Emma Hernan on Finding Her On-Camera Glow

0

When Selling Sunset first premiered, Emma Hernan was suddenly seeing herself through a whole new lens—literally. “It was wild,” she laughs. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, I need a full makeover after watching.’ That’s honestly how I felt! You can’t help but pick yourself apart. All I could keep thinking was: ‘Wait, my lips look small!’”

While she admits it was an adjustment, the real estate guru, entrepreneur and CEO says the experience taught her how to refine her beauty look in a way that still felt authentic. “I learned, ‘Okay, I’ll overline my lips a little bit,’ because I don’t want to change my face. That’s one thing—I’ve never touched my face, never changed it, never done anything. I think that’s something that makes me special.”

For Hernan, it was all about enhancement, not transformation. “I started doing things like switching from individual lashes to strip lashes, finding the right gloss. Those small changes made a big difference. It’s hard to see yourself on TV, but it helped me find my look.”

After long days on set, Hernan says she has mastered the art of washing the day away. “My new favorite thing is the Farmacy cleansing balm. It takes all your makeup off. When I first started the show, I would just use a makeup wipe and scrub my face for so long. Nothing would come off. Now I use this cream remover—you put it all over your face, and your lashes and everything just melts away. My face feels so much better and more hydrated because I’m not scrubbing every night.”

Her next steps: “I use a cleanser, then a scrub; Dr. Barbara Sturm’s is my favorite. And before I go to set, I do my under-eye patches. I keep them in the fridge so they’re cold—it wakes me up a little more.”

When the cameras stop rolling, self-care becomes sacred. “I walk every single day. Spending time with my animals is super important—when the cats are lying on me and purring, it’s so therapeutic,” she says. “Every single night, I take a bath. It sounds small, but that’s my time to let go of everything. I add bath salts to give my body a break—after walking in heels all day, it’s rough. It’s my moment to relax. I also live really close to Next Health [in Los Angeles]and I go down there all the time. I get IVs, I do the sauna, cryotherapy, vitamin shots—all of it. Health is so important. Health is beauty, and wellness is so important to me. I try and prioritize that.”

When it’s time to unwind fully, there’s one place above all others that she swears by. “The Maybourne in LA is my absolute favorite for massages. I love to go in the hot tub, relax, shower before my massage and then go in the mineral pool afterward. I leave all the oils on my skin—it’s so good for hydration. My skin always feels amazing when I leave.”

As the year winds down and the heat on the show turns up, Hernan says her focus is on balance. “I’ve been working nonstop,” she says. “I’m excited for some family time and to unwind a bit. The holidays are my favorite—it’s when everyone can relax, put life into perspective and get that family time in. It’s my niece and goddaughter’s birthday tomorrow, so I’m flying in for that. Of course,” she adds with a laugh, “I never really stop working. I’m continuing to build my empire.”

A Spring Affair in The Forum Shops!

0

Press Sample

It’s Spring, and you know what that means? It means it’s time for me to share the great day that I shared with some fabulous and fun ladies here in Las Vegas at the Caesars Palace Forum Shops! I seriously always love these seasonal jaunts through the shops for lots of reasons! I love the time with all the other bloggers – I leave feeling so energized and excited to be part of the blogging community here in Vegas! On top of that, I always learn about stores that I might not have ever stopped at otherwise! (I also end up buying something every time – who can resist?!) Hit the jump to see what I ended up buying this trip! (And learn a bit about the stores we checked out this time!)

In what other city than Las Vegas can you walk into another country after leaving (the secret) VIP Valet into a group of boss babes, brunch, and fantastic mimosas right alongside the Fountain of the Gods?! The amazing ladies from the Forum Shops set up an awesome spread of pastries, mimosas & coffee, and with that, we were fortified for a fun day of shopping!

RIMOWA

First stop, Rimowa! Before this event, I’d heard of Rimowa, and knew that they were known for their high-end, quality luggage, but had never experienced it for myself.

I had no idea all of the cool options they had to offer, from different models to personalization options (stickers galore!)

There are several different collections that Rimowa has to offer, and one of my favorite features of Rimowa luggage–the Flex Divider–is available in most of them! The cool thing about the Flex Divider is that it’s like built in packing cubes – you can adjust the strap to tightly contain whatever contents of your suitcase there may be!

My favorite thing about their luggage is that it gives off that super rockstar vibe – the sturdy metal exterior of the aluminum suitcase body can be plastered with stickers from your travels! They have stickers from several major cities – even a pizza sticker! (my fave, obvi) I feel like it’s super ‘I’m on a world tour’ and it would be a killer way to document your travels over the years! (and people DO keep this luggage for year – there is a story about a customer of theirs that was asked to donate his old suitcase to the store when he replaced it after 25 years and 2.1 million air miles! That’s impressive, when I can barely get a suitcase that doesn’t fall apart with a year of travel! If, heaven forbid, anything happens to your Rimowa luggage, they can repair it, and will even offer up a loaner to keep you on the go!

MONACO CLUB

Another shop on the list that I’ve never been to – but this is a newer addition to the Forum Shops! Upon walking into the Club Monaco store, you’re greeted by bright, airy pieces in all gorgeous earth tones.

There are jumpsuits in linen, breezy shirt dresses in dove grey, sweaters, tees, even jewelry and other accessories like this darling basket bag.

I feel like the most unique feature of the Club Monaco store at the Forum Shops (there are only 2 Club Monaco stores that feature it) is the lighting! What?! I know it sounds weird, but the geniuses at Club Monaco has figured out how to make crappy fitting room lighting a thing of the past- when you step into your fitting room, you’ll see a little panel with 4 lighting options: Indoor, Day, Evening, and Vegas. How fun is that?!

Danielle, the store manager, took us through all the gorgeous new Spring looks, and then gave us a HUGE, AWESOME surprise – we got to pick our favorite and take it home! I was absolutely obsessed with the Danielle shirt dress that was paired with the Leileh straight cropped denim. I loved its versatility – I can wear it together, and I can also wear each piece separately!

ROBERT GRAHAM

I have this thing with floors… you know that IG, right? Anyway, in the entranceway to the Robert Graham store is a tile floor design that says ‘The Devil Is In the Details.’

Well, when you walk into the Robert Graham store, you definitely find that to be true. The store is a spectrum of color and pattern, all woven together seamlessly- these designs are definitely not for the faint of heart! Robert Graham is known for their mixing of bold prints and attention to detail – even the inside of the cuffs of each shirt are lined with a bold patterned fabric!

I always assumed that Robert Graham was only a men’s clothing line, but I was wrong – there were some seriously gorgeous dresses there, and tons of fun, patterned shirts, scarves, and jackets!

They also have some pieces that are limited edition – they boast hand-sewn details and are numbered on the inside of the placket, which makes them all the more special to add to your collection! With Father’s Day coming up, there are tons of ideas to add to the list of great gifts!

Robert Graham even carries their own fragrances – Fortitude, Valour, and Courage. Each one has a totally rad topper – my favorite might be the bulldog – am I biased because of Winston? Maybe. (it was my favorite scent even without the bulldog too, though)

SAY-RE

I. LOVE. SUNGLASSES. Aside from shoes, they’re my very favorite accessory. I have amassed an impressive collection over the years– interestingly enough, a pair of orange and black Ray-Ban Clubmasters were my very first pair of non-cheapy sunglasses, and I’ve been hooked ever since!

It was really fun to try on new styles and frame shapes from Ray Ban, and I definitely added some styles to my wishlist! (and maybe one to my collection) The style I picked were part of the Ferrari collection – I loved the frame with my face shape, the brow bar, and the fact that the nose pads and earpieces were a bright, bold yellow! (one of my favvvvorite colors!)

One of the other styles that I added to my wishlist is the same frame shape, but with a cool gradient lens, which I love the look of. I have a pair of sunglasses from Fendi that have a different shape but similar lens gradient/color that I absolutely adore.

Do you have a favorite frame shape or sunglasses style that you tend to go for over and over again? I definitely do – I know what fits my face, and while sometimes I will deviate from it for frames that are truly rad, I tend to stick to what works!

SUSHI ROKU

Food. Oh God, how I love food. I don’t know what happened recently, but in the last 6 months to a year or so, my body decided that it LOVES sushi and seafood. (This is after a good 37 years of hating it or tolerating it) When I saw that Sushi Roku was our final stop for the day, I was SO stoked, and we didn’t even know yet what was in store! We were surprised with a lesson on the cuts of the tuna (he even showed us how they cut the enormous pieces into usable filets. After that demonstration, he picked a volunteer from our group to learn how to make a spicy tuna roll – Patty was up to the challenge, and he guided her (and us) through all the steps to make the perfect roll! It was a super fun addition to our lunch!

Next up, we started with the awesome meal. First up, Brussels sprouts, which look unassuming, but they were delicious (another addition to the list of foods I used to hate, but now adore these days).

After that was plate after plate of amazing sushi – from sashimi to full-on rolls. There were seriously too many delicious dishes to count! (and we ate them ALL!) To supplement the delicious dishes, we were treated to some gorgeous and vibrantly pink prickly pair cactus cocktails, and some earthy sake.

The grand finale to this meal was SO cool! The server brought out these large pink clouds of fluffy cotton candy and set them down on the table in front of us. He took out a lighter and lit the cotton candy on fire to reveal a beautiful red velvet cake with ice cream and berries – the melted cotton candy added a little bit of crunch and that delightful burnt sugar taste.

In addition to the red velvet extravaganza was a dish of little mini donuts filled with dark chocolate, and rolled in cinnamon sugar. To make them even more delicious (is that possible?), there were two dipping sauces – vanilla and caramel, and I definitely tried both. YUM. I loved the spectacle that was the red velvet cotton candy dessert, but those little donut holes, to die for.

I am SO glad that I get the opportunity to go to these awesome outings, I love our group of bloggers, and I love the team at the Forum Shops, they’re so thoughtful and sweet, and they always put together an amazing day for us! Thank you so much to them and to Christie Moeller (of Icanstyleu.com) for organizing this fabulous day!

Cozy weather lifestyle and beauty rituals

0

The post-holiday weather inspires a need to stay cozy with hot cocoa and a blanket. It seems like the best time to dive back into the beauty world again. There are several items that has helped me during the cold season.

There are some newly launched products or products that I am rediscovering again.

Hot cocoa recipe with the Creekside mallow marshmallows

Let’s get started with a warm beverage. First, I wanted to share with you a hot cocoa recipe that is rich and delicious. It’s the popular recipe from Paris that has been viral on TikTok. I used the French style recipe from Martha Stewart. I created this recipe for a family gathering and it was a hit. I bought over some creekside mallow marshmallows to go with the theme. We had a marshmallow bar that allowed everyone to try their favorite marshmallow with the hot cocoa. My favorite were the mint chocolate chips. They are so good to eat by themselves. There was even a marshmallow toppers that you can put on your hot cocoa. The kids were so cute as they were just eating the toppings by themselves. This is a recipe that I will try again.

Hydration is the key for the winter weather. I seek skincare that keeps me hydrated and makeup that is creamy and rich in texture. I need that nourishment as my skin feels tighter and my lines are more prominent.

Skincare essentials for winter

It all starts with great skin. Your makeup is not going to look good if your skin is dry and flaky. These skincare products are items that I have been testing or rediscovered.

Charlotte Tilbury skincare for winter ❄️ skincare – reviewed here

As a beauty expert, I am lucky to be sent so many items to try and test so that I can share my opinions with you. Charlotte Tilbury is one of those items. As a magic Beauty Star, I get exclusive access to their top sellers and latest launches. I was sent a bundle of their skincare products, including their new magic water cream to try and test. In addition to free products, I am given a code to share that I will save you 15%. Use my code feliceFAJ5M to save 15%. I will make commission if you use my code and it is only good for full price single items – other exclusions may apply.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream*

I have been using my Charlotte Tilbury skincare for a while. I have just finished my magic magic water cream as well as other products but that is okay because I will be moving on to the magic cream for the winter weather. They are both hydrating and great for my skin.  I also used the last of my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Serum and magic eye rescue. The Charlotte Tilbury Magic hydrating mist is perfect for all day touch up when you need it.

My current Charlotte Tilbury skincare lineup

  • Charlotte Tilbury magic cream
  • Charlotte Tilbury eye rescue
  • Charlotte Tilbury glow toner
  • Charlotte Tilbury hydrating mist

These are great skincare products that I love and will replenish often.

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair*

This is a serum that I keep on my rotation. I have been using this since I started working on beauty retail. There is a reason why this serum is a top seller in the beauty world. This serum helps replenish and boost your skin’s cell renewal process while your sleep. Your skin repairing process tends to slow down with age. Estée Lauder advanced night repair, with the benefits of  seven serums in one, helps boost the reparative process. In addition, it helps protects your skin against the environmental aggressors that can further damage your skin during the day time. I found myself needing this serum more now than ever as I am older. It gives my skin a bigger glow than I last used it. Also, check out my Instagram and TikTok post using this serum.

Hydrating foundations for the winter

These foundations has been on my rotation for cold weather. One constant is the Le Metier Peau Virgin anti-aging complex foundation. I use it everyday – before any foundation or by itself. It is deeply nourishing and hydrating. This foundation is sheer, luxurious feeling foundation that improves the look of the skin.

Adding color with blush and bronzer

Highlighter to add a dewy glow for a winter makeup look

There are so many ways to use the highlighter: mix with foundations, mix with moisturizer, wear before foundation or finish the look by adding it to the top of the cheeks. Charlotte Tilbury has great options with their spotlight beauty light wand or the Hollywood flawless filter. Mixing the flawless filter with the magic cream creates a natural dewy glow to start off the makeup look. How do you like to wear your Hollywood flawless filter? Use my code feliceFAJ5M to save 15%.

Grande lash peptide mascara

This mascara conditions my lashes as well as adding instant lengths to my lashes. They appear healthier and there are no clumps present. One layer gives me the results I desire.

Yves Saint Laurent couture mini clutch luxury eyeshadow palette

Comes in a luxurious packaging and several different neutral shades that you can choose from. Easy to create an everyday look.

Laura Mercier Cavier Stick Eye color – use my code lyfestilebeautyandskin to shop Laura Mercier site

A creamy texture is perfect for the winter shade. It is lightweight and blends beautifully. The colors create a beautiful glow. It can be buildable and is transfer resistant. You can wear them by themselves, use them as a primer to intensify the eyeshadow, or apply after the eyeshadow at the corners of the eyes.

Repair damaged hair with L’Oréal Professionel metal detox collection

Repair your damaged hair caused by buildup and of metal that accumulates over time. Metal build up can lead to damaged hair, faded color, and breakage of the hair. My hair goal is to repair and nourish my hair to achieve a healthier and manageable hair. I have been testing the hair oil, shampoo and hair mask to repair and protect my hair! I am amazed by the reaction that these three has achieved together! My hair is shinier and appears healthier. My scalp even feels cleaner.

Closing statements

I hope that you enjoyed my winter beauty lineup. Was there any new discoveries that you are excited to try.

I now have a LTK profile. Find my profile by my username LifestylewithFelice. I also share more updates on my TikTok and Instagram. I will be sharing more beauty discoveries on my blog.

BEST OVERALL

Best Retinol Serum: Carrot & Stick The Retinol Serum. This formula contains a next-generation retinol complex and potent antioxidants to help reduce visible signs of aging. For optimal results, we recommend Carrot & Stick’s Lift & Smooth routine.

FULL LIST

Estee Lauder Perfectionist Pro Rapid Renewal Serum
This formula is offers multiple benefits as it combines retinol with antioxidants and Hyaluronic Acid. It does contain a lighter concentration of retinol but that makea it a good choice for daily use. The only downside of this formula is the inclusion of fragrance.

Formulyst Double Defense Serum
Thanks to a powerhouse of antioxidants and a rich retinoid compound, this potent anti-aging formula reduces the appearance of wrinkles and blemishes while leaving you with youthful-looking skin that’s visually smoother, firmer, and more even without stripping the skin of vital moisture.

It’s formulated with Hydroxypinacolone Etinoate, one of the most bioavailable non-prescription forms of Vitamin A. It also includes antioxidants like caffeine, vitamin C, and vitamin E that help fight the effects of skin damage and premature photoaging.

CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum
Looking for the best retinol serum for acne? Keep in mind that your skin can be on the sensitive side (maybe even inflamed.) This formula provides all the benefits of retinol, but with the addition of skin-soothing ceramides and niacinamide to even out the skin tone, reduce redness, and soften acne scars.

Sunday Riley A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum
Full disclosure: This is not a retinol serum for rookie retinol users. This professional strength formula consists of a 5% retinoid ester blend, 1% liposomal-encapsulated retinol, and blue-green algae to provide antioxidant protection.

The addition of encapsulated CoQ10 works to improve damaged or aging skin; and if you’re worried about irritation due to the strength, cactus extract, Hawaiian white honey, bisabolol, and ginger calm and soothe.

Kate Somerville + Retinol Vitamin C Serum
It’s not too often that you see a serum incorporating retinol and vitamin C because they thrive in two different pH environments. However, Kate Somerville has managed to formulate a serum that harnesses both of these power-packed ingredients. It works while you sleep to brighten, tone, and revive a dull, uneven skin tone.

Clinical studies indicate that 97% of users noticed improved fine lines and wrinkles after just one use. After one week, 93% saw an improvement in skin elasticity, and 90% said their skin tone looked brighter.

Verso Dark Spot Fix
This serum contains the highest concentration of retinol 8, which is eight times stronger than traditional retinol (read: super collagen booster), yet only half as irritating. The trifecta of turmeric, niacinamide, and retinol 8 work synergistically to decrease the appearance of hyperpigmentation while restricting melanin production. The addition of hyaluronic acid promotes a plump and hydrated complexion.

What is retinol?

Retinol is one of the top skincare ingredients for softening and preventing fine lines and wrinkles, reducing pore size and acne, encouraging collagen production, lessening the appearance of brown spots, increasing cell turnover, and improving skin texture — pretty incredible, right? You can even find a retinol oil or the best retinol for acne, so it’s an active ingredient with copious benefits.

So, what is retinol? It’s a particular type of retinoid in the vitamin A family. However, in most cases, retinol is deemed as a less potent version of vitamin A.

But make no mistake, even though retinol isn’t as intense as more potent retinoids, it doesn’t mean it’s not incredibly useful when it comes to fighting the signs of aging skin. One of the best ways to incorporate this results-driven ingredient into your regime is with the best retinol serum.

Best Retinol Serum: The Final Word

What’s the Best Retinol Serum? Overall, we suggest Carrot & Stick The Retinol Serum. For optimal result, use Carrot & Stick’s Lift & Smooth. routine.

Retinol is one of the top skincare ingredients for softening and preventing fine lines and wrinkles, reducing pore size, encouraging collagen production, lessening brown spots, increasing cell turnover, and improving the skin’s texture.

Even so, when purchasing over-the-counter retinol (not to be confused with prescription-strength retinoids), you still want to make sure you’re choosing a brand and product of integrity that’s the best strength for your skin type if you want the best result.

Ask Lauren: What If Your Client Refuses to Get Rid of an Item?

In today’s blog post, we will discuss what to do when your client refuses to remove an item during a closet cleanse.

As a personal stylist, you might encounter situations where your clients are attached to their items, even if it’s not the best choice. But don’t worry; there are ways to handle this situation gracefully and easily.

First, let’s get straight – this is not a reality show. We’re not here to make fun of our clients or throw away their beloved clothes for the sake of drama. Our job is to help our clients look and feel their best, not to judge them for their choices.

So, if your client doesn’t want to get rid of something in their closet, let them keep it. It’s their property and not our place to pressure them to let go of something they’re not ready to part with.

However, that doesn’t mean we should give up and move on. It’s our job to educate our clients on why certain items might not be the best choice for them. For example, if a polka dot blouse doesn’t have a modern neckline or doesn’t accentuate their beautiful neck, we can kindly explain why it’s not the best choice for them.

If your client is still not convinced, that’s okay too. Offer to find more modern options for them to try on during your shopping trips, and they might be surprised at how much they love the new items.

Remember, our clients’ emotional attachments to their clothes are real, and it’s not our place to judge them for it. We can gently guide them towards better choices, but ultimately, it’s up to them to decide what they want to keep and what they want to let go of.

So when your client refuses to get rid of an item during a closet cleanses, don’t sweat it. Be kind, be patient, and focus on educating your client on better choices. At the end of the day, you’re there to help them feel confident and stylish, not to judge them for their choices.

Four In-Shower Wins This November and One I Would Skip

0

Testing the shower waters this month. These are the standouts.

We moved into a new apartment with three bathrooms, which sounds glamorous on paper. In reality, each one has something. One sprays like it’s not even trying, one drains at Madrid-bureaucracy speed, and the third only commits if you stand in the exact right four-inch square while thinking calm thoughts.

Best and worst body and hair care of 2025.

So yes, I have been spending an absurd amount of time showering, rinsing, adjusting angles, and questioning Spanish plumbing choices. And since I am stuck in there troubleshooting water pressure anyway, I have been testing and embracing products right along with it. Below, five in-shower picks that made an impression this month. Some great, one regrettable, and a couple that fall into the “worth your curiosity” category.

Acnemy zit calm soothing cleanser.

Acnemy Zit Calm Anti-Redness Calming Cleanser

I picked this up fully knowing I am not the target acne customer. But the promise of a soothing, everyday cleanser for breakout-prone and sensitive skin spoke to me. As the weather turns cooler here in Madrid and my routine is still settling after the move, anything that keeps my skin calm has my attention. It is fragrance free, which I always appreciate when my barrier feels temperamental.

Texture wise, it glides across the skin with a silky slip and generates a barely there lather. Just a soft, comforting cleanse that feels right on days when your face needs a break from radiators and overambition with acids. Even if you are not dealing with blemishes, the gentle oat and ferment combo makes this an unexpectedly reliable winter wash when your skin wants kind, uncomplicated care.

Sephora Glow brightening face wash powder.

Sephora Collection Vitamin C+E Brightening Glow Cleansing Powder

Most powder cleansers rely on fruit enzymes for gentle exfoliation. This one does not. It uses mild surfactants to cleanse, with rice starch and calcium carbonate offering a very soft polish. You still get a brightening boost from ascorbyl glucoside paired with vitamin E, and it foams easily once water hits it. The finish is clean and fresh, not tight or squeaky.

The relaunch brought a few changes. Sephora swapped out the coconut-derived cleansing agents from the earlier version and added fragrance. I miss the original because it was superb. This one is still good, especially for the price. Oddly enough, it is available everywhere except the United States. If you want a budget friendly powder cleanser that brightens and travels well without the enzyme intensity, this is one to explore.

ISDIN body cleansing oil with urea.

ISDIN Ureadin Calm Oil Gel

I wanted to love this. A gel-oil cleanser for dry or easily irritated skin, packed with dexpanthenol, soybean and castor oils, and vitamin E sounded ideal for colder months and heater season. And to its credit, the texture is lovely in the shower and my skin feels genuinely soft and comforted afterward. If you are prone to tightness and flakiness, this style of formula absolutely has its place.

Where things go sideways is the execution. I am not anti-fragrance, especially in European pharmacy skincare where it is often done beautifully. This particular scent just misses. It smells inexpensive and leans more men’s body spray than soothing body wash. The pump adds to the frustration. The first pump dispenses properly, then each pump after needs a full pause to reset. It turns your shower into a slow-motion performance. My skin likes the formula, but between the stop-start dispenser and the unimpressive scent, I will reach for one of the many better-thought-out oil cleansers available at pharmacies here.

Kerastase nutritive shampoo for dry hair.

Kérastase Nutritive Bain Satin Shampoo

There are shampoos you try, like, and move on from, and then there are formulas that justify their reputation every single time. Kérastase Nutritive Bain Satin sits firmly in the latter camp. It is part of the same Nutritive family that gave us my all-time favorite hair product, Nectar Thermique, so expectations are always high. This one is all about nourishment without adding any weight. The texture feels salon grade and it leaves my hair soft, smooth and easy to manage.

There is a reason this line has had a devoted following for years. The lather is generous, the rinse feels clean and the scent has that unmistakable Kérastase signature. If you want a shampoo that consistently delivers a glossy, cooperative finish, this remains a classic worth keeping in rotation. Pair it with Nectar Thermique and I am certain you will be blown away.

$43 (250ml) at sephora.com or kerastase-usa.com

Everist water-free hair conditioner in a tube.

Everist The Conditioning Concentrate

The metal tube might look minimal, but it delivers maximum impact on dry or stressed hair. The formula is water-free and concentrated, so you only need a pea-sized amount. Once it meets damp hair it spreads beautifully, giving that silky “my hair will behave today” slip without feeling heavy. With aloe, glycerin and nourishing plant oils like pumpkin seed and baobab, it delivers unparalleled softness. It’s the kind of smoothness you notice right away, especially if your routine or water quality has been in flux.

It feels indulgent without being fussy, rinses cleanly and consistently brings my hair back to a calm, hydrated place. If your hair has been reacting to seasonal changes, this is a clever, efficient formula worth having in the shower. A little really does go a long way.

$24 (100ml) at thedetoxmarket.com

In conclusion…

That is just one angle into my November shower rotation. Trust me, there were more contenders circling the drain but I am keeping this edit to five so no one feels overwhelmed. If you are in your “my face needs extra kindness right now” era, I insist you read my post on seven ideal cleansers for dry, stressed winter skin. It is a lineup even the pickiest skincare people will appreciate. And if you like a minimalist moment in the shower, my breakdown of body washes that double as face cleansers is another smart place to explore.

Top Tips For Returning Back To Work – Eyelash Emporium

0

We’re absolutely thrilled to be getting back to lashing, and with April 12th just around the corner, there’s a lot of excitement in the air! Lash techs, we know you’ve got a bunch of planning and preparation ahead, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Our top priority is making sure you can create a super safe and welcoming environment for both you and your clients. We totally get that maintaining cleanliness and sterilising equipment might seem a bit time-consuming initially, but trust us, once you’ve got things organised, it becomes easier. Here are some friendly tips to make your return to work smoother:

KEEPING YOUR SALON COVID-SAFE

  1. Declutter your salon and workspace: A little spring cleaning never hurt anyone! Clearing out unnecessary items in your salon makes for a more efficient and easier-to-clean space.

  2. Create a cleaning checklist: Stay on top of your cleaning game by having a checklist to guide you throughout the day. It’s a simple way to make sure everything stays squeaky clean, sanitised and sterilised.

  3. Sterilise your tools: Keep those essential tools like tweezers, scissors, brushes and other lash essentials in top-notch condition by regularly sterilising them. Consider using an LED steriliser device like the 59S Sterilising Wand for a quick and effective solution. It is certified to eliminate 99/9% of bacteria in just 3 minutes.

ORGANISATION IS KEY

Efficiency is the name of the game for lash techs, and we’re here to help you streamline your workflow:

  1. Manage your schedule: Set specific work hours to avoid any overbooking stress. Clearly communicate guidelines to your clients, and taking deposits for treatments can help manage potential lateness or missed appointments.

  2. Stock up wisely: Take inventory of your supplies, order only what you need, and make sure your adhesives and tints are fresh and within their expiration date for optimal performance.

  3. Time-saving tricks: Streamline the consultation process by having clients complete electronic forms before their appointments. It’s a fantastic way to save time and prevent any unnecessary delays.

BE KIND TO YOURSELF

We know coming back after a break can be a bit overwhelming, so remember to take it easy on yourself:

1. Prioritise self-care: Returning to the salon is exciting, but it’s crucial to prioritize your well-being. If you’re feeling a bit anxious, that’s totally normal. Take the time to adjust to the “new normal” without putting too much pressure on yourself.

2. Establish work/life balance: Now’s the perfect time to find that sweet spot between work and personal life. Balance is key!

3. We’re here for you: If you ever need support or have questions, our Customer Services team and the Eyelash Emporium educators are just a message away. We’ve got your back!

Here’s to a fantastic return to lashing – you’ve got this!

The Only Christmas Gift Guide You’ll Need This Year – The Anna Edit

0

The perfect post to send to someone special if you need to drop some hints…

This post contains ad affiliate links (denoted by a ‘*’) & gifted items (denoted by ‘ad – gifted). You can read my full disclaimer here.

Once again I’ve trawled the web for the ultimate festive gift guide that caters for all budgets and should have you covered, whomever the lucky recipient is. So if it’s a Secret Santa that’s got you scratching your head, or a special someone that has you stumped, look no further…

A LITTLE SOMETHING…

It’s universally agreed that this category is the toughest one. So whether you’re doing a Secret Santa, need a few stocking stuffers, or you just want to have something on hand to give to unexpected gifters, here are some recommendations – all under £15. My top pick would be to buy them your favourite book you’ve read this year and then slip this super chic Silk Bookmark* between the pages, or fill this HAY Crate* with something you think they’ll love inside, like all the ingredients for an indulgent hot chocolate, or the bits you need for your go-to cookie recipe. Even when the gift is more on the novelty side I still like it to be useful in some way and I can’t think of anyone I know who wouldn’t get use of out this Watering Globe* – what a good idea! I’m a sucker for an edible gift though and these Hotel Chocolat Dark Chocolate Batons* and Tony’s Christmas Gift Pack* look RIGHT up my street.

A LITTLE SOMETHING*

CLOTHING & CASHMERE…

As always I suggest that when it comes to clothing, unless a piece has been specifiedyour best bet is to stick to cashmere or just generally comfy items. This year my favourite matching set is this jumper* and these trousers* from ARKET, it’s giving some serious Toteme vibes. Cashmere socks are something that is on my Christmas list every single year and you cannot go wrong with The White Company* ones, they are the true OG’s, although these Falke Wool & Cashmere Blend Socks* are a chic more affordable alternative. Dressing gowns are fab because they last for years and the receiver is always going to get use out of them. Personally I love the Soho House Fleece* ones, but this Tekla Fabrics Stripe Dressing Gown* looks so cosy.

CLOTHING & CASHMERE*

A BEAUTY LOVERS DREAM…

One thing that I buy every single year is this Aromatherapy Associates Set* for my Grandparents. They find a way to make it last a whole year – MY HEART!!! Sets always end up as the best value, but sometimes it’s just nice to gift something that you really like yourself that you feel like they will love. For me that would be the Summer Fridays Lip Butter*, Maison Margelia ‘When The Rain Stops’ Fragrance* or the Westman Atelier Blender Brush* – those are all things that I use every single day. If I had to pick my top, top pick though? It would be this Face Gym Sculpting Tool*. Any beauty lover would probably be on their Gua Sha game already, but this one is unbreakable, stays nice and cool and would be great if they travel.

A BEAUTY LOVERS DREAM*

FOR THE FOODIES…

What foodie doesn’t love a cookbook?! My favourite one that I’ve purchased and baked from many times this year is ‘Sweet Enough’ by Allison Roman*; especially if you have a baker in your life, they’ll love it. As someone who loves to cook, I would never turn down a set of measuring spoons – ever! – I use them every single morning when I make my smoothie and I think these ones* would look cool in any kitchen. These Onion Goggles* feel like a joke gift, but I can guarantee that I’d end up actually using them! If it’s a slightly pricer gift that you’re after then a foodie would be very into a Pasta Maker*, I’m sure of it. Just make sure you get a homemade pasta dinner date in the diary ASAP!

FOR THE FOODIES*

SOMETHING FOR THE HOME…

Got a homebody in your life!? May I suggest a little book and blanket bundle?! Something like this Lambswool Blanket*, paired with ‘Tom Lake’ by Ann Patchett (I’ve just finished it and WHAT A BRILLIANT BOOK!). I can’t think of a better combo than that. Maybe throw in a face mask, or a pair of pyjamas too and you’re going to be top of the list. A cute vase is always a nice option too – I really like the look of this Sandstone* one. Artwork is a little tricker so you definitely have to know the receiver well, but it feels like such a well considered present – especially when it’s framed already! This* is a great colourful and affordable print, and this Lemons Print* is such a great one for any hallway or kitchen.

SOMETHING FOR THE HOME*

FOR THE ORGANISED ONE…

I mean this is my annual spot to do a book plug, RIGHT!? ‘An Edited Life’* is THE organisation manual for all, and I can guarantee you’ll be bitten by the tidying bug once you’ve flicked through a few pages. Any work-from-homers will appreciate practical gifts like this Weekly Schedule Organiser*, or this Gold Desktop Tidy* or if you want to go all out this Desk Organiser* is on my personal Christmas list. I haven’t seen this Joseph Joseph Cosmetic Case* before and I love that it could store all your daily beauty bits in, but also act as a stand-up mirror too, a nice little two-in-one. This HK Living* one is a little smaller, but would be great to store your jewellery in too.

FOR THE ORGANISED ONE*

FOR THE FITNESS FANATIC…

Lululemon is my go-to for gifts for those in my life who enjoy a good sweat. No one complains with a pair of Align Pants* (plus the returns are really flex around the festive period if they need to switch up the size), and the Lululemon Yoga Mat* is something that I’ve had for years – probably about 7 years at this point! These B Yoga Helix Weights* are the CHICEST weights that I’ve ever seen, and I feel like Bala make really gorgeous workout accessories too like these Resistance Bands* and Balance Blocks* – you definitely wouldn’t mind any of those being out on display in your workout corner. Know someone that lifts!? They are never going to say no to a pair of Lifting Gloves* and these look really fancy.

FOR THE FITNESS FANATIC*

LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOY…

Mark’s done a full 44-piece gift edit here if you want to check out, but I asked him for his top, top picks and here’s what he came back with… A set of these Mugs* are top of his wishlist and can see why – they are very aesthetically pleasing! I agree with him that t-shirts are always a solid option and you can sneak in to see the sizing on the ones he already owns, this one from Colourful Standard* is a really nice colour. In terms of accessories he wears his Carhartt Beanie* year on year, and is never without a water bottle like this Yeti one*. A fancy hand cream that you don’t mind strewn across the nightstand is always a winner, and the Aesop Resurrection* one does smell really, really good.

LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOY*

FOR THE LITTLES…

If you want ideas for a little human who is more in the 0-12 months category, then check out last year’s post because this year I am fully versed in all things toddlers. Got a 2-3 year old to buy for? I’VE GOT YOUR BACK. We are big train fans in this household and any type of Brio Train Set* feels like a solid choice (and if you know they already have some then a Battery-Operated Train* is a good idea). Role play toys are always a good’un too – Ralph is a big fan of this Doctors Kit*, and anything to do with a kitchen like this Coffee Machine* always makes him feel like he’s doing it for real. Ralph has played with this Henry Hoover* everyday since he got it or if it’s just a little something you’re after parents will thank you for this Reusable Sticker Book* which comes with us every time we attempt a meal out. So, so good and £2.99!!!
