A few snippets of digital ephemera and IRL recommendations I’ve enjoyed lately…
/ The NEW YORKER AT 100 documentary is like The September Issue for smart people. My highlight was the lady drawing cartoons with a Rotring pen. So good you’ll want to watch it twice.
/ KEEP IT CHIC found the perfect portable handbag hook.
/ THE DEAD WEIGHT OF BEAUTY. Stuart McKenzie’s 80s and 90s youth memories are bound in this newly released collection of poignant, poppy and deadpan-funny poetry (below).
/ The reality of A.I job hunting. It’s definitely not you, it’s them.
/ A privileged bonkers but charming wee story on opening an indie bookshop in the FT.
/ MARTIN MARGIELA’S AIDS T-shirt maquette just resurfaced on Insta. And Lutz Huelle’s storytelling is quite adorable. (Note: “pleat” = “fold”.)
/ The angels of ALEKOS FASSIANOS (top) are not presented as otherworldly beings, but rather resemble figures who carry a sweet kindness, a promise of light. In this way, Fassianos reminds us that the wondrous may hide within the ordinary, and that sometimes a simple pair of wings is enough for us to see the world a little more tenderly, reminding us that true light does not come from outside but glows discreetly within our soul. Which leaves me to wish a very happy holiday season to all my friends and readers!
