Train with The Eyelash Emporium

0

What could be a better subject to discuss than the thing that drives us and is in the heart of everything we do – EDUCATION!

In this month’s blog Nikki is going to tell you what it is about education she LOVES so much! And she will discuss what you can expect on our training days – so if you’re thinking about training with us, read on…

Nikki says; “I absolutely love learning – I always feel you can learn something from everyone you meet. This could be in your work, personal or just day to day life. The lash industry is ever changing and evolving so it is essential to continue your student journey. This doesn’t matter if you are a new lash tech, an experienced lash artist or a lash guru teaching others – here is always something to learn!

Training courses are obviously a fantastic way to learn but there are also many other great ways too. Workshops, mentoring, following your favourite educators or lash idols on social media or reading blogs.

I love our courses and how passionate our educators are. It’s so important when looking for someone to train with, that you do your research. Make sure you don’t just go for the cheapest option. Research the company, the educator, look at pictures of their work.

Go for a company that has a good balance of theory and practical. I really like the fact that you receive an online pre-course with The Eyelash Emporium.
This gives students the chance to get an insight and learn a lot of the theory at their own pace before they attend the training day. This means we get so much more time for hands-on practical lashing too with models, so students leave confident ready to tackle their case studies.

On a day’s training I always get butterflies on the morning. This is mainly as I’m a massive perfectionist and I want my students to have the best day and for them to get everything out of it they had hoped for.

We start the training with a recap of the theory students have learned in the pre-course prior to coming and we get them picking up lashes straightaway to get them used to their new best friends – their tweezers.

We then move on to mannequin work to gain confidence whilst all the time continuing to build theory knowledge. After lunch this is when we move to an afternoon of live model work. It’s an intense day but it prepares you for your cases studies.

Watching the students on the day is amazing as they come in so nervous, and they leave feeling so much calmer and excited to start practicing.

Book your lash training course online today or by calling our Customer Services team on 01753 650656.

I hope to see some of you on one of our training courses or mentoring soon!”

How Lawmakers Are Expanding Coverage for GLP-1 Medications

0

Between 2022 and 2024, approximately 25 states implemented some form of taxpayer-funded coverage for anti-obesity medications. As reported on Pharmacy Times, during the first 2 quarters of 2025, at least 14 states introduced legislation or took regulatory actions impacting coverage for glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and gastric inhibitory peptide (GIP) drugs. State actions have been directed to individual or group health plans, state Medicaid programs, or both.

In January 2025, North Dakota became the first state to mandate insurance coverage for GLP-1 and GIP medications by amending the state Essential Health Benefit (EHB) clause. This was accomplished through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a North Dakota statute enacted in 2023, and an updated regulation from the state insurance department, which collectively added the drugs to the EHB plan for the state.2 This means that individual and group health plans must provide coverage for these medications to be compliant with the provisions of the ACA.

State initiatives directed toward mandating coverage by individual and group health plans include the following:

California: AB 575 directs plans to cover outpatient prescriptions for at least 1 antiobesity medication.

Colorado enacted a law (SB 25-048) that allows individuals to purchase extended coverage for GLP-1 drugs. This is a pull-back from a previous program that covered these drugs for state employees.

Connecticut: HB 5038 directs coverage of GLP-1 drugs for state employees, and HB 5485 directs coverage of GLP-1 drugs for other qualifying individuals.

Iowa: SSB 1138 would require state health agencies to review anti-obesity/GLP-1 drugs as a prescription benefit for state employees.

Montana: SB 417 would have mandated coverage for anti-obesity medications. This bill did not advance to enactment.

New Mexico: SB 193 would have mandated coverage for anti-obesity medications. This bill did not advance to enactment.

Texas: HB 2412 would have mandated coverage for GLP-1 medications. This bill did not advance to enactment.

Washington: HB 1197/SB 5166 would require state agency reports on future insurance coverage for GLP-1 drugs in the state medical plan.

West Virginia: HB 2912 would require insurance coverage of GLP-1 drugs for a patient with a valid prescription.

State initiatives directed toward extending coverage within Medicaid programs include the following:

Arkansas: HB 1332 would have required the state’s Medicaid to evaluate claims for the diagnosis frequency of obesity-related conditions and the cost of the conditions. This bill did not advance from the Senate.

Mississippi: SB 2867 would have added coverage of GLP-1 medications to state Medicaid plans. This bill passed the legislature but was vetoed by the governor on the grounds of fiscal challenges to the state. The bill included coverage for many other health care reimbursement matters and was not limited to GLP-1 medications.

Virginia lawmakers introduced an amendment to the state’s Medicaid plan. Virginia currently covers GLP-1 medications for the treatment of obesity; however, this reimbursement is predicated on several factors, including documented evidence of medical necessity, prior authorization requirements, patient eligibility and budgetary constraints within the state’s Medicaid program.

The economics of GLP-1 agents and other pharmacologic therapies for obesity remain central to policy decisions on insurance coverage. The clinical evidence of a positive benefit from these agents continues to accumulate. Perhaps this evidence will eventually tip the scales in favor of coverage and open access to more patients.

What Is Colostrum, the Ingredient at the Center of a Buzzy Wellness Trend?

0

Scroll through social media, and it won’t be long before you stumble on colostrum supplements—a buzzy nutrition trend that makes big claims and leaves us with even bigger questions. Kourtney Kardashian Barker is the latest celeb to capitalize on the craze: Her wellness brand, Lemme, has introduced a new line of colostrum gummies purported to support gut health, promote healthy digestion, manage bloating, and enhance “full-body wellness.”

Made from the milk-like substance secreted in late pregnancy and the first few days of breastfeeding, colostrum—normally only consumed by infants and other baby mammals, like calves—is being touted as a magic bullet for adults. Companies claim a wide range of health benefits, from improving your skin to regulating digestion (looking at you, Kourtney), and some even say it boosts your immunity and speeds up post-workout recovery. Sounds great, sure, but does the research follow in line? We asked nutrition, lactation, and GI experts to break it down.

What exactly is colostrum, and why are people so into it now?

If you’re stuck on the fact that colostrum is a precursor to breast milk, let’s clear something up (and hopefully put your mind at ease in the process): You’re not ingesting a human bodily fluid when you take a colostrum supplement. While mammals of all kinds (humans included) produce colostrum to meet the nutritional and developmental demands of their offspring, the stuff you see in commercial products is bovine colostrum—colostrum that comes from cows. (For clarity, however, we’ll just refer to it as “colostrum” here.) In most cases, the supplement form is sold dried or in capsules rather than as a liquid.

Compared to the milk that comes later, colostrum is thicker and more concentrated. It’s especially rich in nutrients that reduce infection risk and gut inflammation in newborns, like prebiotics, as well as enzymes and proteins with antibacterial and antiviral properties, like lysozyme and lactoferrin, Jennifer T. Smilowitz, PhD, lactation education counselor and assistant professor in the department of nutrition at the University of California, Davis, tells SELF. This isn’t an accident: At birth for both humans and cows, the gut is slightly permeable, which can increase the potential for infection and inflammation—“so colostrum fed in the first few days of life helps fortify” it, Dr. Smilowitz says.

Bovine colostrum also contains the same helpful nutrients as cow’s milk—and more, Cara Harbstreet, MS, RD, of Street Smart Nutrition, tells SELF. That includes fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and E, plus important minerals like calcium, iron, zinc, and magnesium. Some, like IGF-1, which helps bones and tissue develop normally, actually exist in higher concentrations in the colostrum.

Unlock Glowing Skin With These Tucson Beauty Treatment Secrets – Medical Grade Skincare and Sugaring Hair Removal

0

In Tucson, sun, heat, and dry air are unforgiving to your skin. Your skin requires treatments that protect, restore, and show a natural radiant glow and accommodate your lifestyle. Here, the focus is on individualized solutions that make you happy and comfortable with your skin. These Tucson beauty treatment secrets will take you to the radiant, healthy-looking complexion that you deserve.

Begin With a Customized Skin Analysis

Before any Tucson beauty treatment, it helps to understand your skin. Your first visit begins with a consultation and skin analysis. This will identify your skin type, areas of concern, whether dryness, acne, pigmentation, or fine lines, and what you wish to happen through treatment. This is your time to describe what you would like to improve and find out what can realistically make it happen.

The ideal treatment program considers lifestyle factors, including sun, hydration, stress, and diet. Doing this, all Tucson beauty treatments are customized to satisfy specific requirements, focusing on real results instead of temporary solutions.

Enzyme Therapy for Sensitive-Strength Glow

One of the most effective and soothing Tucson beauty treatments is enzyme therapy. This therapy:

  • Uses natural enzymes that exfoliate dead skin gently
  • Increases circulation and keeps cellular turnover healthy
  • Lightens pale complexions and calms redness

Ideal for sun-scarred, dry, sensitive, or acne skin, enzyme therapy is calming and gentling without irritation. It is ideal to fulfill the needs of desert skin and induces radiant health without severity.

Microneedling and Peels for More Intensive Benefits

For those who need more intense enhancements in the skin, professional peels and microneedling are excellent Tucson beauty treatments. Microneedling stimulates collagen production and may enhance the looks of fine lines and scars, as well as texture. It causes your skin to rejuvenate itself from the inside out with strengthened and more elastic skin over time.

Peels are effective in neutralizing pigmentation, sun spots, and skin coloration. Peels are carefully selected to treat your skin concerns without disrupting its natural barrier. These are an investment in the long-term health of your skin.

Hydrating Facials for Desert Skin

Sunny days and arid air dehydrate the skin, making it parched and lackluster. Hydrating facials are an ideal Tucson beauty treatment to fill in moisture and luster. The facials normally involve enzyme exfoliation, penetrating deep with moisturizing masks, and massage to stimulate blood flow.

Daily hydration treatments, even a hydrating facialcan reduce fine lines and have your skin look refreshed. Incorporating regular hydration treatments into your regimen can keep your skin soft, even in Tucson’s rough weather.

Fighting Acne With Professional Help

Acne is annoying, especially when sitting dryness and oiliness simultaneously in the weather. One Tucson beauty care plan for acne is professional facials that unplug the pores to clear out blockage while calming inflammation.

Patients are provided with enhanced protocols that facilitate healing and reduce future breakouts. Daily visits and frequent home treatment are key procedures in treating acne. If you need a Tucson acne clinic, you can find personalized guidance and trusted treatments to help guide your skin toward clarity.

Organic Sugaring: Smooth, Gentle Hair Removal

Waxing can dry out and inflame desert skin, so organic sugaring is a good Tucson beauty treatment to think about. Benefits are:

  • Natural sugar paste that sticks to hair and dead skin
  • Gentler hair removal in the direction of hair growth to minimize redness
  • Regrowth over time with less irritation

Sugaring sessions are typically recommended every three weeks, and tips are given to help keep your skin relaxed, healthy, and glowing while maintaining smooth results.

Body Enzyme Treatments for Whole-Body Treatment

Your face is not the only part of your skin that can be properly maintained. Body enzyme treatments are an effective Tucson beauty treatment solution for problems like body acne, uneven texture, or irregular tone. Our treatments have the ability to improve the appearance of your back, arms, and legs by peeling and stimulating skin rejuvenation in a gentle way.

Patients who need full care will enjoy body treatments as a valuable component of their skincare routine, especially in an environment that dehydrates the skin and leaves it unbalanced.

Advanced Anti-Aging Solutions

When you want to address fine lines, sagging, or loss of firmness, advanced anti-aging treatments can deliver a shot in the arm. Such Tucson beauty treatments may involve microneedling, enzyme treatment, and tailored facials that trigger collagen formation.

Patients usually notice tighter, smoother skin with frequent treatment. Enhancing these benefits with a recommended home care regimen can augment your glow while strengthening your skin against environmental stress.

Home Care to Augment Your Treatments

Consistency is the secret to maintaining results. On your first Tucson beauty treatment, following a home care routine helps extend the benefits of your treatments. This can be gentle cleansers, hydrating serums, and daily sun protection. High-quality products help maintain your skin between visits, keeping it clean, hydrated, and protected. Home care treatments and professionals collaborate to produce and maintain healthy, glowing skin.

Why Your Skin Needs Customized Treatments in Tucson

Tucson’s life comes with harsh sun exposure, dryness, and unforeseen weather shifts. All of these may result in dryness, sun spots, and aging if your skin is not properly maintained. A Tucson beauty routine that fits your requirements can keep your skin glowing and strong.

These treatments, like enzyme therapy, hydration facials, microneedling, and natural sugaring, complement each other well to nourish and rejuvenate your skin. These treatments are meant for people who want to have healthy skin in a potentially harmful environment.

The Role of Lifestyle in Skin Health

Tucson healthy skin is founded on a healthy lifestyle. Hydration, sun protection of your skin, stress management, and proper eating all contribute to your radiant glow. Add these lifestyle choices to regular Tucson beauty care, and your skin will be robust and resplendent.

A few simple lifestyle changes can significantly impact the appearance and health of your skin in the long term.

Conclusion

Your skin must be properly taken care of and is particular to your environment, objectives, and lifestyle. With the focus on personalized treatments and efficient home maintenance, you can have healthier, luminous skin that feels assured and at ease every day. You might require hydration, clarity, or anti-aging protection, but the right treatments can guide you through to the natural shine that lasts.

Is Accutane Worth it For Mild Acne?

0

For many, the quest for clear skin leads to considering Accutane, a powerful and often controversial treatment option that’s been used for decades to treat severe acne.

Now, while Accutane can truly be a near-miraculous solution for severe acne, is it worth considering for milder lesions?

In this article, we will delve into the intricacies of Accutane, its effects on the skin, and whether it’s a viable option for treating mild acne.

NB: I can show you how to never have acne again. If you have acne and want it goneread this message.

What is Accutane?

Accutane is a brand name for isotretinoin, a form of vitamin A used to reduce severe acne in cases of treatment resistance or relapse.

It’s an oral medication typically taken once a day for around four to six months.

How Does Accutane Work?

Accutane targets acne by reducing the size and output of the skin’s sebaceous glands, which decreases oil production and prevents the clogging of pores, thus reducing the formation of inflammatory lesions.

Additionally, Accutane helps renew the skin cells more rapidly, which clears the skin by “purging” dead and sluggish cells with newer, healthier ones.

This multi-pronged approach makes it effective, yet its power comes with a range of potential side effects, from dry skin and lips to more severe impacts on mood and liver function.

RELATED: Are Accutane Side Effects Permanent?

Considering Accutane for Mild Acne

The decision to use Accutane for mild acne is more complex, as the potential benefits must be weighed against the risks.

Here are some pros and cons to consider:

The Pros of Using Accutane for Mild Acne

Clears acne: Accutane is known for effectively clearing even the most stubborn cases of acne, making it a desirable option for those with persistent acne.

Lasting results: Unlike other treatments, Accutane can provide long-term relief from acne, with many patients experiencing a permanent improvement in their skin.

Prevents scarring: Acne scars are a common concern, but Accutane’s ability to halt new breakouts prevents further scarring and helps existing scars fade over time.

The Cons of Using Accutane for Mild Acne

Side effects: As mentioned earlier, Accutane has a range of side effects that can impact physical and mental health. These include dry skin, lips, and eyes, nosebleeds, hair loss, mood changes, and liver damage.

Strict regulations: Due to the severity of its side effects, Accutane is heavily regulated and can only be prescribed by dermatologists or physicians who have completed a specialized training program and are registered in a monitoring system.

Long treatment time: Accutane treatment typically lasts 16 to 20 weeks, with some patients requiring multiple courses. This can be a significant commitment for those with mild acne who may not have the same level of severity as those prescribed Accutane for severe cases.

Is Accutane Worth it For Mild Acne?

Discussing the potential effectiveness of Accutane treatment for mild acne concerns.

While Accutane is a highly effective acne treatment, the risks of severe side effects may outweigh the potential benefits for those with mild acne.

Taking Accutane can subject users to a spectrum of unpleasant changes that affect both physical and mental health.

The drug’s intense drying effect can lead to severely dry skin and chapped lips, which are common, with over 90% of users experiencing them.

Additionally, users may experience uncomfortable nosebleeds, joint pain that can impair daily activities, and mood swings that impact emotional well-being.

Furthermore, due to its potent nature and high risk of severe side effects, Accutane is a heavily regulated drug.

Those considering Accutane must adhere to rigorous guidelines, including monthly dermatologist visits, undergoing monthly pregnancy tests to prevent pregnancy-related risks and mandatory use of birth control throughout the treatment.

Birth control itself can cause a significant strain on the body, depleting it of essential vitamins and nutrients, which may also affect overall health and well-being, as deficiency in essential vitamins can create various health complications and even affect mental health.

Furthermore, lifestyle adjustments are often necessary while on Accutane, such as avoiding sun exposure, abstaining from alcohol, and monitoring diet closely to replenish lost vitamins and protect liver function.

Given these considerations, while Accutane is highly effective for severe acne cases, alternative treatments may be more appropriate and less strenuous on the body for those dealing with mild yet persistent acne.

Are Accutane Results Permanent?

While Accutane can deliver dramatic improvements in the severity of acne, results can vary and may not be permanent.

It’s not unusual for acne to return as soon as a few months or a year after the initial treatment.

In fact, many users have reported that although acne returned post-Accutane treatment, the condition was less severe, while others have experienced a re-emergence of acne at the same intensity or even more severe than before.

Several factors play a role in the longevity of results, including the severity of acne, compliance with treatment guidelines, and potential hormonal fluctuations that can trigger new breakouts.

Additionally, the prolonged use of cosmetics containing clogging agents or exposure to environmental pollutants can also contribute to acne re-emergence post-treatment.

While Accutane may be the most effective option for those with severe acne, it’s certainly not a one-time solution for acne-prone skin.

Therefore, it’s crucial to maintain an adequate skincare routine, healthy diet, and lifestyle habits and monitor potential triggers that may cause acne flare-ups post-treatment.

Alternative Treatments for Mild Acne

Before deciding on Accutane, exploring alternative treatments for mild acne may be worthwhile.

Some options to consider include:

Topical Treatments

Topical retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, and salicylic acid are first-line treatments that can control mild acne by preventing clogged pores, reducing inflammation, and promoting cellular turnover.

Diet and Lifestyle Changes

Dietary adjustments, such as reducing dairy and high-glycemic foods and including more antioxidants and fatty acids in your daily menu, can also help manage acne.

Additionally, lifestyle changes, such as increasing water intake, reducing stress, and getting enough sleep, can also lower the spikes of inflammatory hormones in the body and reduce the risk of acne flare-ups.

Professional Treatments

For those seeking alternatives to medication, professional treatments like light therapy and chemical peels can offer additional options for acne management.

These treatments are performed by professionals who can also assess the skin and suggest at-home maintenance options to go along with the treatments and achieve long-term results.

Are You Doing Enough to Prevent Hair Loss? — Posh Lifestyle & Beauty Blog

0

Hair loss can be a distressing experience for anyone, impacting not only physical appearance but also confidence and self-esteem. While genetics play a significant role, there are many factors you can control to maintain healthy, strong hair. This comprehensive checklist will help you determine if you’re doing enough to prevent hair loss and support optimal hair health.

Are You Eating a Balanced Diet?

Your hair’s health starts from within, and the nutrients you consume are critical to its strength and growth. A diet lacking essential vitamins and mineralssuch as biotin, zinc, and iron, can reduce hair and breakage. Incorporate foods like leafy greens, eggs, nuts, fatty fish, and berries to nourish your scalp and hair follicles.

If you’re experiencing persistent hair loss, consult a healthcare professional to rule out nutritional deficiencies. Supplements can be beneficial, but they should be taken under guidance to avoid imbalances.

Are You Using the Right Hair Care Products?

Choosing the right hair care products is essential for maintaining a healthy scalp and reducing hair damage. Avoid shampoos and conditioners that contain harsh sulfates, parabens, or alcohol, as these can strip natural oils and weaken hair strands. Opt for products tailored to your hair types and concerns, such as moisturizing shampoos for dry hair or volumizing products for thinning hair.

Incorporating a scalp exfoliator or detox shampoo once a week can also help remove buildup and promote healthy hair growth. However, be mindful not to overuse these products, as excessive cleaning can disrupt your scalp’s natural balance.

Are You Protecting Your Hair from Physical Damage?

Physical damage is a leading cause of hair loss and breakage. Over-styling, excessive heat, and harsh brushing can weaken the hair shaft and lead to thinning. Use heat tools sparingly, and always apply a heat protectant before styling. Use high quality reign hair extensions.

Choose a wide-tooth comb or a brush with soft bristles to avoid tugging on knots. If you frequently tie your hair back, switch to loose styles or hair ties made from gentle materials to prevent tension on the hairline.

Are You Managing Stress Effectively?

Stress is a common yet often overlooked cause of hair loss. High stress levels can lead to conditions like telogen effluviumwhere hair prematurely enters the shedding phase. Regular exercise, meditation, and adequate sleep effectively reduce stress levels and support hair health.

If stress-related hair loss persists, consider speaking to a therapist or a medical professional for personalized solutions. Addressing the root cause of your stress can improve your mental health and hair condition.

Are You Seeking Professional Help When Needed?

Sometimes, despite your best efforts, hair loss may require professional intervention. Visiting a reputable clinic like Serene Radiance can provide you with expert guidance and advanced treatment options. Hair transplants are popular for individuals experiencing significant hair thinning or bald patches.

Clinics like Serene Radiance combine cutting-edge technology with personalized care to help you restore your hairline and confidence. Consulting with an experienced physician can help you understand the underlying causes of your hair loss and allow you to explore a range of tailored treatments, including non-surgical options like PRP therapy or Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).

Are You Addressing Hormonal Imbalances?

Hormonal changes can lead to hair thinning and shedding, especially in women. Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or menopause can disrupt the hormonal balance, affecting hair growth.

For men, an increase in dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels is a common cause of male pattern baldness. If you suspect hormones play a role in your hair loss, consult an endocrinologist or dermatologist. Prescription medications, lifestyle changes, or hormone replacement therapies may help restore balance and improve hair density.

Are You Avoiding Harmful Lifestyle Habits?

Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can negatively impact your hair health. Smoking reduces blood flow to the scalp, depriving hair follicles of essential nutrients, while alcohol can lead to dehydration and nutrient deficiencies.

Making healthy lifestyle choices, such as quitting smoking and limiting alcohol intake, benefits overall health and creates an optimal environment for hair growth.

Bryson City – Lindsey Regan Thorne

0

Recapping our weekend getaway to Bryson City… which has been on my Christmastime bucket-list for some time now! Bryson City is a hidden gem located in the Great Smokey Mountains – about a 3 hour car ride from Charlotte, NC. I’ve heard it’s one of the most beautiful spots to explore in the spring and summer, but I was dying to experience their small Christmas town magic that I’ve heard all about over the years. We promised Henry another trip to Bryson City during the warmer months so he can fish in the streams and even do an excursion.

Bryson City is covered head to toe in Christmas magic and every-time we walked out of our Aloft (where we stayed right on the main street) I felt like I was walking onto a Halmark movie set. Old town, Christmas magic feel. We walked everywhere with the exception of the one evening when we ventured off to Darnell Farms. Everything else was on foot – exploring the charm of Bryson City.

We arrived on Friday afternoon and got settled into Alot in the Smokies – we loved staying on the main street and our loft was spacious, warm and cozy with two bedrooms & bathrooms, large kitchen & dining area, living room and lots of room for Oli to perform all of her tumbling tricks.

We spent the daytime hours on Friday & Saturday shopping, visiting the Railroad Museum, Holiday Market, The Yard (for ice skating!) and popping in and out of restaurants/ food trucks for a quick bite and drink. We loved our lunch from Food Truck at Bryson City Outdoors – the wine slushie was so good! We had breakfast at La Dolce Vita both days (LOVED their speciality coffees!) For dinner we ate at Anthony’s Pizza and Pasqualino’s Italian Restaurant.

Some of the shops we loved: Humanite Boutique, Madison’s On Main, Chocolate Shoppe, Uncle
Bunky’s Christmas Cottage, Loose Moose and more!

One evening we got in the car and ventured to Darnell Farms (5 minutes down the road from main street) it’s a Christmas farm that lit up from head to toe in all the lights! The kids loved the winter wonderland hayride, playgrounds and hot cocoa! There are vendors set up for a little shopping and some festive food (like pies, jams, etc!)

Here’s a deeper dive into what we saw, where we ate and the amazing place we stayed!

Alot in the Smokies

Absolutely LOVED where we stayed right off of the main street! Aloft in the Smokies has 5 lofts available for rent located directly on Everett Street in Bryson City (the heart of it all!) Our loft was spacious and super cozy! Two bedrooms & bathrooms, roomy kitchen, dining and living room!

Polar Express

The kiddos had a blast dancing, singing and sipping hot cocoa! Prior to going on the Polar Express we ate dinner at Anthony’s, walked around and then went back to Alot in the Smokies to change into our matching jammies and then walked down to board the Polar Expres!

Railroad Museum – the kiddos had a blast walking through the railroad museum.

The Yard

This was a highlight! During the holiday and winter season, The Yard is transformed into a synthetic ice rink with food truck, and a full-time bar with snacks.

Bryson City cute little elf’s around downtown!

We loved the random food trucks around Bryson City!

Cute little finds in shops!

Anthony’s Pizza – the best pizza!

I loved this boutique! Humanite Boutique!

The main street of Bryson City is so magical this time of year!

Darnell Farms

A 5 minutes down the road from main street! It’s a Christmas farm that lit up from head to toe in all the lights! The kids loved the winter wonderland hayride, playgrounds and hot cocoa! There are vendors set up for a little shopping and some festive food (like pies, jams, etc!) The hayride had music and a light show! So much fun!

How To Reverse Grey Hair, Naturally

0

I started looking into this topic last year when I started getting my first greys at 41 or so. As much as I want to embrace aging naturally, I am still not there 100%, shoot, I am not even there 80%. I just think colored hair is so pigmented and pretty which is something I have to work through as I prepare to accept that I, in the next few years, will naturally have a full head of grey hair! I think the hardest part is that transition phase… when you know it’s coming and you want to embrace it but… not quite yet, so, what’s a girl or guy to do!? Well, luckily for anyone in the same boat, we have some options and the best part is, they are natural! Keep reading to see what I have learned on this topic!

Why Does Hair Grey?

We know that as we age, hair turns grey but why exactly does it happen?! Well, inside each hair follicle lives pigment-making cells called melanocytes. These tiny cells produce melanin, the pigment that gives hair its color. Over time, oxidative stress, an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants, can damage melanocytes and reduce their ability to make pigment. Several studies show that this process accelerates when the body is low in certain key nutrients, particularly copper, zincand vitamin B12 because all three play essential roles in melanin production and follicle health. You will want to remember this for later!

In a 2022 case-control study of children and teens, researchers found that those with premature greying had significantly lower zinc and vitamin B12 levels than those without grey hair (P < 0.01). Another clinical study observed that people with early greying were far more likely to have deficiencies in copper, zinc, iron, magnesium, and B12, compared with healthy controls. One of the most fascinating findings comes from medical case reports showing that when vitamin B12 deficiency was corrected, some individuals experienced repigmentation which means their natural hair color actually returned like what?!

Copper in particular plays a BIG role as it’s required for the enzyme tyrosinase, which is responsible for converting the amino acid tyrosine into melanin. Low copper levels mean tyrosinase can’t function properly so pigment simply isn’t made. Zinc, on the other hand, supports protein and DNA synthesis, helping repair and regenerate the follicle cells that produce melanin. And B12 ensures that rapidly dividing cells in the follicle have the energy and resources they need to stay healthy. Together, these nutrients form the biological foundation for strong, vibrant, naturally pigmented hair!

How To Support Healthy + Pigmented Hair

I have known for a while now that these supplements were critical for trying to reverse grey hair, the problem was, I could not find any brands I trusted enough to 1. Use myself and 2. To sell to you, that is, until now! Meet FREE! This new brand was created to provide these powerhouse nutrients in their most natural, bioavailable form. Instead of using synthetic zinc, this formula combines freeze-dried New Zealand Crassostrea gigas oysters with a small amount of zinc glycinate, delivering a rich matrix of zinc, copper, and B12 just as they occur in nature. Because these minerals are balanced within the oyster’s natural ecosystem, the body recognizes and absorbs them more efficiently than isolated synthetics.

This matters because balance is super important… too much zinc without copper can deplete the very mineral your hair needs to make melanin. FRTIL’s whole-food Zinc blend keeps that harmony intact, helping to restore the building blocks your follicles crave. Over time, supplying these nutrients may help support the melanin pathway, reduce oxidative stress, and, in some cases, even slow or subtly reverse the greying process, especially when deficiency is part of the cause.

So, do you want to see if you can reverse your grey hair? Perhaps it is from deficiencies and we can reverse that premature greying!? Try the FRTIL Oyster blend here! Simply take 3 capsules a day with or without food and let it work it’s magic, plus, you don’t have much to lose as there are SO many amazing benefits to taking a quality Zinc supplement.

Besides B12Copper and Zinc, you will also want to take IronCalcium and Magnesium to ensure your levels are sufficient and not causing issues there as well. It’s great that the FRTIL Zinc tackles 4 in 1! The FRTIL only contains 42% of your daily B12 need so you can always add in my favorite B12 in addition.

What Else Zinc Supports?

The beauty of FRTIL Oyster (Zn) goes farrr beyond hair color. Zinc and copper are crucial for collagen formation, helping skin stay firm and elastic, while B12 supports cellular energy and DNA repair for smoother, more radiant skin. These same nutrients fuel healthy hair growth, boost the immune system, and keep metabolism, fertility, and cognitive function running at their best. Even your bone strength, blood-sugar balance, and taste and smell depend on them! So, this is a no brainer supplement to be adding to your routine regardless!

Zinc And Fertility?

Fertility might not be the first thing you think of when you hear about zinc, copper, and B12, but these three nutrients play a huge role in reproductive health for both men and women. Zinc is often called the “fertility mineral” because it regulates hormones, supports egg and sperm development, and is essential for DNA synthesis during early embryo formation. In women, zinc helps balance estrogen and progesterone, supports healthy ovulation, and prepares the uterine lining for implantation. In men, it boosts testosterone levels, improves sperm count and motility, and protects sperm from oxidative damage.

Copper, in the right balance, assists with iron absorption and collagen formation, keeping reproductive tissues strong and oxygenated while also supporting the neurotransmitters that influence hormones and libido. Meanwhile, vitamin B12 is critical for DNA and red blood cell production, processes that power cell renewal, energy, and fertility itself. Low B12 levels have been linked to ovulation issues, early pregnancy loss, and sperm abnormalities, while restoring healthy levels can improve reproductive outcomes.

Together, these nutrients support the body’s natural ability to conceive and sustain healthy pregnancies, all while promoting cellular vitality and energy. Because FRTIL Oyster (Zn) delivers zinc, copper, and B12 in a natural, bioavailable balance, it nourishes both the beauty you see, like glowing skin and healthy hair, and the deeper systems that sustain life itself. For me, as I enter perimenopause especially, this supplement will be critical to my overall health and wellbeing!

Overall, Zinc is a critical nutrient that we all need to stay our healthiest and best selves and now, thanks to FRTIL we have a clean option! Think of this as a simple, pure way to nourish yourself from within, supporting your natural pigment, glowing skin, clear mind, and graceful aging, all through minerals your body already knows how to use! We love it.

CC Curl: The Go-To, Most Popular Curl

CC Curl is the most popular and versatile lash curl, making it the go-to choice for many lash artists. It offers more lift than C Curl but isn’t as dramatic as D Curl, making it an ideal middle-ground curl that works for a variety of clients. China Glaze Trolls World Tour Collection Swatches & Review

Press Sample

Can’t fight the feeling (to do Troll hair nails, obviously)! Trolls World Tour, the sequel to the super fun hit that gave us that earworm from Justin Timberlake, is almost here! In just a few short weeks, we can see the latest in the Trolls family of movies featuring huge stars like Justin Timberlake, Ozzy Osbourne, and one of my personal favorites, James Corden! To celebrate the release of the new movie, China Glaze released their Trolls World Tour inspired collection, which is full of fun brights and just a touch of sparkle! These arrived yesterday evening, and I wanted to show them to you as soon as possible, so read on for swatches!!

China Glaze Funky Beat

Vibrant purple creme

A show-stopping bright purple that is designed to catch eyes! The name of this one is different on the Sally Beauty website (which is where the above link heads to, but I checked on the China Glaze website and it’s correct here!)

Opacity scale (1-5): 3

Finish: creme, 2 coats to be opaque

China Glaze Pink-In-Poppy

Sparkling bright poppy pink

Um, how freaking sparkly and cute is this?! I can definitely guess exactly which troll this is inspired by! Can you!? Shown above without topcoat.

Opacity scale (1-5): 2.5

Finish: Glitter, 2 coats to be opaque

China Glaze No-Holds Barb

Ultra vibrant coral-red jelly

With just a touch of neon, and a hint of coral, this bright red jelly is a fantastic spring color- and a red I’d actually wear!

Opacity scale (1-5): 2.5

Finish: Jelly, 2-3 coats to be opaque

China Glaze Delta Darlin’

Pastel, but bright orange creme

I can’t wait to do a gradient with Funky Beat, No-Holds Barb and this! This one did require 3 coats, despite being a pigmented creme, I had some slight issues with streaking, but not bad at all.

Opacity scale (1-5): 2.25

Finish: Creme, 2-3 coats to be opaque

China Glaze It’s All Techno

Vivid chartreuse creme

This one was hard to photograph correctly! It’s another great springy color- a bright yellowy green that is going to be fantastic for nail art! This one also bears a different name on Sally Beauty, but again, I checked the China Glaze website, and the above name is correct!

Opacity scale (1-5): 2.25

Finish: Creme, 2-3 coats to be opaque

China Glaze Can’t Stop Branchin’

Satin medium turquoise creme

When I first saw this one, it gave me serious For Audrey vibes, but when I dug up my bottle for comparison, I saw that, while similar, they are different! This polish definitely has more of a green tone to it when compared to For Audrey which is a much cooler turquoise. Both are gorgeous, and both are needed – especially since this polish is a satin finish!

Opacity scale (1-5): 2.5

Finish: Satin, 2 coats to be opaque

China Glaze Chill in Symphonyville

Semi-sheer sky blue matte with iridescent purple/blue shimmer

I LOVE this one! It’s so pretty and springy and delicate, I think it might be my favorite of the collection, though I do really love all the others, too!

Opacity scale (1-5): 2

Finish: Matte, 3+ coats to be opaque

Densely packed silver holo glitter

This is like Fairy dust on crack! It’s so densely packed with glitter (and with some additional bigger glitter than Fairy Dust), it only takes two coats to be opaque. This also means that it’s a topcoat eater, but oh man, isn’t it worth it?!?!?

Opacity scale (1-5): 3

Finish: Glitter, 2 coats to be opaque

What do you think? Are you happy to see a Spring collection that is more than just pastels? I love these brights, and it makes me SO ready for the upcoming season, and I need to check out the new movie! I wonder if there will be another song that sticks in your head forever that you absolutely can’t help but dance to. I curse Justin Timberlake for that song! haha!!

Tell me your favorite polishes for this collection in the comments!
