Introducing Sitting Pretty’s The Seamless Clip-in Hair Extensions

0

Some moments call for a little extra. A date night. Girls’ night. That big presentation. A wedding where you want to feel completely yourself. A little extra volume, a little more coverage—exactly where you want it. But finding clip-ins that actually work for fine hair? Nearly impossible. That’s why we created The Seamless Clip-In Collection.

Here’s what we noticed: most clip-in extensions are built heavy and dense. They feel bulky, they pull, and they weren’t designed with lighter hair textures in mind. We wanted to create clip-ins that work differently—weightless, seamless, and built specifically for you.

Ours are made from 100% Pro-Grade Remy human hair. They move like yours, hold curl, take heat, and stay soft over time. We’ve also built them to be incredibly lightweight and lie completely flat against your scalp, eliminating the visible ridge traditional clip-ins create. The result: no visible lines in updos, no bumps beneath your own hair, nothing that gives you away.

We created these for occasions. For fine hair, we recommend saving them for special moments instead of daily wear. This supports hair health while keeping it for when it matters most. The set includes seven pieces, but you’ll likely only use two to four at a time, depending on where you need coverage.

They’re also designed to layer with your halo. If you already wear one daily, these clip-ins let you add targeted volume wherever you want it—more at the crown, fuller at the sides, extra length in back. Total control over your look. Care is straightforward: wash when needed with sulfate-free products and store in the included bag.

For the nights that deserve something special—extensions that actually feel that way, too.

Introduction: Morning Skincare as Preparation, Not Correction

Mornings often begin with urgency. Alarms buzz, notifications pile up, and the day’s expectations arrive before we’ve fully woken up. In skincare, this rush frequently shows up as overcorrection—scrubbing away the night, layering products to “fix” perceived flaws, or chasing instant glow before stepping out the door.

But morning skincare was never meant to be corrective.

Instead, it’s meant to be preparatory.

The morning routine sets the tone for how skin behaves throughout the day. When approached with calm and intention, it supports balance, resilience, and comfort—qualities that naturally lead to healthier-looking skin over time. Just as importantly, a thoughtful morning ritual signals safety to the skin, helping reduce the reactivity and imbalance that often stem from stress and overstimulation.

In this sense, morning skincare isn’t about erasing imperfections. It’s about creating the right conditions for skin to function well—hydrated, protected, and supported—before it encounters environmental stressors, climate shifts, and the demands of daily life.

What Skin Needs in the Morning

Morning skin has different needs than evening skin. Overnight, skin is in repair mode—recovering from the day before, restoring barrier function, and regulating hydration. When we wake up, the goal isn’t to strip that work away, but to gently prepare skin for exposure and activity.

Hydration Without Heaviness

In the morning, skin benefits most from lightweight hydration that replenishes water levels without creating congestion or shine. Heavy occlusion can feel suffocating during the day, especially as skin warms and produces natural oils. The goal is comfort and suppleness—not weight.

Hydration in the morning should feel like skin is supportednot coated.

Protection of the Barrier

The skin barrier is your first line of defense against pollution, temperature changes, friction, and dehydration. Morning routines should focus on preserving barrier integrity, not challenging it. Gentle cleansing, minimal actives, and consistent moisturization help ensure the barrier stays intact and responsive throughout the day.

A Calm Start to Reduce Reactivity

Skin is deeply responsive to stress—both internal and external. Rushing, over-layering, or aggressively treating skin first thing in the morning can contribute to sensitivity, redness, and unpredictable behavior. A calm, simplified routine helps signal balance, allowing skin to adapt more smoothly to the day ahead.

Why Overloading Skin in the Morning Backfires

With so many skincare products available, it’s tempting to layer everything at once—especially in the morning, when we want to look our best. But more isn’t always better, particularly at the start of the day.

Layering Too Many Actives

Strong actives—exfoliating acids, high-dose treatments, frequent brighteners—can overwhelm skin when used excessively or at the wrong time. In the morning, when skin is preparing for UV exposure, environmental stress, and makeup, too many actives can compromise tolerance and increase sensitivity.

Rather than improving skin, this often leads to irritation that dulls radiance and disrupts texture.

Disrupting Natural Balance Early in the Day

Skin has its own rhythms. Over-cleansing or aggressively treating it in the morning disrupts natural oil-water balance, often triggering rebound oiliness, dehydration, or inflammation later in the day. A routine that respects skin’s baseline function allows it to regulate itself more effectively.

Consistency and restraint are what allow skin to glow naturally—not intensity.

A Balanced Morning Reset Routine

A morning reset routine should feel grounding, intuitive, and supportive. Each step has a purpose, and nothing is included without intention. This is where simplicity becomes powerful.

Cleanse: Refresh Without Stripping

Argan Oil Creamy Cleanser

Morning cleansing doesn’t need to be aggressive to be effective. The goal is to refresh skin—removing overnight sweat, excess oil, and residue—without stripping away protective lipids.

A creamy cleanser formulated with nourishing oils helps maintain softness while cleansing, ensuring the barrier remains intact. When skin isn’t stripped first thing in the morning, it’s better able to retain hydration and tolerate environmental stress throughout the day.

Cleansing should feel comforting, not squeaky or tight. Skin that feels calm after cleansing is already on the path to balance.

Treat: Support Firmness and Resilience

Mushroom Peptides Firming Serum

Morning treatment steps should focus on reinforcement, not correction. Lightweight serums that support skin structure and resilience help prepare skin for the day without overwhelming it.

Peptide-based treatments work by supporting the skin’s natural architecture, contributing to firmness and elasticity over time. When used consistently in the morning, these treatments help skin feel stronger and more responsive—less reactive to daily stressors and better able to maintain an even appearance.

This step is about building long-term skin confidence, not chasing instant change.

Moisturize: Maintain Hydration and Comfort

Mushroom Peptide Moisturizer

Moisturizing in the morning is about maintaining equilibrium. A well-formulated moisturizer helps lock in hydration, reinforce the barrier, and provide a smooth foundation for the rest of the day—whether that includes sunscreen, makeup, or simply facing the elements.

Morning moisturization should feel breathable. Skin should feel cushioned and comfortable, not weighed down. When hydration and barrier support are balanced correctly, skin appears more even, less reactive, and naturally radiant.

Weekly Brightening (AM-Friendly Days): Wake Up Radiance Gently

Vitamin C Glow Max Bright Mask

Brightening doesn’t need to be aggressive to be effective. Used occasionally on mornings when skin feels rested and stable, a gentle brightening mask can help refresh tone and revive dullness without overstimulation.

The key is moderation. Weekly or occasional use allows skin to benefit from brightening support without disrupting balance. When brightening is treated as a ritual rather than a fix, it becomes a moment of pause—an intentional reset rather than another demand placed on skin.

How a Calm Morning Routine Impacts Skin Over Time

The effects of a balanced morning routine may not feel dramatic overnight—but they are deeply transformative with consistency.

Reduced Sensitivity

When skin is treated gently and predictably each morning, it learns to trust the routine. Over time, this often leads to reduced redness, less reactivity, and improved tolerance to environmental changes.

More Consistent Texture and Tone

Balanced hydration and barrier support help skin regulate oil production and cell turnover more effectively. The result is skin that feels smoother, looks more even, and reflects light more naturally.

Improved Skin Behavior, Not Just Appearance

Perhaps the most important benefit is behavioral. Skin that is supported consistently becomes more predictable—less prone to sudden breakouts, dryness, or irritation. This stability makes skincare feel simpler and more intuitive over time.

Conclusion: Morning Rituals as Tone-Setters for Skin Health

The way we begin our mornings matters—both for our minds and our skin. A calm, balanced morning skincare ritual isn’t about perfection or performance. It’s about setting a supportive tone that carries through the day.

When skincare is approached as preparation rather than correction, skin is given the space to function well. Hydration is retained, the barrier remains resilient, and glow becomes a natural byproduct—not something forced into existence.

In a world that encourages urgency and overconsumption, choosing a gentle morning reset is an act of restraint and respect. It’s a reminder that healthy skin doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from doing what’s necessary, consistently, and with care.

FAQ Section

Do I need to cleanse in the morning?

For most skin types, a gentle morning cleanse helps refresh skin and prepare it for hydration and protection. The key is choosing a cleanser that cleans without stripping, so the barrier remains supported.

What order should morning skincare go in?

A simple structure works best: cleanse, treat, moisturize. Each step builds on the previous one, ensuring hydration and support are layered logically without overwhelming skin.

Can I use masks in the morning?

Yes—when used thoughtfully. Gentle brightening or hydrating masks can be used occasionally in the morning, especially on days when skin feels rested and balanced. Frequency and skin condition matter more than timing.

Can You Change Your Circadian Rhythm—and Should You?

0

A regular bedtime for me is 2 a.m. As I’m writing this (at midnight, no less), I can already imagine the emotions evoked on the faces reading this: shock, horror, and maybe even a little judgement. I get it all the time, being a lifelong night owl. I’ve long been told my routine—sleeping from around 2 a.m. to 10 a.m.—is societally unacceptable and simply unsustainable, which piles onto the quiet guilt I sometimes feel for not working a “stable” job with regular hours. But as 2026 arrived, I decided I wanted to get to the bottom of whether I should be feeling bad about the way I manage my sleep; I’ve been like this for years, after all, and usually manage to make it work for me. So should I be trying to fix my circadian rhythm—and even if I wanted to, could I?

A quick refresher on what circadian rhythm is

Described as the body’s internal 24-hour biological clock, “it helps regulate many essential functions, including when we feel sleepy or alert, how hormones are released, body temperature, digestion, and even immune activity,” Alicia Gonzalez-Fernandez, MD, a specialist in family medicine at Imperial College London, tells SELF. “At the center of this system is a small group of nerve cells in the brain called the suprachiasmatic nucleus, which sits in the hypothalamus. This master clock responds primarily to light and darkness. When light enters the eyes—especially morning light—it sends a signal to the brain that it is daytime. This suppresses the release of the sleep hormone melatonin and promotes alertness. As light levels fall in the evening, melatonin rises, preparing the body for sleep.”

Many things can affect the circadian rhythm. These include—most notably—traveling across time zones (experiencing jet lag), the clocks going back or forwards, and daily changes to light exposure. Our individual clocks are, in part, predetermined by our genetics, but they’re also determined by our daily habits and environment. For many of us, that means our bed and wake-up times will vary depending on light exposure, when we eat, and how and when we exercise. Some of us run later (night owls) and others earlier (morning larks), which “are known as our chronotypes,” Allie Hare, MD, a consultant in sleep medicine and president of the British Sleep Society, explains to SELF. (My Oura ring likes to remind me that my chronotype is “late evening.”)

This suggests that with the right lifestyle tweaks, it’s possible to shift your circadian rhythm in a certain direction—should you wish to—which sleep experts tend to agree is correct. Start with a sleep diary, advises Dr. Hare, writing down what time you go to sleep and wake up each day and monitoring how this gradually alters amidst certain lifestyle changes. Light exposure habits top the list here. “Getting bright natural light soon after waking helps signal to the brain that the day has started, which anchors the body clock earlier. In contrast, reducing light exposure in the evening—especially from screens—allows melatonin to rise naturally and promotes earlier sleep onset,” explains Dr. Gonzalez-Fernandez.

Mini cosmetics market grows as brands target Gen Z and travel retail

0

Key takeaways on mini cosmetics market

  • Retailers and brands are expanding travel-sized and discovery formats.
  • Packaging suppliers are innovating to meet demand for compact, premium products.
  • Gen Z consumers value affordability, variety, and portability in beauty products.

According to a 2025 report from Circana, the mini cosmetics market in the US grew by 13% year on year.

In this market, the cosmetics retailer Ulta Beauty has also been regularly expanding its mini and travel-sized product assortment, as has another beauty retailer, Sephora, in European countries.

In the UK market, news reports said that beauty retailer Superdrug saw sales of its Mini Studio range grow by 54% in 2025 versus last year, reaching a value of £211k.

As well as being ideal for travel or on-the-go application, mini-sized cosmetics are also an accessible way to try trending products and discover new brands. They also make the perfect affordable gift or stocking filler during the festive season. Given all these factors, it appears that minis are far more than a temporary fad.

Packaging innovations drive accessibility and experimentation

In late 2025, the packaging company Asquan launched Makeup Minis, which includes teeny tiny lip products like gloss, balm and tint, as well as mini tubes with precision tips for easy application of balms and creams.

Another cosmetics packaging and application tools manufacturer Cosmogen has recently developed customised packaging for mini-format lipsticks for L’Oréal Group’s prestige brands, including Valentino Beauty, Lancôme, YSL Beauty, Armani Beauty and Prada Beauty.

According to Maud Lelièvre, who is Marketing & Communication Director at Cosmogen, this mini-format strategy allows brands to offer collections of multiple shades at an accessible price point. It responds to the expectations expressed by Gen Z and facilitates access to makeup offerings in discovery or travel contexts.

“Mini lipsticks allow the prestige brands of the L’Oréal Group to broaden access to their collections through discovery sets and travel retail, without compromising design or user experience,” explained Lelièvre.

“Gen Z is particularly receptive, valuing both the price–value ratio and the ability to own multiple shades at once; it is an effective alternative between single-use samples, which are set to disappear, and full-size products that can limit experimentation,” she said.

While the products for L’Oréal were bespoke, Cosmogen said it also offers a standard ‘ready-to-go’ mini format with a 1.4g capacity, which is increasingly popular for indie startups to optimise lead times, costs, and industrial consistency.

Lelièvre believes that demand for mini cosmetics is clearly increasing, driven by travel retail and discovery-oriented consumption, where compact formats have become strategic. “Mini lipsticks address needs for mobility, trial, and the creation of multi-shade routines at an accessible price point,” she explained.

She also said that these formats are particularly favoured by younger and urban-based consumers who are seeking out premium products at lower prices, along with product variety and experimentation, and even the collectability factor.

5 minutes with… Mukti! | Nourished Life AU

0

What inspired you to start your own natural skincare brand?

An affinity for nature has always been a core part of Mukti’s DNA. ’I was raised in the country. I’ve got that connection with nature, and I’ve had that since I was a child. My happiest moments were spent in the garden. For me, I’ve always felt happiness in nature.”

“I grew up with a health-conscious mother who was always concerned about her visual appearance, so I was conscious about health as well. I went to boarding school and one of my friends was from Byron Bay, and she introduced me to a brand called Rachel Perry- it was aloe vera based, and I loved it. She introduced me to smashed avocado, too- it was a long time ago! I remember thinking ’This is lovely. There’s something really nutritious about this food.’ It made me feel great. I think that all tied in to me having an interest in alternative and natural products as opposed to anything else.”

It was that interest in organic produce that Mukti eventually harnessed into what has become a 24-year passion for organic living and alternative, natural therapies. ’I was always interested in plant medicine, I started studying at a young age and ended up studying naturopathy first, then acupuncture. When I was in college I started doing the remedial therapies section of study first, and then I started working with people in a massage sense doing a lot of remedial therapies and working one-on-one with people. That’s how my passion for natural therapies began.”

What did your life look like prior to Mukti Organics?

’My husband and I had a couple of hairdressings salons. He would do the hairdressing and I was looking at an add-on service in beauty therapy. I worked with a great clinician in Brisbane who taught me a lot about natural medicine. I could see the healing benefits of herbal medicine, natural medicine, and alternative medicine. We moved to the country when I was pregnant, and we moved into a permaculture community. I set up a co-op there where everyone could bring their produce so we could use that as a community base for people to swap their food out. After my daughter was born, I was
given an opportunity to work in a guest lodge in Maleny, the township.”

Mukti’s time working in the guest lodge served as the catalyst for what is now Mukti Organics. ’They [the lodge owners] marketed to a lot of teachers and nurses who were quite stressed out, so they would come up on Monday and Tuesday and have a pamper package. The other woman who I worked with would do the massage and I would do the facial component. I would often get asked ’What products are you using?’ At that stage I was using a combination of different products- a bit of Jurlique, and another brand out of the States called Paul Penders which were very herbal based. I had an epiphany. I
thought ’I’m offering a service. Why don’t I offer a product as well?’”

What’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learnt in business, and in life?

“Prioritise family, especially if you have young children. You will never be able to reclaim
those precious moments.”

What does a typical day look like for you?

“I’m very regimented and I have a routine. I get up at 4am and my day starts with meditation and writing in a gratitude journal. I then sit at my desk by 5 and have a bulletproof coffee, I intermittently fast and I only eat certified organic food. I drink water, I exercise, and I don’t sit for long periods of time- we’re designed to move. I make sure I get a nature connection and sun in my eyes. I want to live a long healthy life, so it’s about balance. In order to juggle those things, you’ve got to have adequate sleep and support your own health and wellness. Now, I’m probably the healthiest I’ve ever been. I think from there you become a more vibrant, exuberant human being, and you can help more people. I believe that’s what we’re all here to do- we’re here to help others.”

What’s your top beauty or wellness hack?

Mukti prioritises wellbeing over everything, “A major cause of inflammation in the body is cortisol, this being our primary stress hormone. The skin is not immune to the hormones released by the brain, including the secretion of cortisol. This can directly lead to skin inflammation, creating and/or worsening inflammatory disorders like rosacea, eczema, dermatitis, and barrier disruption. Those experiencing these conditions can benefit greatly by prioritising their mental wellbeing and engaging in relaxation and mindfulness exercises not only to improve their quality of life but also the health of their skin.”

Where to next for Mukti Organics?

“This year, we are going to be focussing on the neck down. The body care category is something we are looking to move into a little bit more. I think once you pass a certain age, you start dealing with things like crepey skin, discolouration. By the time we get to looking after that, it can be too late. I’m always interested in improving when new ingredients or new technology becomes available.” Continuously improving products is pivotal for Mukti as beauty consumers become increasingly demanding. Moving forward, Mukti Organics plans to expand into the US & UK markets.

What Is Toxic Independence? And 5 Signs You Have It

0

You’re going through something big, but you don’t speak up. You’re exhausted, but you white-knuckle through the day. Your friends offer help, but you brush it off. If this sounds familiar, you probably pride yourself for being self-sufficient and always tending to your own needs. But when you make a conscious choice to remain an island—sometimes even choosing to sink rather than seeking out help—you’re practicing an extreme form of self-reliance known as toxic independence. While not an official classification in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the trait could still have some undesired effects on your mental and emotional well-being.

There’s a clear distinction between healthy self-sufficiency and toxic independence, says Yasmine Saad, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder and CEO of Madison Park Psychological Services in New York City. The former allows the freedom to balance taking care of yourself and relying on others—without any hang-ups if you choose to do so—while the latter involves valuing self-reliance at any cost and an aversion to seeking outside help. “Healthy self-sufficiency is a choice, [whereas] toxic independence is a survival strategy,” says Dr. Saad.

Elizabeth Winkler, LMFT, a psychotherapist in Beverly Hills, California, says that toxic independence often begins in early childhood and is a coping mechanism for experiences like inconsistent care, a lack of safety, or neglect from caregivers. “Asking for help felt risky, so becoming overly self-reliant became the adaptive strategy,” she explains. “Vulnerability came to feel unsafe and weak, leading to avoidant behaviors like not asking for help or allowing support.” Toxic independence can also manifest later in life as “a reaction to a belief or a past hurt related to relationships,” Dr. Saad says. Perhaps you were cheated on; as a result, you might avoid relationships because being single feels safer. Other examples include taking on more work because you’re “allergic” to delegating tasks, or refusing help from your best friends when you’re sick or moving homes.

Here are a few telltale signs that your independent streak veers into toxic territory.

1. You never ask for help.

You wear self-sufficiency as a badge of honor and pride yourself on relying on no one but yourself. This could arise in simple situations, like having a tech issue at work, or during something heavier—like a breakup, layoff, or grief from the loss of a loved one. In any case, you simply refuse to seek out support or accept it when it’s offered. If even the thought of asking for help makes you itch, toxic independence is likely at play.

2. You see dependence as weakness.

Perhaps you look down upon people who ask lots of questions, rely heavily on their significant other, or have no problem asking for a favor. You might also see vulnerability as something to be ashamed of rather than something to take pride in. This may stop you from getting too close to others, allowing yourself to be cared for, or being emotionally available with your inner circle or a potential partner. “With healthy self-sufficiency, others’ help is seen as neutral. With toxic independence, others’ help is a liability and a weakness,” notes Dr. Saad.

3. You feel isolated.

As wonderful as independence is, toxic independence can have serious repercussions on your relationships and livelihood. “It erodes intimacy because deep connection is built through vulnerability, trust, and interdependence,” says Winkler. Without these pillars of connection, you can run the risk of loneliness, suppressed anger, and even depression. If hyper-independence manifests at work, you’re on a path to burnout, resentment, and being called out for lacking collaborative skills.

4. You crave control and mistrust others.

No matter whether you’re dealing with a group project or organizing a girls’ trip, you feel like you’re the only person who could possibly get the job done. “With toxic independence, the person believes that if they do not do it by themselves, it will not be done, or they will be hurt, betrayed, trapped, or disappointed,” says Dr. Saad. You’re uncomfortable if you’re not in control and actively ensure that you’re the always one to call the shots.

5. You feel the need to protect yourself at all costs.

According to Dr. Saad, protection is at the core of toxic independence. This makes you operate from a place of fear of the worst-case scenario rather than having safety and trust in others. Even if you feel like you’re drowning, you continue to do so instead of reaching out for a life vest. You save face and go it alone, no matter if it robs you of valuable time and energy. “Toxic independence often looks like strength on the outside and exhaustion on the inside,” says Dr. Saad.

How to break the cycle of toxic independence

The first step is recognizing the pattern, says Winkler, and pausing when you’re triggered. “I often say, ‘if it’s hysterical, it’s historical.’ That reaction is pointing to a younger, repressed part that learned this way of coping,” she says. Meeting yourself—as well as your inner child—with compassion and encouragement, rather than judgment, lays the groundwork to feel safe and begin to heal.

Winter Skincare Routine: My Day & Night Cold Weather Skincare for Dry, Sensitive Skin

Winter can be tough on skin. Cold temperatures, wind, indoor heating and lower humidity levels can all lead to dry, tight, dehydrated and reactive skin. Over the years, I’ve refined a simple but effective winter skincare routine that supports the skin barrier, boosts hydration and keeps my skin comfortable all day and night.

This post breaks down my daytime and nighttime winter skincare routines, using gentle, nourishing products that work especially well if your skin is dry, sensitive or prone to dehydration.

Daytime Winter Skincare Routine (Cold Weather AM Routine)

In winter, my daytime skincare routine focuses on hydration, barrier protection and comfort under makeup. I avoid anything stripping or overly active and prioritise layers that keep skin calm throughout the day.

1. Gentle Cleanser (AM)

Winter Skincare Routine: Day Time Cleansers
Winter Skincare Routine: Day Time Cleansers

I start with a gentle, non-foaming cleanser. In cold weather, over-cleansing can worsen dehydration and sensitivity.

Look for:

  • Light cleansing waters
  • Cream or lotion cleansers
  • No strong surfactants
  • Fragrance-free or very low fragrance

My recommendations

2. Hydrating Toner or Essence

Winter Skincare Routine: Day Time Toner

This step adds an immediate hit of hydration and helps prep the skin for serums.

Key ingredients to look for:

  • Glycerin
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Panthenol
  • Aloe vera

My Recommendation

3. Hydrating Serum

Winter Skincare Routine: Day Time Serum
Winter Skincare Routine: Day Time Serum

A hydrating serum is essential in winter. I favour lightweight, water-based formulas that deeply hydrate without feeling heavy under moisturiser or makeup.

Best winter serum ingredients:

  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Polyglutamic acid
  • Beta-glucan
  • Niacinamide (low percentage)

My recommendation

4. Barrier-Repair Moisturiser

Winter Skincare Routine: Day Time Moisturisers
Winter Skincare Routine: Day Time Moisturisers

In cold weather, moisturiser becomes the most important step. I choose a barrier-supporting moisturiser that locks in hydration and protects against environmental stress, but isn’t too heavy

Look for:

  • Ceramides
  • Squalane
  • Shea butter

My Recommendations:

5. SPF (Yes, Even in Winter)

Winter Skincare Routine: Day Time SPF

A broad-spectrum SPF is still essential in winter, especially for everyday protection and preventing sensitivity flare-ups.

My Recommendations

Hydrating Primer for Makeup

Winter Skincare Routine: Day Time Primer

As an extra step, I like to use a glowy, hydrating primer under foundation, particularly if I am using a matte formula. My current favourite trick is to apply a light layer of the Balm from the REESON Highlighter Duo* before starting my makeup.

Nighttime Winter Skincare Routine (Cold Weather PM Routine)

At night, my winter skincare routine is all about repair, nourishment and recovery. This is when I allow myself slightly richer textures and more comforting formulas.

1. Gentle Cleanse (PM)

Winter Skincare Routine: Night Time Cleansers
Winter Skincare Routine: Night Time Cleansers

In the evening, I cleanse properly to remove makeup, SPF and daily impurities.

  • First cleanse: balm or oil cleanser
  • Second cleanse: gentle cream cleanser

Avoid foaming cleansers if your skin feels dry or reactive.

My Recommendations

2. Hydrating Toner or Essence

Winter Skincare Routine: Night Time Toners

I repeat my hydrating toner step at night to replenish moisture lost throughout the day.

My Recommendations

3. Soothing or Hydrating Serum

Winter Skincare Routine: Night Time Serums
Winter Skincare Routine: Night Time Serums

At night, I choose soothing, barrier-repair serums rather than strong actives.

Great winter night serum ingredients:

  • Ceramides
  • Peptides
  • Gotu kola
  • Panthenol

My Recommendations

4. Rich Night Cream or Moisturiser

Winter Skincare Routine: Night Time Moisturisers

A richer night cream helps support skin repair while you sleep.

Ideal winter night moisturiser ingredients:

  • Ceramides
  • Shea butter
  • Fatty acids
  • Squalane

My Recommendations

5. Facial Oil or Overnight Mask

Winter Skincare Routine: Night Time Mask /Oil
Winter Skincare Routine: Night Time Mask /Oil

On very cold nights or when my skin feels tight and reactive, I add:

  • A few drops of facial oil, or
  • An overnight hydrating mask

This step helps prevent moisture loss overnight and leaves skin feeling calm and comfortable by morning.

My Recommendations

Key Tips for Winter Skincare

  • Protect the skin barrier above all else
  • Avoid over-exfoliating in cold weather
  • Use lukewarm water, not hot
  • Layer hydration rather than relying on one heavy product

Final Thoughts

A good winter skincare routine doesn’t need to be complicated. By focusing on hydration, barrier repair and gentle formulas, you can keep skin comfortable, glowing and resilient throughout the colder months.

If your skin feels dry, tight or reactive in winter, simplifying your routine and switching to more nourishing textures can make all the difference.

Your haircare routine doesn’t have to take a backseat just because you’re traveling. Whether staying in a hotel for work or visiting your best friend’s beach house, pack an OLAPLEX® travel kit to ensure good hair days.

Why Do I Need Travel-Sized Haircare Products?

Have you ever traveled and felt like your hair was frizzy, dry, or damaged? Hotels often provide shampoos and conditioners, but they may not be formulated for all hair types. When you pack your favorite travel-sized shampoo and conditioner, you won’t have to subject your hair to less-than-favorable hotel products.

Travel-sized products are also easier to pack in your bag. If you’re flying and bringing a carry-on bag on the plane, you’re probably aware of the TSA’s liquid carry-on limit. By packing mini haircare products, you can bring your favorite OLAPLEX items in your carry-on bag, as long as each liquid, gel, or aerosol is 3.4 ounces or less and everything fits in one quart-sized bag.
