Revlon Expands Production in Spain with New Logistics Hub and Elizabeth Arden Line

0

THE WHAT? Revlon is strengthening its Spanish manufacturing footprint with the launch of a new automated logistics hub in Tarragona and the introduction of a dedicated Elizabeth Arden capsule production line.

THE DETAILS The US beauty group has invested more than US$20 million to expand its Tarragona facility near Barcelona, building a 5,600-square-meter warehouse equipped with an automated silo capable of storing 23,000 pallets and preparing B2B orders. The hub, currently in its test phase, will distribute products across Europe and selected Asian markets.

In parallel, Revlon has installed a new production line for Elizabeth Arden’s biodegradable soft capsules, integrating pharmaceutical-grade precision encapsulation technology. The Tarragona plant, which spans 41,000 square meters, will produce up to 400 million capsules annually.

The site employs around 470 people, with 100 additional roles being added, and produces approximately 100 million units per year, 75% of which are destined for the European market. Tarragona is Revlon’s second-largest global plant by volume and technology, complementing facilities in the US, South Africa, Mexico and Italy.

THE WHY? The expansion supports Revlon’s strategy of regionalised production to mitigate tariff exposure and currency fluctuations, while reinforcing its European supply chain and boosting capacity in high-value skincare segments.

REESON Beauty Highlighter Duo Review & Swatches

The REESON Beauty Highlighter Duo is one of my favourite versatile glow products, and it’s just got even better! The original shade, Universalhas been renamed Golden Nudeand there’s a brand-new addition to the line: Champagne Nude. Both shades are designed to give a natural, lit-from-within radiance, whether you prefer a subtle everyday glow or a buildable highlight.

Golden Nude (formerly Universal) remains a warm, universally flattering shade that works beautifully across most skin tones. Its finely milled powder and creamy balm layer blend seamlessly for a radiant, soft-focus finish that doesn’t emphasise fine lines or texture.

The new Champagne Nude is slightly softer and more neutral, making it perfect for those who prefer a lighter, understated glow. Like Golden Nude, it combines a smooth, silky powder with a creamy, dewy balm, creating a glow that can be worn alone or layered over powder for extra luminosity.

What is REESON Beauty Highlighter Duo?

Exciting update to the REESON Beauty Highlighter Duo! The original Universal shade has been renamed Golden Nude, and the line now also includes a brand-new shade: Champagne Nude.

Champagne Nude is a soft, neutral highlighter duo designed to deliver a natural, lit-from-within glow. The finely milled powder provides a smooth, soft-focus finish, while the creamy balm melts into the skin for a dewy, diffused radiance that works beautifully across light to medium skin tones. Layer over powder or use alone for a subtle everyday shimmer that doesn’t emphasise texture or fine lines.

Here’s a quick demo so you can see Champagne Nude in action:

I’ve embedded a quick YouTube Short below so you can see it in motion.

Compared to Golden Nude (formerly Universal), Champagne Nude is slightly softer and more neutral, making it ideal for a subtle, buildable glow. Whether you love a gentle everyday highlight or want something versatile for layering, Champagne Nude is a beautiful new addition to the duo.

The powder in the REESON Highlighter Duo feels like a liquid. It isn’t shimmery or sparkly, but more like a molten soft gold. The Balm is a beautiful moisturising formula that has a glow without a trace of shimmer.

How to use the REESON Beauty Highlighter Duo

REESON Beauty Highlighter Duo

This highlighter is so easy to use. You can use either the balm or the powder alone, or layer them for a custom finish.

I like to use the Powder first, and then apply the Balm on top to melt in the powder highlighter and give the skin a really diffused glow.

For a more amped up gleam, you can use the balm first and then set it with the powder highlighter. This is a higher shine finish but still super flattering and skin smoothing.

Finally, if you like, you can mix the balm and powder together and apply at once. Have a play.

Make sure you also check out the REESON Bronzing Balm.

Currently, the Bronzing Balm is available exclusively online at REESON Beauty. It is £38.

Black Women Who Revolutionized the Beauty Industry: 5 Icons Who Changed History

0

Black women who revolutionized the beauty industry have been the heartbeat of innovation for over a century, transforming the way we think about self care, entrepreneurship, and representation. While the world of cosmetics often feels like it belongs to modern influencers and massive corporations, the truth is that the foundations were laid by courageous women who built empires from their kitchens and changed the cultural landscape forever.

From creating the first haircare formulas for textured strands to demanding 40 shades of foundation as a global standard, these women didn’t just participate in beauty; they reinvented it. Let’s take a deep dive into the stories of the icons who paved the way.

Long before “self made” was a trending hashtag, Annie Turnbo Malone was making history. Born in 1869, she was a chemistry wiz who realized that the harsh chemicals women were using on their hair were doing more harm than good. She developed the “Wonderful Hair Grower” and founded Poro College, a massive training facility in St. Louis that taught Black women not just cosmetology, but business etiquette and financial independence.

One of her top agents happened to be a woman named Sarah Breedlove, better known to the world as Madam C.J. Walker. After working for Malone, Walker branched out to create her own legendary line. She became the first recognized self made female millionaire in America. What made her truly revolutionary wasn’t just her bank account; it was her “Walker System” of door to door sales that employed thousands of women, giving them a way out of domestic labor and into professional careers.

In the 1940s, if you wanted the ultimate luxury experience, you went to Harlem to see Rose Morgan. She opened the Rose Meta House of Beauty, which eventually became the largest African American beauty parlor in the world.

Rose was a visionary who famously said there was “no such thing as bad hair.” At a time when society was pushing Eurocentric standards, she celebrated the natural beauty of her clients. Her salon wasn’t just a place for a haircut; it was a five story palace featuring massage, skincare, a dressmaking department, and even a charm school. She taught the world that Black beauty was synonymous with high fashion and luxury.

The Modern Disruptors: Pat McGrath and Rihanna

Fast forward to the modern era, and the legacy of Black women who revolutionized the beauty industry continues with names that dominate every runway and department store.

Pat McGrath: Often called the “Mother of Makeup,” McGrath is arguably the most influential makeup artist of our time. Before she launched Pat McGrath Labs, she was the secret weapon for every major fashion house from Dior to Prada. She brought a level of artistry and experimental texture to the industry that simply didn’t exist before.

Rihanna: We can’t talk about revolution without the “Fenty Effect.” When Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty in 2017 with 40 shades of foundation, she essentially told the rest of the industry that “beige” was no longer the default. She proved that inclusivity wasn’t just a nice idea—it was a billion dollar business strategy.

The Best Korean Hair Masks Repair Damage and Seriously Boost Shine

0

You’ll also find camellia japonica seed oil, ceramides, peptides, and panthenol to smooth the cuticle and reinforce softness without heaviness. Choi explains that the oil “nourishes the strand rather than suffocating it.” Cho calls it “one of my favorite finishing products for instant shine,” adding that it makes hair look “smoother and more polished without feeling greasy.” She also loves the “musky floral fragrance that feels elevated and lingers in the best way,” which means it doubles as a subtle hair perfume so that you can skip your typical spritz.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Korean hair masks different from Western hair masks?

Korean hair-care products generally stand apart because they’re designed to treat the scalp—not just smooth the strands. “The main difference is that Korean hair treatments treat the scalp while Western hair treatments focus on the hair shaft,” says Dr. Jhin. Many Western formulas rely on heavy proteins, keratin treatments, and silicone-rich conditioners to repair damage and deliver instant shine, while Korean hair care looks at “long-term follicle support,” she explains. “The scalp is treated with the same level of care and attention as the face,” to create a healthy foundation for strong, beautiful hair.

That philosophy carries through to the ingredients. Korean hair treatments commonly use botanical extracts like ginseng, camellia oil, rice water, and green tea, along with fermented ingredients that enhance absorption and nourishment. You’ll also see gentle exfoliating acids such as salicylic or lactic acid to support scalp renewal, plus soothing ingredients like Gotu kola and panthenol to strengthen the scalp barrier. Proteins and ceramides are still part of the mix, but they’re “thoughtfully balanced with hydrating and anti-inflammatory ingredients rather than being the sole focus,” Dr. Jhin says—making the overall approach gentler, more preventative, and more holistic.

Are Korean hair masks good for fine hair?

Korean hair masks are a great fit for all hair types, especially fine hair, thanks to their formulation. Dr. Jhin explains that Korean hair care treats the scalp “with the same care and intention as facial skin care,” viewing it as the “soil” from which healthy hair grows. When that foundation is clean, balanced, and nourished, fine hair is less likely to struggle with excess oil, irritation, or breakage.

How we test and review products

When Allure tests a product, our editors look at it from every angle in an effort to best serve you. We review ingredients, scrutinize brand claims, and, when necessary, examine peer-reviewed scientific and medical studies. In addition to testing each and every product that’s included in each and every review, we rely on experts who shape their fields, including dermatology, cosmetic chemistry, and medicine, to help us vet the ingredients and formulas.

For our list of the best Korean hair masks, we considered each product’s performance across five primary categories: product ingredients and efficacy, packaging, fragrance, texture, and product wear. Every product was determined to have excelled in each category by our editorial team of in-house writers and editors, as well as contributors, along with special consideration from makeup artists and dermatologists. To learn more about our reporting and testing processes, read our complete reviews process and methodology page.

Our staff and testers

A beauty product is a personal purchase. You might be searching for a face cream to address persistent dryness or a new nail product to add to your Sunday self-care routine; you may simply be browsing around for the latest launches to hit the hair market. No matter what you seek or your individual needs and concerns, Allure wants to ensure that you love anything we recommend in our stories. We believe that having a diverse team of writers and editors—in addition to the wide range of outside testers and industry experts we regularly call upon—is essential to reaching that goal.

After all, can we really say a skin-care product is the “best” for people over 50 if the only testers we’ve solicited opinions from are folks who have yet to hit 30? Can we honestly deem a high-end diffuser worthy of your hard-earned cash if it’s never been tested on curls? We’re proud that our staff spans a wide range of ages, skin tones, hair textures, genders, and backgrounds, which means that we are able to fairly assess any beauty product that comes into the beauty closet.

When’s the Best Time to Shower: Morning or Night?

0

It’s common to think that your way of doing things is the best approach, from your political views to the way you position the toilet paper roll. But there’s also a debate swirling around the best time of day to shower, with people on both sides insisting that their timing is ideal.

There are entire Reddit threads devoted to this topic, with people making valid arguments on both sides. While dermatologists agree that the best time to shower is whatever it takes to consistently clean yourself, there also seems to be a general consensus about whether it’s better to shower at night or in the morning.

If you’re a diehard fan of morning or evening showers, there’s no reason to change things up. But if you want a professional to confirm (or dispute) that your go-to showering time is the best, keep scrolling.

Is it better to shower at night or in the morning?

The answer is annoyingly predictable: It depends. “The key is to shower consistently,” Ife J. Rodney, MD, founding director of Eternal Dermatology + Aesthetics, tells SELF.

Gary Goldenberg, MD, assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, agrees. “There’s no definitive ‘better’ since, at the end, it comes down to personal preference,” he tells SELF.

Morning showers can help people wake up, along with removing overnight sweat, bacteria, dead skin cells, and oils that can accumulate in bed, Dr. Goldenberg says. “This may be preferable to those that sweat more at night,” he adds.

But night showers help to remove dirt, sweat, pollutants, sunscreen, and environmental debris that build up on your body during the day before bed, Dr. Goldenberg says. And then there are people who prefer to shower twice a day.

Keeping all of that in mind, dermatologists seem to lean toward showering at night. “I generally recommend taking a shower in the evening,” Cindy Wassef, MD, a dermatologist at Premier Health Associates in Randolph, NJ, tells SELF. “It allows you to wash off any of the dirt, bacteria, or fungi you may have been exposed to throughout the day.” Because a lot of people don’t change their sheets more than once a week, Dr. Wassef points out that showering before slipping into bed helps to keep your bedding clean between washes.

Dr. Rodney is also in the pro-evening camp. “It’s super important that you moisturize your skin properly after showering, and some people are a little rushed to get out the door in the morning,” she says. “At night, you have more time to use adequate lotion all over your skin.”

Sea Buckthorn… A Super Berry

0

There are very few items in my house I’m addicted to. In fact, I really can only think of one at the moment. It’s the Face & Neck Elixir by HollyBeth Organics. I giddily anticipate using it every morning and night.

Always Choose Certified Organic

When you apply certified organic ingredients to your skin, you never want to use anything else. It changes the game and I begin to weep for my 40 plus years where I’ve used products packed with chemicals and artificial fragrances. For my next 40, I’m redeeming myself, and my skin.

Face & Neck Elixir

This Face & Neck Elixir, a formula crafted by HollyBeth Anderson, is a serum, so it delivers nutrients into the deepest layers of your skin. So where your typical moisturizer stops, the serum keeps on going. Like the Energizer bunny.

To figure out why I love this serum so, I took a closer look. One of the main ingredients is a super berry called Sea Buckthorn which is also found in her Rose Geranium Face Moisturizer.

Sea Buckthorn

Sea Buckthorn, a deciduous shrub, is nutritionally dense and thrives in harsh climates like Mongolia and northwestern China. The orange berries of this hearty shrub are edible and nutritious and when pressed, contain a high amount of saturated and polyunsaturated fats. Impressively, these small berries pack in 190 nutrients and phytonutrients. One berry contains 12x more vitamin C than your average orange. And, if that’s not enough, it is the only plant source that contains omega 3, 6, 7 and 9.

With such a nutritionally dense profile, Sea Buckthorn is a natural treatment for psoriasis, which I have. It helps regenerate skin tissue and maintain healthy skin. Which is why it is often used to treat acne, burns, wounds and Rosacea.

It also, I believe, promotes a feeling of well-being.  I swear to all you – every time I reach for this elixir, I smile wide in anticipation for how good it feels. Just two drops goes a long way…and it travels deep. Which is a good thing, I have some catching up to do.

How I Condition My Hair Properly (And What Most People Get Wrong)

0

I used to believe that conditioning my hair was the easiest step in my routine. Shampoo cleans, conditioner softens — simple, right? However, the more I learned about hair health, the more I realized that conditioning is actually one of the most misunderstood steps in hair care.

Many hair problems people complain about — dryness, frizz, limp strands, lack of shine, breakage — aren’t caused by bad shampoo. They’re often the result of incorrect conditioning habits. Using the wrong formula, applying it in the wrong place, rinsing it too fast, or overdoing it can all work against you.

Proper conditioning isn’t about coating your hair. It’s about supporting the hair fiber, restoring moisture balance, and protecting it from daily stress. Once you understand that, everything starts to click.

What Conditioner Really Does to Your Hair

To condition your hair properly, you first need to understand what conditioner actually does.

Shampoo opens the hair cuticle to remove oil, dirt, and buildup. Conditioner works in the opposite direction. It smooths the cuticle, reduces friction between strands, improves elasticity, and helps retain moisture. This is why conditioned hair feels softer, looks shinier, and breaks less easily.

Conditioners can also contain ingredients that:

  • Reduce static and frizz
  • Improve detangling
  • Add slip and manageability
  • Protect hair from heat and environmental damage

When used correctly, conditioner becomes a protective step, not just a cosmetic one.

How You Choose the Right Conditioner for Your Hair Type

Not all conditioners are created equal, and using the wrong one can sabotage your results.

If you have dry, damaged, or chemically treated hair, your hair needs richer formulas that contain emollients and oils such as shea butter, argan oil, or ceramides. These help reinforce the hair barrier and reduce moisture loss.

If your hair is fine or oily, heavy conditioners can flatten your hair and make it look greasy faster. In this case, lightweight conditioners or volume-focused formulas work better, as they hydrate without coating the strands excessively.

For normal hair, balanced conditioners are ideal. These provide moisture and smoothness without tipping your hair toward dryness or oiliness.

Understanding your hair type — and even your scalp behavior — helps you choose a conditioner that works with your hair, not against it.

The Correct Way to Apply Conditioner (This Step Matters More Than You Think)

how to condition your hair properly step by step

One of the most common mistakes I see is applying conditioner the same way people apply shampoo. Conditioner does not belong on your scalp unless it’s specifically designed for scalp use.

After shampooing, rinse thoroughly and gently squeeze out excess water. Hair that’s dripping wet won’t absorb conditioner efficiently.

Apply conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends, where hair is older, drier, and more prone to damage. Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to distribute the product evenly so every strand benefits.

Let the conditioner sit for two to five minutes. This pause is essential. It allows the conditioning agents to bond with the hair shaft instead of being rinsed away immediately.

Finish with a cool or lukewarm rinse. This helps smooth the cuticle and enhances shine.

How Often Should You Condition Your Hair?

Conditioning frequency should always be based on how your hair behaves, not rigid rules.

For most people, conditioning every wash helps maintain softness and elasticity. However, if your hair is very fine or your scalp gets oily quickly, conditioning every other wash — or using smaller amounts — may be more effective.

If your hair is curly, textured, or very dry, regular conditioning is essential. In these cases, adding a weekly deep conditioning treatment or a leave-in conditioner can dramatically improve hydration and curl definition.

The goal is balance. Hair should feel nourished, not coated or heavy.

Deep Conditioners vs Regular Conditioners

Regular conditioners are designed for frequent use and surface-level smoothing. Deep conditioners, on the other hand, deliver more intensive care.

Deep conditioning treatments usually contain higher concentrations of nourishing and strengthening ingredients. They’re especially helpful for:

  • Heat-damaged hair
  • Color-treated hair
  • Dry or brittle strands

Using a deep conditioner once a week can restore softness and resilience, especially if your hair is exposed to frequent styling or environmental stress.

Small Habits That Make Your Conditioner Work Better

Conditioner doesn’t work in isolation. Your daily habits play a huge role in how effective it is.

Detangle gently, starting from the ends and working upward. Rough handling causes breakage, even on well-conditioned hair.

Always use a heat protectant before styling with hot tools. Conditioner improves moisture, but it doesn’t make hair heat-proof.

Regular trims prevent split ends from traveling up the hair shaft, keeping hair healthier overall.

Finally, hydration and nutrition matter more than people realize. Hair reflects your internal health just as much as your product choices.

When Professional Advice Is Worth It

If your hair consistently feels dry, dull, or unmanageable despite using good products, professional guidance can help. A stylist can assess your hair’s porosity, density, and damage level and recommend targeted treatments.

Sometimes, the solution isn’t a new product — it’s a better technique or schedule.

Final Thoughts: Conditioning Is a Commitment, Not a Shortcut

Proper hair conditioning isn’t about chasing the latest product. It’s about understanding your hair, respecting its needs, and being consistent.

When you choose the right conditioner, apply it correctly, and support it with good habits, your hair rewards you with strength, shine, and manageability.

Healthy hair doesn’t come from doing more.It comes from doing things right — every time.

FAQ

Q: Should I apply conditioner to my scalp?

A: In most cases, conditioner should be applied to the mid-lengths and ends, not the scalp, unless the product is designed specifically for scalp care.

Q: How often should I condition my hair?

A: Most people benefit from conditioning every wash, but fine or oily hair may do better conditioning every other wash.

Q: Is deep conditioner better than regular conditioner?

A: Deep conditioners provide intensive care and are best used weekly, while regular conditioners are designed for frequent use.

Q: Can conditioner repair damaged hair?

A: Conditioner improves the appearance and manageability of damaged hair, but it cannot permanently repair broken hair fibers.
