us know what you think of your new look!

Sistaco Nail Powder Review 2025–My Honest Experience as a Busy Mom

0

Why I Usually Avoid Nail Polish

I have to confess—I’m not a huge fan of nail colors. Most polishes have that nasty chemical smell that instantly triggers my bronchial sensitivity (asthma-like reaction). On top of that, as abusy mom, I don’t have the time (or patience!) to sit in a salon every two weeks.

So when Sistaco reached out and offered to gift me their Mineral Bond Nail Set in exchange for an honest review, I was intrigued butskeptical.

Could this really be the safe, salon-quality solution I could use at home?

Let’s find out.

About Sistaco

Sistaco is an Australian-based beauty brand that created the Mineral BondNail System, designed to be a non-toxic, cruelty-free, vegan alternative to traditional nail polish. With over 300,000 women worldwide already using it, Sistaco promises salon-worthy nails.

First Impressions

The first thing I noticed? No bad smell.

Seriously, none. Unlike traditional nail polish that reeksof harsh chemicals like formaldehyde or toluene, Sistaco claims to have eliminated 16 harmfulchemicals.Their Mineral Bond Nail System uses mineral-based powders that are:

  • Non-toxic
  • Vegan
  • Cruelty-free
  • Quick-drying and mess-freeEasy to apply

With a wide range of shades (from subtle nudes to bold colors), there’s something for everymood and occasion.

My Experience Using Sistaco

Application Process

At first glance, the system looked like it had too many steps. But once I got started, I realized itwas actually super simple:

1. Apply the base coat

2. Cure under the LED lamp

3. Dip or brush on the powder

4. Finish with the top coat and cure under the LED lamp

I followed this official how-to video and this tips & tricks video to make sure I was applyingcorrectly. The process was surprisingly smooth and not too messy, unless you’ve got a fan blowing nearyour table!

That’s it!

Honestly, it went smoother than expected. If you’re a visual learner, check out this application video

Results

✨ Vibrant colors – The finish was smooth, glossy, and eye-catching.

✨ Fast drying – Thanks to the LED lamp, I didn’t have to wait around forever.

✨ Durable & chip-resistant – Even after dishwashing, laundry, and mom-life chaos, my nailsheld up.

✨ Lots of compliments – Friends kept asking me where I got my nails done!

And here’s the best part: one small jar gives you 30+ manicures. That means big savings compared to salon visits.

Pros & Cons

Pros

*No harsh chemical smell

*Non-toxic & safe for sensitive lungs

*Cruelty-free & vegan

*Long-lasting and chip-resistant

*Salon-quality finish at home

*Saves money in the long run

Cons

*A bit more expensive upfront than regular polish

*Removal takes longer than acetone-based polish

*Slight learning curve – you need to watch the videos before your first try

That said, removal is still less harmful to your nails and doesn’t involve harsh-smelling acetone.

Why Non-Toxic Matters

Many traditional nail polishes contain harmful chemicals like:Formaldehyde – linked to respiratory issues and cancer risk

Toluene – can cause headaches, dizziness, and reproductive harm

Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) – associated with hormonal disruption

👉 According to the American Cancer Society, long-term exposure to these toxins can impact overall health. That’s why switching to safer alternatives like Sistaco is such a game-changer.

Final Verdict

So, was Sistaco my next nail fail?

Not even close.

For me, this Mineral Bond Nail System is a game changer. It’s safe, stylish, andsalon-quality—all from the comfort of my home. I won’t pretend it’s perfect—the price andremoval process might turn some people off—but the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

As a busy mom with bronchial sensitivity, Sistaco has given me a way to enjoy nail color againwithout fear of irritation. And that’s priceless.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely—especially if you want healthier, long-lasting manicureswithout the salon hassle. Sistaco is definitely worth trying.

Wear flared jeans with these stylish knee-high and ankle boots for January 2026

0

Flared jeans have the potential to do something no slim silhouette has ever achieved: to turn a coffee shop into a movie scene. There is no hurry that can resist this perfectly calculated flight of denim, no shoe that hides under its drape without taking centre stage. When denim falls to the ground, it demands more than just a nice shoe; it asks for a style accomplice that’s perfect in height, shape and conviction. January does not forgive improvisations, and neither does this trouser silhouette.

The magic – because yes, there is magic in play – happens right there, between the edge of the hem and the first centimetre of the bootie. It’s a minimal but definitive space, where style is precisely measured. The cold calls for boots that hug, the urban rhythm needs soles that hold up, and the look demands perfect proportion. There is no room for mediocrity here: the shoe can either elevate or ruin the look. And in 2026, no one has time for ruining a fit.

Getty Images

This process is all about precision. It’s about understanding how a trouser with a firm fit finds its exact balance in the shape of the shoe. Every pair of flared jeans needs a base to support it, not compete with it. And that solid base – a boot or a bootie – defines how everything else moves.

Black slim-heeled boot

This streamlined boot works as a continuous vertical line. The slim heel elevates without imposing weight, allowing the denim to partially cover the shaft and mark a long, flowing, confident silhouette. It works especially well with high-waisted, deep-wash flared jeans because it balances the lower heel with pinpoint precision.

Ivory pointed-toe boot

The light tone introduces contrast without breaking harmony. This boot calls for denim with controlled drape and precise length, barely grazing the instep. The result is clean, contemporary and well thought out. With flared jeans, it brings light to winter looks dominated by dark layers, dense fabrics and straight structures. A choice that demonstrates chromatic understanding and mastery of proportions.

Jonak Heeled Pointed-Toe Boots

Camel suede western boot

This is where texture comes in as the silent protagonist. Dark camel suede adds depth and character, dialoguing with flared jeans in more relaxed versions, slightly seventies, but perfectly current. The low heel supports the volume of the pants, while the straight leg allows the denim to fall without friction. Works with structured shirts, sharp belts and compact wool coats.

Free People Finn Tall Western Boots

Dark brown low-soled boot

This option goes for stability and presence. The smooth leather, firm sole, and restrained heel height create a solid foundation for wide-flared jeans, especially in sophisticated everyday contexts. Ideal for cities where walking is part of the daily ritual. The pant falls naturally, effortlessly, reinforcing a confident, practical and very well resolved look.

DuoBoots Verity Knee High Boots in Tan Leather

Black boot with kitten heel

The low heel redefines elegance from restraint. This sharp boot accompanies longer flared jeans, almost touching the floor, creating a continuous line that stylises without exaggerating. It’s a smart choice for long days, meetings, and urban commuting.

Black Chelsea bootie

The Chelsea boot silhouette works as an anchor here. Its compact silhouette balances flared jeans with a controlled, slightly shorter hem. Ideal for looks where the pants don’t completely cover the shoe. The side elastic adds functionality, while the polished leather maintains a sleek, contemporary look. Perfect with structured layering and understated palettes.

Cole Haan Featherfeel Chelsea Leather Boots

Cole Haan Featherfeel Chelsea Boots

Black ankle boot with a flat heel

This streamlined design accompanies cleaner, flared jeans with a moderate opening. The flat heel elevates the ensemble without detracting from comfort, while the tapered toe visually lengthens the leg. It works especially well with fitted tops or relaxed tailoring, creating a modern balance.

LK Bennett Marcia Black Nappa Stretch Leather Ankle Boot

Brown short western bootie

The dialogue here is cultural. The western bootie, reinterpreted in a short version, converses with flared jeans from a clear historical reference, but without literal nostalgia. The contrasting fabrics add texture, the slanted heel supports the shape, and the pants follow with movement. Ideal for daytime styling with character, light layering and understated accessories.

Russell & Bromley Birchwood Western Boots

Black ankle boot with sculptural heel

This ankle boot sets the pace of the ensemble from the ground up. The defined heel design rearranges the drape of the jeans, giving stability to silhouettes with strong lines or visible seams. It functions as a visual base that supports volume and brings intention to the ensemble. A safe choice when form matters as much as result.

Khaite Arizona Leather ankle Boots

Brown wide-heeled bootie

The last choice goes for elegant stability. The wide heel supports wide flared jeans, creating a firm base that allows for natural movement. Brown leather adds chromatic depth, ideal for warm winter palettes. It works with long coats, dense knits and a relaxed but informed attitude.

January 2026 confirms something essential: flared jeans don’t work alone. They need footwear that understands their history, their fall and their intention. Long boots and precise ankle boots become strategic allies, not as embellishment, but as the foundation of the ensemble.

Here’s How to Increase Your Vitamin D Levels in Winter

0

On the other end of the food spectrum, certain mushroom varieties are also a good source of vitamin D (PSA to vegans, vegetarians, and those who prefer plant-based items!), and are sometimes even treated with UV light to produce extra, according to the ODS. Per the USDA, morel, chanterelle, maitake, and UV-treated portabella mushrooms tend to contain the most vitamin D, although levels vary based on growing and storage conditions. For instance, chanterelle mushrooms have about 114 IU per cup.

Most of the vitamin D in the American diet, however, comes from foods that are fortified with vitamin D. Nearly all dairy milk sold in the US falls into this category, according to the ODS. (You can get 117 IU per cup of 1% milk with added vitamin D, for example.) Yogurt, plant-based milks (like soy, almond, or oat milk), cereal, and orange juice are also commonly fortified. For example, Cheerios have 60 IU of vitamin D in each 1.5-cup serving. Whatever your preference, adding in more foods that are naturally rich in vitamin D or fortified with it can help increase your intake.

3. Supplements

It’s possible to get enough vitamin D in your diet, but it’s not always easy. “If people aren’t eating a variety of foods, especially cereals, milks, yogurt, and fish, then a supplement might be needed,” Spence says.

Just a few disclaimers: It’s always smart to check with your doctor before starting a new supplement, and to do your homework before buying. If a blood test reveals a deficiency, your doctor can give you a prescription supplement or recommend an over-the-counter supplement in a dose that can restore your levels to normal, Dr. Shapses says. If you work with a registered dietitian, they may also recommend a supplement, Spence says, as well as counsel you on dietary sources of vitamin D.

New Year New Hair with Attitude Hair Dye Brave on Cordelia Frost

Happy New Year my friends! It’s a New Year New Hair around here, as I finally decided to break my pink and black color combo. While I loved my Manic Panic Pink Warrior and black hair, after 3 years with it, I was ready for a change. From UV-reactive glow-in-the-dark Pink Warrior, I switched to a new-to-me European hair brand, Attitude Hair Dye. Brave, a beautiful bright blue, was the color I selected to replace my pink. My hair is now bright blue, indigo, purple, and black. We lightened my roots, refreshed my black, and put Brave on top of everything else.

Everything purchased by me. All opinions my own.

About Attitude Hair Dye

Attitude Hair Dye was created by Rebecca and Rob van Berkel in 2020, as an extension of their webshop Attitude Holland. They state that, “Our hair dyes are a labor of love, developed with care and creativity, including the concept, colors, and names, all inspired by our vibrant community.”

Their sustainability section is very cool! They currently source, product and distribute within the Netherlands. Attitude Hair Dye is 100% vegan and cruelty-free. The packaging design ensures minimal waste so you can get every last drop of hair dye out of the container. Attitude Hair Dye also increased their packaging volume to allow for less waste in 2025, as well as making all their packaging from recycled packaging in 2026.

Additionally, I love that Attitude Hair Dye includes up-cycling ideas and photos for what to do with your empty hair dye jar. Some of the photos include putting plants into them, jewelry, or using them for decor.

About the Hair Dye Products

Attitude Hair Dye currently offers 27 colors plus a pure white toner. The jars of product start at € 11,99 for 135ml. The XL size is € 19,99 for 250ml. By comparison, Manic Panic Pink Warrior Amplified Cream is $17.99 for 118ml.

Blue, Purple, Indigo and Black Hair

Attitude Hair Dye Brave looks great with my very fair neutral cool skin tone. I’ve been doing minimal makeup right now because I don’t have a slay station set up and the bathroom here has no counter space. I’m stuck applying makeup while sitting on my bed, balancing a mirror on my lap, not an optimal position for comfort or complex makeup.

What I’m Wearing

Cerise is a bright pink-toned red. They also have a wonderful cool-toned blue red called Crimson that I adore. I want to pick up their Berry shade but it’s not available close to me in Europe. Quick research shows me that it might be available at Sephora France or that I can order directly from Haus Labs. Ordering from Sephora France would probably be quicker and easier.

When I have a bit of extra energy, I also wear the Bellabeautebar Dark Dreamscape palette. I still need to get up a review and swatches for this because I love it to pieces. Bellabeautebar is my #1 eyeshadow brand right now.

Use code CORDELIA to save at Bellabeautebar if you want to check them out.

You can also find Bellabeautebar at Monolith Shop EU, if you’re in the EU like I am now.

Favorites from 2025

I wanted to share my favorites (beauty, fashion, books) from 2025 with you!

Top 5 Makeup Brands of 2025

Bellabeautebar makes my favorite eyeshadows right  now, the ones I reach for and literally dream about. Black Moon Cosmetics makes my favorite liquid lipsticks like Sleepwalker (wore to my wedding), Sorrow, and Armageddon. Haus Labs Le Monster Lip Crayon is my favorite non-liquid lipstick formula because it really stays on my lips and doesn’t move around or transfer onto my teeth. Silk Naturals makes the amazing lipgloss sticks, such as Hex and Potion, which give moisture and shine without migrating onto my face. Devinah also makes gorgeous eyeshadows that I love, as well as glitter glue and eyeshadow primer.

Honorable Mentions:

Thrive Causemetics Brynn Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara has been my favorite mascara for the past several years. It works and doesn’t flake on me, and it gives me length. So pretty! It still needs to come in a burgundy wine, though I see they have a burgundy brown right now.

Aromaleigh Loose Multipurpose Powders (use code CORDELIA to save) for cheeks and eyeshadows in shades like Kupala or Ostara. I love these loose powders and the large jar size lasts forever. They’re a great value for their price.

Buxom Power Line Lip Pencils have been my favorite lip liners. They have a very limited color range but I get great results with these pencils and they last all day for me. They claim to plump, and while I have not noticed them plumping, I do know that they wear like iron and stay in place for me.

Top 5 Fashion Brands of 2025

Based on what I wore, Black Milk Clothing is my primary fashion brand. I am always happy in their clothing, it makes me feel good, and I wear it daily. One Golden Thread is on this list because I wear my black zip up hoodie from them daily. Midnight Hour and Foxblood often pair with Black Milk Clothing for me. Midnight Hour has made some really great tops that I love, while Foxblood has some killer jumpsuits. With Barbell, I wear their button down dress shirts for every business meeting and their women’s workout shirts at the gym and for yoga.

See my favorites featured here in my Happy New Year short.

Top 10 Books / Series I Read in 2025

I took social media off my phone for most of 2025 to stop myself from doomscrolling. Instead, I spent that time and energy reading books. I set a goal of 52 books and read 118, exceeding my goal. Below are my favorite books that I read in 2025.

Libraries and Museums on the To-Do List for 2026

Visit the museum. Read the book. Find the magic in the mundane.

One of the first things that Dave and I did once we moved to Europe was buy a museum pass. It pays for itself in 2-3 visits and they always have new and rotating collections. I’m so grateful that I got to go see the Vivienne Westwood Exhibit at Te Papa Museum Wellington and the Iris van Herpen Sculping the Senses Exhibit in the Netherlands.

Because my book budget is not unlimited, I do take advantage of Kindle Unlimited and read on my iPhone or iPad. However, if you don’t want to pay Amazon, I recommend getting a local library card so you can borrow ebooks or physical books. They also have a lot of other media you can borrow!

Final Thoughts

2025 was a transformative and challenging year for my family. Most of my time and energy was focused on work, Dave and my health. I know it has been a challenging year for many of you as well. I’m wishing you all the best in 2026.

Once I’m settled into my new home, I’ll be making more creative content again. For now, I’m updating on Instagram the most if you’re curious or want to say hi.

I called out Grok for removing women’s clothes, then it removed mine

0

But when Molly asked Grok a similar question, the response was different:

“Grok told me the photo wasn’t me, yet anyone looking at that image would assume it was me. Grok made light of the situation, its programming not seeming to understand the severity.”

The chatbot responded to Molly in a sarcastic tone, stating “Oh, come on now-that’s not you you”, suggesting the image wasn’t really her, adding “I was just playing along with the request to ‘put her in bridal lingerie’ like a digital dress-up doll. No actual consent forms were harmed (or signed) in the making of this fun; it’s all pixels and imagination.”

Molly said Grok’s response made her feel “even more helpless.”

X user Paul Tassi received a similar response when he made a post highlighting how Grok was still actively removing people’s clothes, with the chatbot responding by blaming “thirsty AF” users, stating there is “no pearl-clutching like other bots” and signing off “Elon gets it”.

Elon Musk, the owner of X, is clearly aware of what has been happening on his platform. Across several posts, he has prompted Grok to replace his own clothes with a bikini, targeted Microsoft founder Bill Gates with the same prompt, and quote-tweeted images where the bot had placed bikinis on inanimate objects like toasters and rockets.

Musk’s silence has not gone unnoticed by those being harmed. Content creator Ess said, “He continues to share this trend around and has not spoken once about the issues surrounding it, or what his bot is being used for. Until someone threatens his golden throne, he will not care.”

It’s a frustration echoed by Molly: “It’s about profit, not people.” While Evie adds, “People need to be held accountable, whether it’s the people writing the prompts or the ones creating the bots and allowing it to happen.”

Imogen Sadler, a UK barrister, said the actions of Grok and the users prompting it could constitute a criminal offence.

“The non-consensual sharing of a deepfake intimate image is illegal under section 66B of the Sexual Offences Act”, she explained. “An intimate image includes any image showing exposed genitals, buttocks or breasts- including where those parts are visible through underwear or clothing equivalent to underwear.”

“If an image is shared without a reasonable belief that the person consented, that alone can amount to a criminal offence”, she added.

Although the UK government moved last year to criminalise the creation and solicitation of explicit deepfakes through an amendment to the Data (Use and Access) Bill- following campaigning by GlamourJodie Campaigns Professor Clare McGlynn, Baroness Charlotte Owen and Not Your Porn- the law has yet to be brought into force. Sadler expressed frustration at the delay:

“If this legislation had been in force, there would be a clear framework criminalising both the requesting and the creation of intimate images. Without it, we are left relying only on sharing offences.”

While men continue to target women for speaking out, Ess has refused to be silenced. She has launched a petition calling for action against X and the creators of Grok, which has already gained more than 15,000 signatures.
