French luxury group Kering announced on Wednesday, July 15, the appointment of Romain Spitzer as CEO of Bottega Venetaits Italian luxury house renowned for its ready-to-wear, leather goods, and accessories.

Spitzer will assume his new role on September 1. Reporting to Luca de Meo, CEO of Kering — the parent company of Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, and other luxury brands — he will be based in Milan and join the group’s Executive Committee.

Romain Spitzer began his career at Guerlain in 1995 before holding leadership positions at Jean Paul Gaultier Parfums, Yves Saint Laurent Parfums, and Parfums Christian Dior. Since 2016, he has served as Chairman and CEO of the LVMH Fragrance Brands division, overseeing brands including Givenchy Parfums, Kenzo Parfums, Acqua di Parma, and Loewe Perfumes. In 2025, his responsibilities were expanded to include Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Acqua di Parma, Loewe Perfumes, and Officine Universelle Buly 1803.

Bartolomeo Rongone, Bottega Veneta’s former CEO, stepped down at the end of March to join Moncler. During his tenure, the Italian luxury house — renowned for its signature intrecciato woven leather craftsmanship — strengthened its position as one of Kering’s strongest-performing brands.

In 2025, Bottega Veneta was one of the few Kering maisons to deliver organic revenue growth, with sales rising 3% to EUR1.7 billion. By contrast, Gucci, the group’s largest brand, reported a 19% decline in revenue over the same period.

Since Luca de Meo took the helm at Kering last September, the luxury group has undertaken a broad reshuffle of the leadership teams across its maisons. In early June, for example, Kering appointed a new CEO at Alexander McQueen as part of its ongoing management overhaul.

During the presentation of his strategic plan in April, de Meo singled out Bottega Veneta as one of the group’s key growth drivers, citing opportunities to expand beyond its core leather goods business into categories such as ready-to-wear. “Bottega Veneta is one of the most solid and distinctive luxury houses, boasting exceptional craftsmanship, a unique creative identity, and remarkable growth potential,” he said in a statement.
