THE WHAT? Rom&nd has launched the “Green Chemi Project,” a recycling initiative aimed at collecting and repurposing empty color cosmetics containers.

THE DETAILS Operated by Ifamily SC, the global color cosmetics brand partnered with TerraCycle to address recycling challenges associated with small cosmetic packaging and containers with leftover product. The program accepts empty containers from Rom&nd and its color care brand Nuse, as well as expired or discolored products that are no longer usable.

Consumers can return items at the Rom&nd Pink Office in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, or participate through an online program via the brand’s website. Participants are offered incentives, including complimentary full-size cosmetic products for returning even a single item. Collected packaging will be processed through TerraCycle’s recycling system and converted into new materials, with resulting products and donation initiatives to be decided through consumer voting.

THE WHY? The initiative aims to reduce cosmetic packaging waste and improve recycling rates for small beauty containers that typically end up in general waste due to recycling limitations.
