3 Best Ingredients for Dark Spots

0

Trying to treat dark spots and hyperpigmentation on the face can be overwhelming. With all the products on the market claiming to be your holy grail magic hyperpigmentation solution, it’s hard to know where to start. Thankfully, there are ingredients that have been proven to be effective for helping to reduce uneven skin tone.

Our Skin Care Experts have carefully chosen a list of ingredients to treat dark spots and hyperpigmentation, as well as tips and tricks to incorporate them into your routine. Following these instructions can lead to brighter, more even skin and a gorgeous glow.

What Causes Dark Spots?

Dark spots are a common skin condition, but many people don’t know what actually causes them. Commonly referred to as age spots, dark spots can form on the face and body due to various factors.

  • Sun Damage: the most common cause of dark spots, too much sun causes the skin to produce too much melanin (the pigment responsible for skin color). Excess melanin can form into dark patches and is commonly referred to as hyper pigmentation.
  • Genetics: some people are genetically predisposed to hyper pigmentation since genetic variations can affect the production and distribution of melanin
  • Hormones: your skin contains both estrogen and progesterone receptors in the dermis and epidermis layers. During your menstrual cycle or menopause when those hormones in your body are fluctuating, you may experience changes in skin pigmentation
  • Inflammation: Similarly to the other causes of hyperpigmentation, inflammation can be a culprit because of the production of excess melanin as your skin’s response to injuries (aka acne)
  • Poor diet: deficiencies in certain vitamins and minerals like vitamin C, E and zinc can weaken the skin’s natural defenses

No matter what the cause, dark spots can be annoying and may even make you feel self-conscious.

What are the Best Ingredients to Treat Dark Spots?

1) Vitamin C

We’re sure you’ve heard of this holy grail ingredient used for several skin concerns and its ability to fade fine lines and wrinkles, but vitamin C has also been shown to be one of the best ingredients to fade dark spots and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Several studies have been conducted to show the benefits of using a topical vitamin c as dark spot corrector, showing that topical vitamin c aids in skin cell turnover and improves the appearance of hyperpigmentation dark spots.

Our Vitamin C and Retinol Serum is clinically proven to improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and it can also help fade dark spots. After just a week of use, 90% of users said their skin looked brighter. It’s a great way to help protect your skin from environmental damage– think UV exposure and pollution– which can be a huge culprit of hyperpigmentation.

2) Glycolic Acid

Glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), helps to exfoliate and penetrate deep into your pores to dissolve the top layers of dead skin cells, which over time, can help fade dark spots and reduce the appearance of blemishes.

This powerhouse ingredient also stimulates cell turnover and helps improve discoloration and skin texture. By regularly applying products that contain glycolic acid, dark spots can fade away leaving behind smooth, clear skin.

Adding glycolic acid into your skin care routine can significantly help reduce the appearance of dark spots. Our glycolic acid peel pads contain 10% glycolic acid to help fight against dark spots along with aloe vera and cucumber extract to soothe and nourish skin.

If you have a sensitive skin type and need a product that won’t irritate your skin, opt for a product with a lower potency of glycolic acid like our liquid exfoliator. Clinically tested and safe for sensitive skin, our liquid exfoliator contains 2% glycolic acid, alongside lactic acid, salicylic acid, and fruit enzymes to help exfoliate your skin without irritation.

3) Niacinamide

There are several benefits of niacinamide in skincare products, with its ability to tone and fade dark spots being one of the common benefits. The reason why it is so effective in skin lightening is that it blocks melanin production in the skin, which therefore prevents the formation of further dark spots and evening out any existing ones.

It can also help increase ceramides, an essential part of our skin’s barrier, making it an ideal ingredient for mature or sensitive skin. Niacinamide helps reduce inflammation and sebum production, which can prevent future discoloration from occurring. If you’re looking for a natural way to reduce dark spots, Niacinamide is one of the best dark spot ingredients to try.

Other ways to reduce dark spots

In addition to the best ingredients to fade dark spots, there are some other natural and effective ways to reduce their appearance:

  • Exfoliate regularly: use a gentle scrub with natural ingredients like oatmeal or jojoba oil to help naturally remove the dead skin cells.
  • Try a facial mask: look for masks with anti-inflammatory ingredients like turmeric and honey, rich with antibacterial properties to help fight against bacteria
  • Use sunscreen daily: Prolonged sun exposure is one of the main culprits of hyperpigmentation, so be sure to protect your skin from UV rays everyday (yes- even when its cloudy)

The road to treating hyperpigmentation can be long and complicated, but incorporating some of these key ingredients and tips into your skincare routine can lead you on the right track.

Your Black Friday & Cyber Monday FAQs, Answered:

What is Black Friday & Cyber Monday?

Black Friday is the biggest shopping event of the year — the day retailers across the UK (and pretty much everywhere else) roll out some of their biggest discounts on everything from beauty and fashion to tech and homeware. It officially falls on Friday 28 November this year, but most brands kick things off early with pre-Black Friday deals that drop weeks ahead (hence why we know call it Black Friday month). In short, it’s the perfect time to tick off your Christmas list – or finally treat yourself to that item that’s been sitting in your basket for way too long. Cyber Monday is the Monday that follows Black Friday, so this year it’s today (the 1st December 2025) and is your last chance to shop the discounts.

When is Black Friday & Cyber Monday 2025?

Black Friday took place on Friday 28th November 2025, with Cyber Monday following today on 1st December. But in true beauty-world fashion, the deals have already started dropping – most retailers now kick things off in early November.

Do you really get better deals on Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

In short — sometimes. There are definitely genuine savings to be had (last year Dyson knocked £80 off the Airwrap, Boots ran its biggest-ever Black Friday event, with over 22,000 deals across beauty and electricals and Simba had up to 25% off selected mattresses, pillows, and duvets. But, not every ‘deal’ is quite as good as it looks. Some brands quietly raise prices beforehand to make discounts seem bigger, so it pays to do a little homework. Keep an eye on what you actually want, compare prices before the sales hit, and stick to your wishlist so you don’t get too overwhelmed.

What is the difference between Black Friday and Cyber Monday?

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are basically two halves of the same shopping event. Black Friday lands first — this year on Friday 28 November 2025 — with huge deals across beauty, fashion, tech and more. Then comes Cyber Monday on 1 December 2025, which was once all about online-only offers but now tends to wrap up the entire sale weekend. In short: Black Friday starts the chaos, Cyber Monday finishes it – and it’s a great final chance to bag those products that have been sitting in your basket before prices bounce back.

Why you can trust us at Glamour:

Between us, the Glamour Commerce team has spent more than a decade covering Black Friday and Cyber Monday — so when it comes to spotting a genuinely good deal, we know our stuff. We spend our time testing, reviewing and shopping (for research purposes, obviously), so by the time November rolls around, we’ve already tried and compared most of what’s out there.

When reviewing products — this includes TikTok-acclaimed beauty gifts, new-in fashion, and seriously aesthetic homeware — we consider them all against the following criteria:

Design Is it practical, fit for purpose and aesthetic?
Price point Would I be willing to spend that much? Is it good quality?
Delivery How quickly did it arrive, and what were the associated costs?
Giftability Would this make a suitable birthday or Christmas gift? Is it something the recipient actually wants, needs and would enjoy?

Essentially, we know which brands are worth the hype, which ‘savings’ aren’t really savings at all, and which deals are genuinely worth adding to your basket before they sell out. From beauty and fashion to mattresses and sex toys, we’ve done the digging, testing and scrolling so you don’t have to. Just thank us later when your baskets are full.

The Real Reason Your Hair Is Thinning—And What To Do About It

0

You’re not imagining it. Your ponytail is skinnier, your part does look wider, and yes, all those strands on your pillow are new. If you’ve noticed your hair thinning lately, take a deep breath: you’re not alone. And more importantly, it’s not the end of your hair story.

Hair thinning is more common than we talk about. It doesn’t only happen post-pregnancy or in menopause, it can sneak up in your 20s and 30s, too, especially when life gets busy, stressful, or hormonal (so, basically…almost always).

While it can be emotionally frustrating, the good news is that there are gentle, effective ways to bring your hair back to life without making things worse in the process—starting with better scalp health and smarter support from within.

Let’s talk about the why, the what now, and the real-life solutions that won’t make your scalp cry for help.

What Are the Common Causes of Hair Thinning?

Hair doesn’t just thin overnight. Usually, it’s the result of something happening beneath the surface, physically or emotionally. Here are five of the most common culprits:

1. Hormonal Shifts

Your hormones are basically the puppet masters of your hair cycle. Changes due to pregnancy, birth control, PCOS, thyroid issues, or menopause can all disrupt your hair’s natural growth rhythm, leading to thinning or increased shedding.

2. Stress

Chronic stress isn’t just draining, it can literally push your hair into the “fall out” phase. Telogen effluvium, the fancy name for stress-related shedding, is often delayed by a few months, which makes it sneaky. You might not connect the dots until you’re three months past burnout and wondering where your fringe went.

3. Nutritional Deficiencies

Hair needs fuel. If your diet’s low in protein, iron, zinc, or certain B vitamins, your strands might start checking out early. And if you’re constantly in a major calorie deficit (hello, diet culture), your hair will be one of the first things to suffer.

4. Overstyling and Chemical Damage

Heat tools, tight ponytails, bleach jobs, and tension from extensions—your hair remembers all of it. Constant mechanical and chemical stress weakens the strand at the root, which can cause breakage and thinning over time.

5. Genetics

Sometimes it runs in the family. Female pattern hair loss affects many women as they age, especially around the crown and temples. But genetics don’t mean game over, it just means you need a hair strategy that works with your biology, not against it.

What Are the Best Solutions for Hair Loss?

Now that you know what’s probably causing the thinning, let’s get into what you can actually do about it. Spoiler alert: this isn’t about chasing miracle serums or hiding under hats. It’s about working with your body, being kind to your scalp, and choosing smart, sustainable habits that support your hair health long-term.

Rethink Your Hair Extensions

We get it, sometimes you just want your volume now. But not all hair extensions are created equal. Clip-ins, tape-ins, weaves, and keratin bonds all attach directly to your fragile strands, adding weight and tension right where your hair’s already vulnerable. Over time, they can cause more breakage, exacerbate thinning, and leave your scalp feeling sore and stressed out.

So, what does work? The Halo. Unlike traditional extensions, Sitting Pretty Halo Hair Extensions don’t attach to your natural hair at all. They rest on your head like a halo (literally), with the invisible wire sitting snugly and comfortably, distributing the weight evenly. There’s no pulling, no glue, no damage, just instant volume and length that feels like a confidence hug for your hair.

They’re especially ideal for fine or thinning hair because they protect rather than punish the roots. You can pop them on in minutes and style them however you like—without worrying about what’s happening at the root.

Start From the Inside

Hair health isn’t just about what you put on your head, it’s also about what you feed your body. That’s where Sitting Pretty Hair Health Nutraceutical comes in. Each gummy is packed with biotin, folate, copper, zinc, vitamins B6 and B12, and other nutrients that support stronger, thicker hair growth from within.

They’re also delicious (like, dangerously delicious). But remember, you’re only supposed to take two a day!

Even better? The formula has been reviewed by a dermatologist, so you can feel confident knowing it’s not just trendy, it’s trusted.

Think of them as your daily bite-sized insurance policy for your hair. Gentle, non-invasive, and formulated to help you bounce back from stress, hormonal shifts, and nutritional gaps—all the stuff your strands have been through lately.

Long-Term Habits That Help Your Hair Bounce Back

Reversing hair thinning isn’t a quick-fix game, it’s about building habits that support healthy hair for life. Throughout the years, here are the things we’ve found that actually work:

  • Gentle scalp massages boost circulation and stimulate hair follicles (bonus: they feel amazing).
  • Wash less frequently—although this depends on a person’s hair and scalp type—and, as much as possible, use sulfate-free shampoos to avoid stripping natural oils.
  • Air-dry more often or use a heat protectant when you heat style.
  • Sleep on silk pillowcases to reduce breakage and friction.

  • Be patient. Hair growth takes time, especially when you’re recovering from a stressor or health issue. It might feel slow, but your body is always working behind the scenes.

Thinning hair can feel like a loss of control. But the truth is, with the right care, tools, and support (inside and out), you can regain the fullness you miss, or at the very least, feel really good about how your hair looks while it recovers.

You don’t have to overcompensate with tight extensions or harsh products. There’s a gentler, smarter way to bring your hair back to life—and it starts with knowing you deserve better.

Why I’m getting rid of half my wardrobe

0

Weeeeellll that’s not entirely true, but if you follow me over on Instagram or Facebook you’ll know I’ve had several HUGE clearouts of my wardrobe so far this year. And I think it would be pretty close to at least 1/3 of my wardrobe gone so far (and probably more to go, to be honest!)

But why? What has sparked this mass clear-out you ask?

The answer is pretty simple really. I was getting overwhelmed with choices.

I started to get overwhelmed by the state of my wardrobe – too much of a good thing can be real!

See? I’m not unlike you. Sometimes I look at my wardrobe and don’t know where to start. My problem is though I pretty much LOVE everything I own – which makes it hard to say goodbye to things!

Part of my job as a personal stylist is to help people understand their unique style, through what I call your Style Foundations. So basically what that means is, you know what colours you like, what shapes work best on your body, and what actual styles of clothes you like wearing (ie. classic, structured, bold, feminine, etc). We then USE these foundations as filters when we do a wardrobe audit. So if items of clothing in my client’s wardrobe don’t meet those standards, they are gone!

Over the years, I’ve worked really hard to work on my style foundations, so what that means is that I’m usually pretty good at buying things that I really love, that suit my shape, and that really match my unique style. But what that also means is that it’s harder to use those guidelines to move things on too, because most of my clothes MEET those three criteria haha! Hence FULLLLLL wardrobe.

So back to the start of this year, and too many clothes – I know it sounds like a “terrible” problem to have, too many awesome clothes, but any sort of overwhelm can start to create anxiety and I was starting to feel stressed about having to get dressed every day (sound familiar?). I wanted to be able to really enjoy the clothes I already had, and to some extent, break the cycle of always wanting to add more new and shiny.

I got ruthless, I mean RUTHLESS! This is what I did, my guidelines for really clearing out what wasn’t serving me 100% anymore, hopefully, some of these can help you too:

1. I set a REALLY specific timeframe

Now I usually get my clients to do this, pick a time frame that they haven’t worn their everyday clothes for – it might be one year, it might be 5 – it’s up to the individual.

I used COVID lockdowns as my timeframe. I got pregnant and had a baby during lockdowns, but that was 3 years ago now. We’ve had plenty of winters (and the occasional summer) since then, so anything that hasn’t been worn in the timeframe SINCE COVID automatically went onto the “to be sold” pile. Simple as that.

2. I tried clothes on.

Now I usually just do a quick flick through my racks when I’m doing a bit of a wardrobe cull, ‘yes, yes, no, maybe’ but this time, I pulled out things that I paused on and put them in a pile to TRY. Holy cow it made such a difference!

I had a beautiful dress that had embroidered flamingoes on it. It was so pretty to look at in my wardrobe, a real wow piece. One that I always thought I’d keep forever because it was so beautiful to look at… but when I tried it on, it didn’t fit right anymore. Well, didn’t that make the decision easier? I was never going to wear it again because it simply didn’t fit. Byyyyyyye!

On the flip side, I had a few things in my “possibly to go” pile that when I tried back on, I realised how much I did enjoy wearing them, and made a promise to them (and to myself) to bring them back into circulation (what, you don’t talk to your clothes? I thought everyone did… just me then. Ok)

3. Did the item match my Style Personality anymore?

Everyone’s style evolves. It’s one of the biggest places my personal styling clients get stuck. They haven’t taken the time to re-assess their own sense of style, and all of a sudden, they don’t even know what it is anymore. So I had a long hard think about my own sense of style, and what I wanted it to look like.

What that meant was that some of the pieces that I loved and that had served me loyally for years had to go. They just didn’t match who I wanted to be anymore. For example, even though one of my Style Personality words is feminineI don’t really love floral prints – they feel a little too girly for my style. I had a few gorgeous pieces that just didn’t fit with my evolving idea of what feminine is to me. So they went.

actual footage of me deciding if I’m still in love with my glitter trainers… the answer, of course, is yes!

So what am I doing differently this year to stop the overwhelm from coming back? Great question! There are a few little things I’m doing differently, and here they are.

1. I’m buying less, but better quality.

I love supporting local NZ brands, and I can appreciate the time and effort that goes into designing a range (especially after designed my collab collection with Harrie and Sam last year). I want to not only support local businesses more, but also invest in pieces that I REALLY love, and that will stand the test of time. So I’m trying to buy less but buy better.

2. I’m making an effort to dress up and wear something different every day.

I know that sounds like a no-brainer, but I tend to become a repeat offender. If I love an outfit, I’ll wear it on repeat until I get sick of it! This might work if your Mark Zuckerberg (who famously wears the same thing to work every day) but if you’re a personal stylist that loves print and colour, that doesn’t make the most of what I’ve got.

So I’m making a concerted effort to put on something I love every morning, regardless of what I’m doing. In fact, as I sit here working from home writing this blog, I’m wearing a cute matching top and skirt from Flo & Frankie, that I recently bought, not saving it for an occasion, just wearing it because it’s pretty.

They are just two changes I’m making to MY wardrobe this year, with the hope to really BUY less and WEAR more.

Colorful DIY Peppermint + Vanilla Layered Soap

0

This easy melt and pour soap project combines the scents of peppermint and vanilla with classic candy cane-inspired layers of red and white. It’s the perfect handmade gift for teachers, neighbors, or anyone who loves a little holiday pampering.

Just because melt and pour soap takes less time and effort than the cold process stuff, doesn’t mean it’s any less upscale—or gift-worthy—than more time intensive soap.

Adding embedded shapes or simple layers to your soap, like we did with these peppermint-inspired melt and pour bars, is a great way to up your soap making game without a lot of effort. So if you’re looking for a festive craft that won’t stress you out, you’ll definitely want to give this DIY layered soap a spin.

Whether you’ve layered soap before or this is your first time, this project will walk you through everything you need to know, from choosing colors to keeping those layers clean and distinct. But for more tips and tricks, check out this post on making layers in melt and pour soap.

Peppermint and Vanilla Layered Melt and Pour Soap-085Peppermint and Vanilla Layered Melt and Pour Soap-085

Supplies

  • Melt and Pour Soap Base—I chose white soap base for this project, but you can use either white or clear (glycerin) soap. If you do choose glycerin soap, I recommend alternating between white layers and clear layers to make the layers standout as much as possible.
  • Essential Oils—A natural way to add fragrance and a little aromatherapy to your bars. I went with peppermint and vanilla essential oils for a warm, uplifting scent. But feel free to choose any oils you like.
  • Mica Powder—This is what gives your layers their color! Mica powder is nontoxic and skin-safe (yay!), but it doesn’t pack as much punch as soap dye (boo!). If you’re not keeping an eye on toxins you can always opt for traditional soap dye.
  • Rubbing Alcohol—A light spritz of rubbing alcohol keeps bubbles from forming between your layers and helps the different colors adhere to one another.

Equipment

  • Rectangular Soap Mold—If you plan on making a lot of soap, it’s worth investing in a rectangular soap mold with a silicon liner. I’ve had mine for years and have gotten so much use out of it, plus it makes un-molding such a breeze. But if you’d prefer a DIY alternative, an old milk carton with one side cut off makes a great mold in a pinch.
  • Heat-Safe Bowls or Measuring Cups—To make the process as painless as possible, it’s best to have one container per soap color. If you can, choose ones that have pour spouts.
  • Thermometer—If your soap is too hot, it’ll melt the layer it buts up against. That’s why its best to have a kitchen thermometer on hand to quickly check the soap temperature before pouring your layers.

Instructions

Step 1: Cut soap into cubes

To make the melting process a little faster, cut your soap base into small cubes and divide it among three separate microwave safe containers.

Heat each container separately in the microwave in short 30-second intervals, stirring well between each one, until all the soap is melted.

Step 2: Add mica and essential oils

I wanted three distinct colors: white, pink, and red. I left one container pure white by skipping the mica. I added about 1 teaspoon red mica to the second container, and for the third, I added 2 teaspoons red mica powder.

Add essential oil to all three containers and stir well.

Step 3: Tilt mold & add first layer

Tilt your soap mold slightly by propping one side on top of a small ramekin.

Then pour your first layer. It doesn’t matter how hot this first layer is since it’s not butting up against any other colors. Spritz with rubbing alcohol to remove any bubbles and let cool for 10-15 minutes or until a solid film has formed on top.

Step 4: Add next layer

When your melted soap base cools to approximately 140 degrees F, lightly spritz the cooled layer with rubbing alcohol and pour your next layer. Continue pouring layers and spritzing with rubbing alcohol until you’ve almost reached the top.

Step 5: Pour final layer on top

Remove the ramekin so your soap mold is lying flat on the table, and then pour your last layer. Spray with alcohol and let the whole thing cool for 6-8 hours before cutting into bars.

Substitutions

  • Soap base—Any soap base will work here. If you have sensitive skin, aloe, honey, shea butter or oatmeal soap bases are ideal.
  • Colors—If you’d prefer not to use mica, you can use other natural powder-based pigments, like beetroot powder or iron oxide pigments. And if three different colors feels like too much, try sticking with one shade of red instead of two.
  • Essential oils—Since these soaps are meant for skin, use gentle essential oils like lavender or Roman chamomile. And avoid citrus oils like lemon or lime which can cause photosensitivity.

Storage

I’ve found that soap works better (and lasts a little longer) when it’s had time to dry out a bit, although it’s not totally necessary. For long term storage, leftover bars can be wrapped in plastic wrap and stored in a cool, dry pantry or linen closet indefinitely. But if you notice a change in scent, consistency or texture, it’s time to make a fresh batch.

Top Tip

Don’t let your layers cool too much before pouring the next one or they might split apart when you cut the soap into bars. How do you know what’s too much? I gently touch the layer with my finger. It should feel slightly soft and warm, but not wobbly or like it has liquid underneath.

If it bounces like a waterbed, it needs a little more time. If it feels completely firm and cool, it’s probably waited too long.

And always, always spray before and after pouring a new layer.

Equipment

  • 3 Heat-safe containers for melting your soap

  • Kitchen thermometer

  • Rectangular Soap Mold

  • Knife for cutting into bars

  • Small spray bottle with rubbing alcohol

Instructions

  • Cut your soap base into 1 inch cubes.

  • Divide the soap base between three heat-safe containers. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well each time. If needed, add more soap base as it melts so that you end up with about 1.5 – 2 cups melted soap in each container.

  • Divide the essential oils evenly between each container.

  • Add your colorant. I left one container pure white. But I added 1 teaspoon and 2 teaspoons mica powder to the remaining containers to get a soft red and deeper red.

  • Place a small ramekin under one side of your soap mold so it sits at a slight angle.

  • Pour your first layer (it doesn’t matter how hot this layer is).

  • Spritz with rubbing alcohol and let cool for 10-15 minutes.

  • When the first layer has cooled enough to form a sturdy film on top, and your melted color has cooled to about 140 degrees F, pour your next layer. For best results, spritz with alcohol before and after you pour each layer. Let cool.

  • Keep pouring your layers and spraying with rubbing alcohol. To get a candy cane effect, I did a 1″ white layer, followed by a thin layer of pink, a ½” red layer, and another thin layer of pink. If that’s too complicated just stick with two colors.

  • When it’s time to pour the last layer, remove the ramekin so the mold lies flat on the table. Then mist with alcohol, pour the soap, and mist again.

  • Let cool for 6-8 hours before removing from the mold and cutting into bars.

Notes

Plan your color order. To duplicate my pattern, you’ll be alternating white, pink, red, pink. Having each portion pre-measured helps a lot.
Work quickly but carefully. Each layer needs to be poured at the right time (ie. warm enough to bond but cool enough not to melt the one below) or you run the risk of your layers separating as the soap cools.
The melted soap may solidify slightly while you’re waiting to pour each layer. Simply re-heat the melted soap in 15-second intervals to keep it at a pourable consistency.

5 Frequently Asked Questions About Cold Cream – Besame Cosmetics

0

Just like our lipsticks that bring colors from the past back to the present, the Bésame Skincare Essentials re-discovered beauty secrets of history and added modern performance, ingredients, and results. Since our products are so unique, our customers have lots of questions!

Cold Cream is already a 5-star hit with fans, but others are curious about this moisturizing cleanser. To help you decide it’s right for you, here are the most frequently asked questions about Cold Cream.

Is Cold Cream a Moisturizer or a Cleanser? It’s Both!

Cold Cream is both! It’s a cleanser that leaves skin moisturized (instead of dry and tight). The natural oils break down makeup, dirt, and anything else on the skin. Then, it rinses away leaving skin feeling smooth, clean, and lovely.

The best part: Cold Cream doesn’t dry out the skin. Have you ever washed your face, only for your skin to feel tight and uncomfortable afterwards? That doesn’t happen with Cold Cream. It clears out pores but doesn’t damage the moisture barrier. In fact, the Rosehip and Jojoba Oils keep the skin moisturized.

So, it cleanses the skin, removes makeup, and leaves skin hydrated.

Happy customer Alyssa H. said I love the Cold Cream! Keeps my skin hydrated better than anything else I have found. It also helps with oil control. I typically have oily dry skin that would flake on occasion, but since I started using Cold Cream, the flakes have disappeared.”

Does Cold Cream Remove Waterproof Makeup?

Yes! Cold Cream removes even the most stubborn makeup. As Cold Cream is gently massaged into the skin, it breaks down makeup and gets deep into the pores. Even waterproof mascara doesn’t stand a chance against Cold Cream!

Cold Cream customer Joanna C. said I love this cold cream! It removes my waterproof mascara so effortlessly. I love that it has no fragrance and is suitable for my sensitive skin.”

Cold Cream Contains Coconut Oil. Doesn’t That Clog Pores?

Coconut Oil can clog pores if it stays on your skin. So, using coconut oil as a moisturizer or night mask could potentially lead to breakouts. Cold Cream doesn’t stay on your skin. It washes away leaving no coconut oil residue behind.

The cream melts into a liquid with water and that liquid easily washes away, leaving no coconut oil on your skin.

People with all skin types have raved about Cold Cream, even those with acne-prone skin. Customer Camy Y. said “A lifesaver. This is a truly amazing product. As someone with combination skin, rosacea, and fragrance and preservative allergies this is a godsend. I use it primarily as a face wash as I don’t wear that much makeup – but it also does a terrific job of make up removal. It leaves my skin feeling moisturized but not oily, and it doesn’t make me break out.”

Does Cold Cream Leave a Greasy Residue?

Cold creams of the past were known to leave behind a heavy, greasy residue, even after a thorough rinse. Bésame Cold Cream leaves nothing behind! Our cream was specifically designed to melt away and rinse off with ease.

Happy Cold Cream user Michelle L. said Amazing and luxurious. It melts my makeup away like magic and makes my skin feel like silk.”

Is Cold Cream Made with Natural Ingredients?

Yes! Many current cold creams are made with petroleum based ingredients. These are both not great for the environment or your skin. Our Cold Cream is made with natural ingredients like Rosehip, Sunflower Seed & Jojoba Oil and Matricaria Extract to maintain the skin’s moisture barrier.

Even the containers are sustainably made. The jar is frosted glass with metal lid, so it’s fully recyclable. Plus, they’re pretty enough, you’ll want to keep them on your vanity!

Happy Cold Cream user Olga R. said “I love this cream! It’s the only thing that will gently remove my eyeliner and mascara and it isn’t full of bad gunk like the big brands. I love the frosted glass jar especially as I am trying to get as much plastic out of my beauty products as possible.”

Have more questions about Cold Cream? Please ask! DM us at @besamecosmetics on Instagram and we’ll happily answer any of your questions.

If you’re curious to try Cold Cream, it’s available now! The 3 oz jar will last at least a month (if not more) and your skin will love it.

A Tribute to Texture by Wendy Iles – Iles Formula

0

Curls are intimate. They’re deeply tied to identity, emotion, and expression. They require a different kind of care, one rooted in understanding, respect, and intention. Throughout my career, I’ve styled every curl type imaginable, from soft waves to tightly coiled textures. Each type asks for something different, but the golden rule remains: curls must be nurtured, not tamed.

Below, I celebrate five different curl expressions, share my approach to styling and maintenance, and recommend haircuts that allow each curl type to shine its brightest.

The Iconic Afro — Volume With Identity

The Look:
A cloud of perfectly picked texture — bold, sculptural, and unapologetically powerful. This afro radiated elegance and pride. The key was shaping the form to flatter the bone structure while keeping the texture raw and alive.

Which Type:
Afros thrive on hydration. Use the Iles Formula Haute performance  Shampoo + Conditioner, and finish with the hair’s styling and protector  ILes Formula Curl Revive throughout the hair, and pick it from underneath to preserve the halo. This curl type loves moisture without heaviness, so Curl Revive was essential. I finished with Intensive Hair + Body Balm on the palms, patting down surface frizz without disrupting the lift.

Haircut Advice:
Ask for a rounded shape cut dry, as this ensures your stylist works with your natural volume and density. Layers should be minimal and carved into the shape, rather than hacked away.

Effortless Elegance

Black-and-white photo of a person with long, wavy hair flowing down their back, seated and facing away while tilting their head upward.

The Look:
Soft, cascading “S” waves that moved like silk and reflected light beautifully. Effortless, yes — but it required intention and precision behind the scenes.

Which Type:
The perfect fit for care, style and protection is the Iles Formula Signature Collection. It’s a 3-step method that botanically cleanses and delivers haute repair across all hair types. The third formula, a serum that’s lighter than the Curl Revive, is better on a blowout wave. It has the same protection as Curl Revive against heated tools + UV + colour fade, and humidity.

Once the wave is created, a light mist of Iles Formula Curl Revive brings definition back without hardening the shape.

Haircut Advice:
Long, seamless graduation around the face from chin to the most extended length enhances width with weight without creating frizz. Keep the perimeter blunt to maintain strength.

Rounded, Defined Curls

Person with blonde curly hair styled in loose waves, wearing a black top, making a playful pout at the camera.

The Look:
Voluptuous, symmetrical curls with a bounce in every step. This is the curl that makes people ask, “Is that natural?”

Which Type:
Use IFormula Shampoo + conditioner. Comb or wet brush through the conditioner with our wide comb or wet brush in the shower, rinse then apply the Turban Towel. This extracts excess water rapidly from the hair without disturbing the curls.  Excellent for lazy curls. Remove the turban after about 3 to 5 minutes and spray with  Iles Formula Curl Revive section by section.

Lastly, diffuse or allow the hair to dry naturally.

Haircut Advice:
Ask for a “curl-by-curl” cut. This technique honors the natural pattern and density. Rounded layers maintain balance and help distribute volume evenly.

The Look:
Tightly coiled curls full of buoyancy and energy. This look danced with every movement, radiating health and joy.

Which Type:
This curl type craves hydration. I cocktail Curl Revive with the Haute Performance Hair Balm, smoothing it in sections while wet. For day-two refresh, I mist Curl Revive and gently re-coil with fingers. The Finishing Serum is my go-to for adding silkiness and sealing in moisture without grease.

Haircut Advice:
Structured layering is key. Avoid thinning shears — instead, opt for rounded or oval-shaped cuts that follow your curl’s natural gravity. This allows movement without bulk at the ends.

Close-up portrait of a person with sleek, straight black hair pulled back smoothly, looking directly at the camera.

The Look:
For tightly textured hair, with a treatment to permanently remove the curl ! Treat this hair as you would if it were curly; the texture’s personality remains the same. It’s strong and determined. The sharp cut on the straightened hair creates a high-fashion moment.

Which Type:
For sleek styles on textured hair that has the curl removed, it’s best attempted even so with a blowout. One could opt between the Finishing Serum (lighter, silkier finish) or Curl Revive, which has a slightly heavier cashmere texture. For scalp and edge protection, I blend in a touch of Haute Performance Hair Balm — it nourishes without disrupting the style.

Haircut Advice:
For this type of styling, a cut that respects natural hair shrinkage is crucial. Keep the perimeter clean and evenly shaped, with precise graphic lines that still allow for sleek finishes and defined silhouettes.
