The very exclusive club of Master Perfumers has two new members: Marie Salamagne et Frank Voelkl.
This title distinguishes a handful of creative perfumers “ whose journey, perseverance, personality and impact have profoundly marked contemporary perfumery », explains dsm-firmenich, which had not appointed a new Master Perfumer in Fine Fragrance since 2016.
According to dsm-firmenich, the Master Perfumer plays an essential role within a composition house: he is the guarantor of olfactory excellence, the master of the palette of ingredients, which he explores, enriches and reinvents, a key player in innovation, at the crossroads of science and creation, and a transmitter of knowledge, engaged in the training and mentoring of new generations.

In addition to Marie Salamagne and Frank Voelkl, Alberto Morillas, Olivier Cresp, Honorine Blanc and Nathalie Lorson join the circle of Master Perfumers dedicated to dsm-firmenich Fine Fragrance.
Among the emblematic creations of Marie Salamagne we notably cite Aqua Allegory Mandarine Basilic (Guerlain), Beach Walk et By the Fireplace (Maison Margiela), History of Orange Trees (The Artisan Perfumer), Black Opium et Muse (Yves Saint Laurent), Malaquais silk (Dries Van Noten), Fame (Rabanne), Orange Marmalade (Jo Malone London), I Want Choo Le Parfum (Jimmy Choo), Flora Gorgeous Orchid (Gucci), Polo 67 (Ralph Lauren) and the recent blockbuster Paradigm (Prada).
As far as Frank Voelkl is concerned, his most notable creations include: Gucci Bamboo (Gucci), Tuscan Leather Intense (Tom Ford), You, You Dream et You Doux (Glossier), Velvet Amber Sun (Dolce&Gabanna), Eternity Aromatic Essence for Men (Calvin Klein), Zephirine (Liberty LBTY), or even Mood Ring et Father Figure (Phlur), as well as White House (House of BŌ) for American niche brands. His celebrity perfumes also earned him the recognition of a wide audience, whether Your Turn (Billie Eilish) or creations for Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber or more recently Dwayne Johnson “The Rock” for his brand Papatui. His collaboration with Le Labo includes nearly twenty creations, including Santal 33iconic olfactory signature, Black Tea 29, Matcha tea 26, Very 19 or even Violette 30.
These nominations will give rise to a celebration ceremony which will be held in September 2026 in Paris, bringing together the entire community of perfumers and dsm-firmenich partners.
