UPDATED MAY 2026: Lip liners are a bit of an obsession for me, so I was excited to try the new MERIT Beauty Signature Lip Liner shades for 2026. Here’s everything you need to know with photos and swatches.
What is MERIT Beauty Signature Lip Liner?
Merit has expanded the Signature Lip Sheer Lip Liner collection with six new shades, including deeper tones, richer definition shades and fresh rosy hues. The formula remains the same balmy, sheer lip pencil that made the original launch such a standout, but the new colours add much more depth and versatility to the range:

The six new shades are as follows:
- Bauhaus – black plum
- Subconscious – plum mauve
- Cassis – rose

- June – warm medium nude
- Cowboy – warm brown
The original launch focused heavily on easy nude tones, whereas this extension introduces richer plums, deeper browns and more statement shades while still maintaining the sheer, wearable Merit aesthetic.

My Review
As you would expect from MERIT, these liner are really good. I love the packaging. I love that there’s a twist up mechanism PLUS a sharpener, and I love how easy they are to use.
Application and Formula
MERIT are all about the minimalist approach and this liner definitely embodies that. As the name would suggest, the pigmentation is sheer, so it’s pretty hard to go wrong with it. The rounded tip is a departure from traditional lip liners, and it means you can’t create any harsh line. It’s all about a more forgiving application process.
The liner has a lovely glidey texture. Colour pay off is sheer and so you can build it up to create the look you want. I recommend that you ensure your lips are clean of any product that’s too emollient, or you may struggle to build up any colour.
The formula feels nice and hydrating and you can use it over the whole lip area if you wish and it stays feeling really comfortable.
Shade Range
With the 2026 shade extension, there are now 14 shades in the MERIT Beauty Signature Lip Liner collection, catering to a variety of skin tones and preferences. I am really loving Subconcious, Rose and June. From the original colletcion, I think that Bespoke is my favourite.
