Do you think you’re doing everything right in your business but still can’t attract the right clients? I hate to break it to you, but you might be repelling them without realizing it! In this blog, I will share how you secretly repel clients and how to fix them.
So, what are the three ways you’re repelling clients? Let’s dive in!
Your style sucks
If you’re a stylist, your style speaks volumes about your business. And if your style sucks, you’re sending the wrong message to potential clients. Take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself if your dress is attracting or repelling clients. If it’s the latter, it’s time for a makeover. Your style should be a magnet for the clients you want to serve.
Your frequency is low
Believe it or not, your energy and frequency can repel clients. If you have low energy or frequency, you could be turning away potential clients without realizing it. You need to be the energy you want to attract. Take a good look at yourself and ensure you’re putting out positive and high vibrations to attract the right people.
You’re not ready
Sometimes, you’re repelling clients because you’re not ready to serve them. You need to have the right infrastructure, systems, and knowledge in place to handle high-paying clients. If you’re struggling to attract clients, take a step back and ask yourself if you’re truly ready to serve them.
To recap, your style, frequency, and readiness are how you secretly repel clients. Take a good look at yourself and your business and ensure you’re not making any of these mistakes. Fix them, and you’ll start attracting the right clients quickly.
Okay ladies, let’s be honest for a sec. Aging is a beautiful journey… until it starts showing up uninvited on your face, hair, and joints. At 48, I’ve been seeing signs of the times—fine lines, thinning hair, and skin that’s just not as plump or elastic as it used to be. And don’t even get me started on the sudden hair fall that feels more dramatic than any breakup I’ve ever had.
I’ve been down the collagen rabbit hole before—those massive fishy-smelling tablets that were impossible to swallow. You know the ones. I gave them a fair shot, but the smell, the size, and the lack of noticeable results made me quit cold turkey.
So when Revive Collagen sent me their Vegan Daily Liquid Supplement to try out, I was intrigued. Liquid? Vegan? And clinically proven to work in 4 weeks? That’s the skincare equivalent of a mic drop.
Let’s get into it…
Why Do We Even Need Collagen?
Collagen is the protein that holds us together. Literally. It makes up about 75% of our skin and is essential for maintaining firmness, hydration, and that bouncy glow we all chase.
As we hit our late 20s (rude), collagen production starts to decline, and by the time we hit our 40s, it can drop by up to 1% each year. That’s when we start noticing sagging skin, brittle nails, and weaker hair.
A 2019 double-blind clinical trial published in Nutrients found that oral collagen supplementation improved skin elasticity, hydration, and dermal collagen density in women after just four weeks (source). The format matters, too—liquid collagen is absorbed faster and more efficiently by the body compared to tablets or powders.
What Makes Revive Collagen Vegan So Special?
Revive Collagen isn’t just another pretty product. According to their website, they’ve created the world’s first clinically proven vegan collagen that mimics human type 1 collagen—the type your skin, hair, and nails love most.
Here’s the sciencey part I promised—don’t worry, I’ll keep it cute:
🌱 Key Highlights:
Biomimetic Vegan Collagen Alternative: Formulated to match the exact 21 amino acids in human type 1 collagen.
Clinically Proven: Shown to improve skin elasticity and reduce wrinkles in just 4 weeks.
Vitamin-Packed: 100% daily value of Vitamin C + 50% of essential B, D & E vitamins.
once you drink a sachet, the nutrients are absorbed through your digestive system and sent straight to your dermis (the deep layer of your skin), where it stimulates your own collagen production. No animal stuff, no guesswork.
My Experience with Vegan Revive Collagen
Each box contains a 14 or 28-day supply of ready-to-drink sachets in a raspberry flavour.
Let’s start with the taste—because we know that can make or break a daily supplement.
Spoiler alert: it’s not candy. Since it has no added sugars or fake flavoring, the taste is a bit tart with a slight bitterness. It honestly reminded me of herbal teas—strong at first, but something you grow to appreciate. Pro tip? Chill it. Keeping the sachets in the fridge made the flavor more refreshing, especially during these hot summer days.
And it’s so convenient! Each sachet is pre-measured, so no mess, no scooping, no pills. Just grab, rip, and sip—perfect for travel, too. You can even mix it with a smoothie or water if you prefer a diluted flavor.
Now here comes the exciting part…
The Results After 1 Month
After 4 weeks of taking Revive Collagen Vegan every single day, here’s what I’ve noticed:
Nails: Stronger, less breakage, and actually growing evenly!
Hair: Less shedding in the shower and brush. It feels thicker and more alive.
Skin: Hydrated, plump, and never dull. There’s a natural glow I haven’t seen in years.
Fine Lines: Still there, but my skin feels more elastic and bouncier, so makeup sits better and I feel more confident bare-faced.
Energy: This one was a surprise—I genuinely feel more alert and less fatigued by midday.
Bonus: My knee pain (yes, aging is fun) has lessened. Not gone, but significantly improved!
This isn’t just a skin-deep product—it’s nourishing from the inside out.
Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It?
Absolutely! Revive Collagen-Vegan won me over, and I’m not one to fall easily. The formulation is backed by science, the ingredients are thoughtful, and the results speak for themselves. Plus, it’s cruelty-free and vegan, which aligns beautifully with my values.
Pros:
✔️ Clinically proven formula ✔️ No pills or powders—just liquid convenience ✔️ Powerful plant-based ingredients ✔️ Visible improvements to skin, hair, and nails ✔️ Travel-friendly sachets
Cons:
❌ Taste may take some getting used to (but chilling helps!) ❌ Slightly pricey—but you’re paying for quality, clean ingredients, and real results
Would I Recommend It?
100%. Whether you’re plant-based, tired of swallowing pills, or just looking for a glow-up that starts from within, this is a solid choice. Beauty isn’t about erasing age—it’s about embracing it with grace, glow, and a little help from some modern science.
Do I feel 25 again? Not quite. But I feel amazing for 48. My skin is hydrated and glowy, my nails aren’t falling apart, and my energy is back. And for a supplement that’s clean, cruelty-free, and scientifically backed? I’m in.
Stay radiant, Dima 💖Just a woman fighting fine lines, one raspberry sachet at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does vegan collagen really work?
Yes. Revive Collagen Vegan is clinically proven to mimic human type 1 collagen using a precise combination of 21 amino acids, plus vitamins and botanicals, showing visible skin improvements in 4 weeks.
2. How is vegan collagen different from regular collagen?
Traditional collagen comes from animal sources (fish, bovine, etc.). Vegan collagen, like Revive’s, is synthesized from plant-based amino acids to replicate human collagen, making it cruelty-free and suitable for plant-based lifestyles.
3. How long does it take to see results from collagen supplements?
Most users (including me!) begin to notice changes in skin hydration and nail strength within 4-6 weeks. Full collagen rebuilding can take up to 8–12 weeks with consistent use.
4. Can I take vegan collagen with other supplements?
Yes, it’s generally safe. But since it already contains a strong mix of B, C, D, and E vitamins, make sure you’re not doubling up unnecessarily.
I reached for my Mila Moursi Refining Lotion the other night and thought: have I ever actually raved about this? Turns out, I have—over ten years ago, when the blog (and my SEO skills) were both… developing. So, here we are. Again. Why? Because to keep something in rotation for more than a decade speaks volumes. This is hands down one of the best resurfacing formulas I’ve come across. And yes, I still get excited every time I use it.
Who Is Mila Moursi?
Mila Moursi is a Los Angeles based aesthetician with a fiercely loyal celebrity clientele (Jennifer Aniston, anyone?) and a meticulously edited skincare range under her own name. I first heard of her through industry whispers and had the chance to meet her years ago at a SpaceNK event in New York. She gave me a mini facial, identified the irritated spots I’d been concealing as red skin syndrome, and politely suggested I stop overusing my Dr. Dennis Gross peel pads. She was right. That moment alone recalibrated how I think about exfoliation.
What Is the Refining Lotion?
Despite the name, this is not your everyday lotion. It’s a resurfacing treatment, an exfoliating nighttime serum in silky gel form. Powered by glycolic and lactic acids, it gently dissolves dead skin cells to address uneven texture, dullness, and early signs of discoloration. The clear gel texture includes micro-encapsulated actives and leaves behind the kind of glow that makes you check your reflection twice the next morning. Use it at night, ease in slowly, and don’t forget SPF the next day. It’s what I’d call a controlled glow-up, high performance without the post-peel drama.
What’s in It?
A serious ingredient lineup. Glycolic and lactic acids headline the formula, but it’s not all exfoliation and no care. You’ll also find glycerin, sodium PCA, and hyaluronic acid for hydration, plus allantoin and licorice root extract for calm and balance. A few botanical extracts like camellia, lemon, verbena, and wheat germ, and a soft pearlescent finish elevate the sensorial experience. It feels more like a luxury spa treatment than a clinical exfoliant, and behaves like both.
How I Use It
Nighttime only. I double cleanse, skip any acid toners or peel pads, and apply a full dropper of the Refining Lotion on dry skin. I never layer it with a retinoid — this formula does plenty on its own. That combination would be too much, even for my exfoliation-tolerant skin.
I always follow with a moisturizer, ideally something basic with no added actives, just to seal everything in. On the rare occasion I’ve skipped that step, I’ve woken up with a few dry flakes around my mouth. With a simple cream layered on top, the glow hits by morning and my skin feels balanced. After all these years, I’m still impressed by how well this formula performs. It’s one of the few I’ll never not have in rotation.
What to Layer on Top
Because the Refining Lotion is an active treatment, I always follow with a simple, supportive moisturizer. My go-to picks are formulas that cushion the skin without competing with the exfoliation.
Hello Le Balm – Basic in the best way. This fragrance-free, skin-barrier focused balm layers beautifully and won’t interfere with actives. I wrote a full review here.
Atopalm MLE Cream – A derm favorite and a dry-skin savior. The multi-lamellar emulsion mimics your skin’s natural barrier, making it ideal post-acid. My thoughts here.
Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream – If you’re going luxury, this one seals the deal. It’s rich, restorative, and plays well with treatments. You can read more here.
Each of these works as the final step in my nighttime routine when I use the Refining Lotion. No tingling, no pilling, just smooth, well-behaved skin by morning.

Spending a Tuesday morning at the Times Square Dave & Buster’s with Amy Sedaris was not on my 2025 bingo card, but I’m down for anything in the name of brain health. Sedaris recently teamed up with Centrum and Dave & Buster’s to launch Silver Hours for the over-50 crowd at select locations, stimulating the brain while having fun. In between Sedaris playing video games and being turned into a human claw machine, I chatted with her about brain health, aging and improv. Our conversation, ahead.
What are some of the biggest changes you’ve made to your beauty and wellness routine in your 60s vs 50s?
“I’ve never been one to wear a lot of makeup. When I get dressed up for events and then look at myself and I’ve got all this makeup on, I always have to remind people, ‘You know, I’m 64 years old. I don’t want to look like Tootsie. I don’t want to have a lot of makeup happening.’ You know, thinning hair is hard and seeing aging in your neck, so I always wear a little bandana, I just do little things like that.
For me, it’s more important to get up off the ground without aches, so I work out five days a week. I just made that my job. It started when I broke up with a guy, and I was like, ‘How am I ever going to go to the gym and work out?’ So I started getting a trainer in 2001, and I’ve had one since then. I have somewhere to be every day, which helps. Sometimes I make myself take the stairs to my apartment and just move and breathe. I just want to be able to feel limber.”
What are your favorite workouts?
“I do strength training three days a week at the gym and then cardio. Then I do a stretch class, which is just movement. I have a Pilates chair, and I do Pilates once a week out of my apartment. I like muscles and I like to feel strong. I have noticed I’ve gotten weaker, but I’m still a lot stronger than a lot of other people I know my age. Hanging out with younger people helps.”

When did you start thinking about brain health? Did you actually think about it when you were younger?
“To tell you the truth, no. I really don’t think about age much. But one time, I was working on a movie and it was really hot out and I had a wig on, a turtleneck, a fatty suit, a fake fur thing and I noticed my brain went completely black. I couldn’t remember anything because of the heat, and that’s when I was like, ‘Oh, what do people do when they get older?’
You start to sound like Aunt Clara on Bewitched. And you’re like, ‘I can’t believe I just forgot that.’ Then I’m like, ‘Well, what do you take for brain health? What vitamin is going to help me with that?’ I didn’t take a multivitamin. I take a lot of other vitamins, but Centrum Silver ($19) was my first multivitamin that I’ve taken. So we’ll see how it goes. I hope I remember to take them.”
What are some of the things you do for your brain health in addition to taking a multivitamin?
“I keep myself really busy and I’m really surprised when I forget something. I have a really good memory. I’m good with names and birthdays, but it is kind of shocking when all of a sudden you’re like, ‘wow, they didn’t come to me so quickly,’ because I come from an improv background, so I’m usually pretty quick, you know, you need that stuff at your fingertips, so it’s pretty shocking and scary at the same time.”
I feel like we talk about men’s brain health so much more than women’s.
“Because they don’t have a brain. Men don’t have a brain.”
Centrum discusses the effects of screen time (both good and bad) on the brain. What’s your screen time like?
“I always say I’m not on my phone that much, but I think I’m probably on it more than I think I am. I post every day. I like it. It’s like a job I give myself, but lately it’s changed so much with the algorithms and I just don’t see the people I follow anymore. So I’m on it, but it’s not good for your eyes. I just started vitamin A, but it’s also in Centum Silver and I thought that’s really good because I’ll double up on it now. I’ll grab carrots, you know, because I’m such a visual person. That’s going to be really sad when my eyesight goes because I’m very observant.
But I’m not on it that much. Brain scramblers, you know, when people play those games, I’m like, ‘Oh, this is fun,’ even though I’m not a big game player. I like games that I make up. But when I go to these places, I’ve been to Dave & Busters several times, it just makes me laugh, it just really is fun to me.”

What exciting things do you have coming up?
“Well, my godson, he’s 10 and every year we do a Halloween movie. He writes it, he directs it and everything. So this year I’m a teenager. It’s funny, my whole life, I’ve always played older people and right now, my best character, which I haven’t really put out there, is an old lady in her early hundreds, which is the first character I ever did, imitating my grandmother, so it’s weird that I’m playing a teenager. We’ll see how it goes.
I’ve been working a lot lately, whatever comes my way. A lot of times, to tell you the truth, I’ve done jobs just so I have to memorize the lines because I think that’s good exercise. Or it’s like, ‘Oh, I haven’t memorized lines in a few months, so I’ll do this.’ I always say I’m bad at it, but I’m really not, so that keeps you sharp too.”
Was changing over to learning lines hard because you came from improv?
“I think that could be it, or I just automatically told myself it was. Then I was like, ‘Well, actually, I’m not that bad at it.’ I just want to keep doing it.”
Wanting to be more social or outgoing sounds deceptively simple: Just talk to more people, say yes to every invite, and strike up friendly conversations with strangers, right? But for introverts, putting yourself out there is easier said than done.
The good news is, being introverted isn’t a fixed personality trait. “Most people aren’t full introverts or extroverts,” Amy Morin, LCSW, a psychotherapist and author of 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Dotells SELF. “They’re ambiverts, meaning they can do and enjoy both.” In other words, becoming “more extroverted” doesn’t necessarily mean changing who you are—it’s about going out of your comfort zone and finding a social rhythm that energizes rather than exhausts you. Here’s how to start.
1. Redefine “extroversion” on your own terms.
“People often assume extroverts have to be the life of the party—that they’re the funniest, loudest people in the room,” Morin says. “But this can sound unrealistic for many introverts who prefer to have less attention on themselves.”
So instead of expecting yourself to suddenly thrive in large crowds or enjoy back-to-back plans, socialize in more realistic ways. Maybe that involves grabbing lunch with a handful of coworkers instead of joining a noisy happy hour. Or joining a book club, running group, or French class—an environment where you can meet people while doing something you actually enjoy.
2. Be the one who reaches out first.
Don’t just wait for invitations to come your way—make them yourself. Part of being more extroverted, Morin says, is taking initiative rather than hanging back and letting others set the tone. Ask a friend to join you for a walk on a slow Sunday. Organize that Friendsgiving potluck instead of hoping someone else will. Every time you initiate, you get more comfortable taking social risks, and eventually, you’ll notice how often that little moment of courage pays off.
3. Don’t underestimate the power of social media.
“We’re all encouraged to network more. But for someone who’s really introverted, the idea of going to a giant event can be really daunting,” Fanny Tristan, LCSW, a psychotherapist and founder of Restority Space in New York City, tells SELF. Luckily, though, there are ways to put yourself out there without diving straight into a crowded room of strangers—and that includes starting online.
“Even emailing someone first to set up coffee chats, whether in person or over Zoom, lets you meet your goal of having conversations with more people,” Tristan says. Starting digitally gives you a chance to ease in—no small talk or awkward glances required. And remember: Just because it’s virtual doesn’t make it any less meaningful.
4. Plan ahead for when small talk runs dry.
Part of what makes putting yourself out there so nerve-wracking is the fear of awkward moments, which can happen when you’re socializing with someone new. In these situations, Morin recommends coming prepared with a few interesting, go-to topics that feel stimulating to you.
While social media (especially TikTok) is a great tool for spotting trends, they can come and go so quickly, hence why it’s called a “trend”. I prefer to rely on other sources, like information I’m hearing from my skincare labs and trusted chemists, as well as all of the conferences I attended this past year where the best and brightest skincare professionals gather to share information.
Based on what I’ve been seeing, here are six 2025 skincare trends I expect to be big. While there are some new innovations – everything always returns to the basics. Keeping the skin balanced, healthy and nourished.
Skincare Trend #1: At-Home Skin Care Devices
Gone are the days when professional results were only provided by estheticians like me. So much of the technology is now available for home use and I think it’s very, very exciting. After all, I see clients for 90 minutes, and while we can achieve a lot, to be able to recommend a home care device for them to keep the results going only improves their skincare goals.
Of course, there are a lot of questionable at-home skin care devices out there, so you have to do your research. I highly recommend the TheraFace Depuffing Wand. I used a device similar to this on my clients for years and I was devastated when they discontinued it, so I was so happy to see that this came to market. I love it for de-puffing aspects to do along with lymphatic drainage massage on the face. (Rapid Response Detox Masque makes for a great glide when applied before using the device.)
I mentioned TheraFace in this video I posted on Instagram as one of the devices I use on my client, singer Sabrina Carpenter, and the video went viral! (I also mentioned my the high-frequency device, which is tried-and-true and always works well for making breakouts go away fast.)
I’m also a huge fan of NuFace, known as microcurrent. It’s used for building facial features such as more prominent cheekbones by exercising the muscles. As mentioned in this post, I have used NuFace for years, and I also use a similar technology on my body during my workouts. Simply put, muscles get weaker as we age and it’s important to strengthen them. I love using it in my nightly routine.
Skincare Trend #2: Electrolytes – The Ultimate Hydration For Thirsty Skin Cells
I love the concept of tapping into things that are used for internal use, externally. And electrolytes for skin will be big in 2025.
Let’s talk hydration. The reality is, ALL skin types require water – not all skin types need oil. This is the difference between dry and dehydrated skin. Skin cells are like fish and need water to live so an even bigger focus in 2025 will be more innovation in skincare ingredients to get the skin to retain the water it desperately needs to stay healthy-looking and of course, oh so dewy.
A big skincare ingredient you’ll see in 2025 is electrolytes. They contain essential minerals like sodium, calcium and potassium. They’ve been a mainstay in sports drinks forever, but now they are making their way into topical products.
The main benefit of using electrolytes in skincare is hydration. Water is good for skin, but dry skin (which tends to worsen with age) struggles to retain it. Without enough oil to trap moisture, water from serums and moisturizers often evaporates quickly. Electrolytes help by using their electrical charge to draw water into deeper skin layers, preventing evaporation. They also balance water content, keeping skin plump, fresh, and dewy without overloading it.
I’m working on a skincare formula that contains electrolytes and the results are really incredible for delivering water to thirsty skin cells. Stay tuned!
Skincare Trend #3: A More Simple, Multi-Tasking Skincare Routine
Skincare is a huge industry and shows no signs of slowing down but I have to say, the 10-step routines have gotten a little out of control. For example, using multiple serums layering one over one another is not only time-consuming and costly, but it’s not even that effective.
The reality is that your skin can only absorb so much, so I stick to the belief that you should just use one serum at a time. Plus, this approach not only saves time and money but also reduces the risk of irritation from overloading the skin with too many active ingredients.
I’m seeing that people are exhausted with the thought of having to use so many products so a simpler routine with just a few products is what people are looking for. The good news is that so many products can multitask.
For example, why use sunscreen AND a separate moisturizer? How about just finding one that can do both? My Weightless Protection SPF 30 does just that. Or how about a masque that you can sleep in overnight? Yep, that’s my award-winning Rest Day Masque.
A four-step routine, used morning and night, includes:
Wash with a gentle cleanser (always following my Golden Minute Rule)
Follow with a toner (here are five benefits from a toner)
Serum (day is always vitamin C, and at night, you can alternate your serums in the evenings with either retinol, a leave-on acid exfoliant, or something for hydrating and delivering nourishing benefits)
Moisturizer (during the day, it’s always sunscreen, and at night, choose the best moisturizer for your skin type)
Ex: Simple morning Action Plan for Skin Type 7
For extra credit, a lightweight eye gel or nourishing cream can be used morning and night then weekly, perform an at-home facial.
These steps are tried-and-true and will absolutely maintain the health and integrity of your skin. Quality over quantity. Always.
Skincare Trend #4: Exosomes – A Bio-Tech Skincare Ingredient
At the Science of Skincare Summit (a dermatology conference that I was a co-chair of), there was a lot of talk about the term “biotech ingredients” and they are set to play a crucial role in the future of skincare. Specifically, there was a lot of chatter around exosomes for skin care treatment.
Exosomes are derived from stem cells, with the most common sources being fat stem cells and umbilical stem cells, though there are other types. They are microscopic vesicles naturally produced by cells that serve as messengers to facilitate cell communication and regeneration. The purpose of these are to rejuvenate the skin to repair itself as they harness the body’s own cellular processes to enhance skin health.
Since cosmetic procedures like radiofrequency microneedling and laser treatments are so popular to stimulate cellular repair (by intentionally damaging the skin’s outer layers), the thought is that when exosomes are applied topically after these procedures, they can help support the repair processes, which in turn enhances the treatment to improve results – and lessens the redness and swelling that occurs.
We’ll see continued advancements in science to find ways to keep the skin looking younger, longer.
Skincare Trend #5: Making Skincare Playful
Who says skincare has to be so serious? TikTok skincare trends continue to show us that people love to have fun doing their skincare routines and love filming content about it. (Yes, this is where all of those 10-step routines come in!) Especially with the rise of the at-home skincare devices (with LED being a big one), people are using their devices paired with masques, serums and oils to give their skin the ultimate self-care treatments at home.
One way to play (with no worry of harming your skin) is toner ice cubes. There’s no rule that says toners have to be used in their liquid form, so how about freezing them to give additional skin benefits like de-puffing? Moisture Infusion Toner is perfect for this.
Read how to make toner ice cubes at home.
Skincare Trend #6: Turning Your Passion for Skincare into a Career – Become an Esthetician!
The rise of the esthetician. Yes, it’s happening in a big way. In fact, Allure calls the esthetician the new “IT” profession.” When I started in 1988, there were only a handful of us. Fast forward to 2025, and more people than ever are turning their passions into a career. As the saying goes, “find something you are passionate about and find a way to make a living doing it.”
I absolutely love seeing our profession being brought to the forefront and skincare enthusiasts are expanding into all areas of skincare – sales trainers, supporting dermatologists in their practices, instructors and more, and of course, having our own solo practices. We love improving lives through skincare, and it’s truly incredible to see how many people are entering this amazing profession.
2025 Skincare Trends – It’s Going to Be a Great Year for Skin!
While there are so many exciting things always on the horizon, these are some trends that are particularly exciting for me in 2025.
But let me leave you with this final thought: as much as it seems like there is a lot of innovation in skincare, the basic principles will always stand the test of time.
Wash your makeup off at night.
Wear sunscreen 365 days a year – even indoors since UV light comes through windows.
Keep a consistent morning and evening routine.
Use good quality products.
Learn about your unique skin’s needs and always use products for your skin type.

Determining your skin type is crucial for selecting the right skincare products and creating an effective skincare routine. Understanding your skin’s unique needs can help you choose products and treatments that enhance your skin’s health and appearance. The five main skin types are normal, oily, dry, combination, and sensitive, each requiring a specific approach to care.
Normal skin is well-balanced, with no excessive dryness or oiliness. It has a smooth texture, small pores, and an even tone. People with normal skin rarely experience sensitivity or breakouts. In contrast, oily skin produces excess sebum, leading to a shiny appearance, particularly in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin). This skin type is prone to enlarged pores, blackheads, and acne.
Dry skin lacks sufficient moisture and natural oils. It often feels tight, rough, and may appear flaky or dull. Dry skin can be sensitive and prone to irritation and redness. Combination skin features both oily and dry areas. Typically, the T-zone is oily while the cheeks and other areas are dry or normal. This type requires a balanced skincare approach to address both concerns. Sensitive skin is prone to reactions such as redness, itching, burning, and dryness. It can be triggered by skincare products, environmental factors, or certain foods.
To accurately determine your skin type, start by cleansing your face with a gentle cleanser and pat it dry. Avoid applying any products afterward to ensure you can observe your skin in its natural state. Wait for about an hour and then assess how your skin feels. This period allows your skin to return to its natural state without external influences. Gently press a blotting sheet on different areas of your face, such as the forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks. Hold the sheet up to the light to see how much oil is visible. For normal skin, there will be little to no oil on the blotting sheet. Oily skin will show significant oil on the blotting sheet, particularly from the T-zone. Dry skin will have no oil on the blotting sheet, and the skin may feel tight. Combination skin will show oil on the blotting sheet from the T-zone but not from other areas. Sensitive skin may not be determined solely by oil presence, but you should look for signs of redness, irritation, or reactions to the blotting sheet. Gently touch different areas of your face to assess texture and firmness. Normal skin will feel smooth and supple, oily skin greasy or slightly sticky, dry skin rough or flaky, and combination skin will vary between areas. Sensitive skin may feel rough, dry, or reactive.
Once you have identified your skin type, you can choose products and routines that suit your specific needs. Normal skin benefits from gentle cleansers, lightweight moisturizers, and regular exfoliation. Oily skin needs oil-free, non-comedogenic products and ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to control oil and prevent breakouts. Dry skin requires hydrating cleansers, rich moisturizers, and products containing hyaluronic acid and glycerin. Combination skin should use gentle, balancing products and target specific areas with appropriate treatments, such as mattifying products for the T-zone and hydrating products for dry areas. Sensitive skin requires hypoallergenic, fragrance-free products and should avoid harsh ingredients, favoring calming and soothing ingredients like aloe vera and chamomile.

After several months of weakened momentum, The Estée Lauder Companies reported stronger-than-expected sales for the first quarter of its fiscal year.
Sales for the period from July to September 2025 reached USD3.48 billion, representing a 4% rise from the prior year, the company said in a statement on Thursday, October 30. This figure surpassed analysts’ estimates of USD3.38 billion.
Perfumes drive growth
Fragrance net sales rose 14% year over year, driven by Tom Ford innovations — including the launches of Travel Oud and Black Orchid Reservefronted by Tilda Swinton — as well as strong performance from Jo Malone London’s colognes.
Skincare net sales increased 3%, whereas makeup sales declined 1% and haircare sales were down 7%.
Restart in China?
The company, which owns Clinique, The Ordinary, Kilian Paris, and M·A·C, had struggled in recent quarters amid weak consumer spending, especially in China. On this latter front, the group is seeing improvement.
In the first quarter of its fiscal year, The Estée Lauder Companies reported an 9% increase in sales in China compared to the same period last year, driven in part by strong performances from La Mer, Le Labo, and Tom Ford.
“Growth in Mainland China, primarily driven by innovation and existing products,” as well as “targeted expanded consumer reach” the company stated.
Furthermore, travel retail sales “showed an improvement over last year’s unfavorable trend,” said the company’s CEO, Stephne of the Faverieduring a call with investors.
Outlook
The group had also announced a restructuring plan in February, the final cost of which is expected to be between USD1.2 and USD1.6 billion before taxes. It also planned to eliminate 5,800 to 7,000 positions by the end of 2026.
“We had a strong start to fiscal 2026 (…), gaining prestige beauty share in a few key strategic areas of focus, and improving profitability,” highlighted from La Faverie. “These results reinforce the confidence we have in our fiscal 2026 outlook—a pivotal year—as we restore organic sales growth and expand our operating margin for the first time in four years,” he added.
For fiscal 2026, Estée Lauder continues to forecast a 2% to 5% increase in net profit per share. The company also warned that new trade tariffs could reduce future earnings by nearly USD100 million, but said it is closely monitoring trade policy changes and implementing measures to mitigate potential impacts.
“The Company has implemented a range of actions,” including “further optimizing its regional manufacturing footprint to bring production closer to the consumer,” the group added.
